I counted twenty-four cars in the parking area next to Inkie’s. On a Thursday in November. Twenty-four! What were they all doing here, and why? I’d arrived, thinking there might be a handful of dog walkers and similarly grumpy loners wielding tripods and camera bags, but in the forest, entire families were at large, wandering around as bold as day. Admittedly some of the visitors were at the tables in Inkie’s, filling their faces with its joyous delights, but that still left a steady hum of human traffic to negotiate as I sought out some much needed time alone with my camera.

I’d already filled my own face, opting for a rather more modest brunch at Morrison’s, this time in Bodmin as I continued my survey of the local brekkie supermarket options for when the Three Happy Snappers head out on those day release outings onto the beaches and moors, and into the woods. It was enjoyable enough, although Newquay is still in the lead if you're relying on this feed for tips on budget gastronomic experiences in the supermarkets of Cornwall and West Devon. I’d been sorely tempted by Inkie’s and its generously portioned artisan fare, but ultimately decided I didn’t want to overdo it. I’d have a cappuccino later on - after I finished the mission I’d come to try and accomplish.

The mission itself was a multi pronged one in truth. It felt as if this was my one and only chance to capture the autumn colours that pass so rapidly each year, often carried away on the storms that batter and bruise the far southwest of this collection of islands before the colours begin to change, stripping foliage from branches and casting it to the wet soggy ground. I also wanted to try some new compositions here, hoping to find some suitable root systems for foreground interest, using the falls themselves as the backdrop, if you pardon the pun. And then, most of all I wanted to revisit a shot that I’d taken two years earlier, the last time I was here in fact - a shot I knew had potential if I could just get it right today.

I started with the roots, but it was becoming a struggle almost immediately. Bringing the tripod low enough to make a feature of them, and still including the water wasn’t really working - at least not in the first spot I decided to try. And when no less than three small groups of Selfiegrammers appeared and started waving their phones about, it became too much and I moved deeper into the woods, into the sanctuary where only a handful of people ever go. At last I was alone, beside the crashing cacophony of the river. I often feel that noise and sound are two completely different things. Surrounded by people, I could only hear noise, even when nobody spoke, yet here, all that remained was the beautiful sound of the rush of white falling water. Deafeningly loud, yet so peaceful as to allow me to relax and gather my thoughts. I didn’t see a single soul until I returned to the higher area of the falls more than an hour later.

And here I could contemplate that composition once more. It was one I’d really liked last time I stood in this spot, yet in the knowledge that I was here in the company of two other togs, I’d allowed myself to rush - allowed highlights into the white water that couldn’t be recovered. The results had been passable, but in no way worthy of a discerning audience. This time I wanted to come away with a shot worth sharing. I frowned at the frothing mayhem in the spot where I needed to stand and perch my tripod - two legs fully extended, the third retracted and pushed out wide to balance it on a mossy green boulder. The river looked deeper than it had two years earlier, and for a moment I considered whether I needed to remove my wellies, roll up my trouser legs and brace myself. It wasn’t quite necessary, but almost. Having already mounted the camera onto the tripod with the polariser attached to the lens, I shuffled down the steep bank and onto the slippery riverbed. With the water swirling around near the tops of my wellies, I wasted no time in setting up the shot and checking the histogram. It didn’t need more than a few exposures before I decided I probably had enough to work with - a decision driven at least in part by the precarious position I was in. I hadn’t really worked out how I was going to get back up onto the bank without dropping everything into the river yet either. I’d worry about that afterwards.

Somehow I managed to clamber out, dumping the splayed tripod into a muddy splat at a jaunty angle before trying my luck on slimy footholds and arriving in an untidy heap next to it. A quick look at the images on the back of the camera looked hopeful, and so I continued in a hapless search for tree roots placed suitably close to the water. I’m not sure the latter plan really worked, although I won’t give up on that score just yet. Maybe I should give up on the water and focus on the roots - again, no pun intended.

But what I was happy with was this. Certainly happy enough to allow the discerning audience to see it and read the story. It was my favourite shot of the day and I was glad I’d made that marker to improve on two years earlier. And there was that last remaining splash of autumn colour, a spray of russets and yellows filling the space above the rushing waterfall. I’d made my peace with a composition that had been quietly knocking on the door for two years. It had been a good visit, and it was time for that cappuccino, with extra chocolate sprinkles before the drive home. Cappuccino with a smile. It can’t be bad.

swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power

derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.

Arthur: Be quiet!

Dennis: You can't expect to wield supreme power just 'cause some watery tart threw a sword at you!

Arthur: Shut up!

Dennis: I mean, if I went 'round saying I was an emperor just

because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me

Arthur: Shut up! Will you shut up?! [Grabs Dennis and shakes him]

Dennis: Ah, now we see the violence inherent in the system!

It was quite difficult to get these shots, the best of several hundred attempts! The lens and converter is quite heavy for little me to wield and pan hand held for any length of time and the evening light was not the best. So, ISO was high, leading to a lot of noise as the D7200 doesn't handle it well over ISO 800, particularly under the cropping of the relatively distant subjects. Great fun though.

Villa Borghese Pinciana is a villa built by the architect Flaminio Ponzio, developing sketches by Scipione Borghese.

Borghese was a maternal nephew of Pope Paul V. He wielded enormous power as the Pope's secretary and effective head of the Vatican government, and became very wealthy. In 1607, he began construction of a villa on the Pincian Hill just north of the Pincian Gate in Rome.

The work was begun by architect Flaminio Ponzio, who had recently worked on the Palazzo Borghese. Upon Ponzio's death in 1613, the work was continued by his assistant Giovanni Vasanzio, who designed the facade. The portico had spolia derived from the Arch of Claudius, once on the Via Flaminia. The two-story central hall was known as the Salone.

The Casino Nobile was less a residence than a retreat for Borghese and his uncle to escape the summer heat of the city and to host receptions for dignitaries. It was also a semi-public museum to house his art collection, including sculptures commissioned from Gian Lorenzo Bernini. Borghese entertained guests in the open loggia on the second floor, where Giovanni Lanfranco painted a large ceiling fresco in quadratura The Gods of Olympus also called Council of the Gods.

The Borghese Balustrade was crafted by G di Gincome and P. Massoni in 1618 for the south forecourt of the Casino Nobile. At the center opening there were two stone statues on top and fountains with shell-shaped basins below. The statues were a later addition from 1715 by Claude-Augustin Cayot. In 1896, William Waldorf Astor, former U.S. Minister to Italy, purchased the balustrade and had it installed at his English estate Cliveden. It is a Grade II Listed Building.

Around 1770, Marcantonio Borghese, 5th Prince of Sulmona began recreating the villa as a museum. Old tapestry and leather hangings were removed, new ceiling decorations commissioned and the Casina renovated, according to designs by Antonio Asprucci and his son Mario. Much of the sculpted decorations were done by Vincenzo Pacetti.

The Galleria Borghese now occupies the villa, and the Villa Borghese gardens surround the villa.

Other villas held by the Borghese family may also be known as Villa Borghese.

Khalil Chishtree’s installation of ethereal life-sized figures offers an upbeat and humanitarian take on plastic pollution and our threatened ecosystem. Chishtree wields one of the most ordinary and ubiquitous materials of our era, the plastic bag, to explore both the material’s possibilities and connotations for the well-being of the human race. Realizing only one figure in its entirety, and leaving the others incomplete, Chishtree accentuates the importance of progress and change as we encounter the challenges of that plastic pollution has wrought on our land and oceans. We greet his figures holding hands in a circle facing towards us in an expression of mutual support and empathy. Composed entirely of white plastic garbage bags, their material denotes man’s responsibility to the environment, and the need to act together towards a cleaner ecosystem.

The seven deadly Flickr sins!

He sat, watched my blossoming interest in photographing people, and realising I was male, young and could wield a camera, took instant caution in how I approached the idea of shooting women. He looked at me through eyes wiser than mine, through eyes practised with defending the ideas behind his own life's work, where he often photographed women, and felt the need to defend such an act to the uneducated. He lectured me on feminism, tore into every photo I took of a woman knowing that if he didn't someone else would.

The fact remains that no matter how much I think I've learned about why I take the photos I do, about the motives real or subconscious, or the manners in which to defend what I take to the ill-advised, there is always someone out there, smarter than I who can tie whatever I say in knots. Or take what I say and misinterpret it.

None of it matters really. I shoot what I like to shoot, and just hope I do it for the right reasons that I agonise over daily. Hopefully others buy into it too. But several points that came up when talking to my lecturer and friend Mr White, always, always stick in my mind. Dead simple, dead obvious things. 1) Do not use your viewpoint in relation to the subject to imply sexual or gender specific strengths. Don't stand over the woman making does eyes, looking all dominating. You're asking for being slurred... 2) Never try and instill a mood that isn't there. You can't say "look sexy" or "look sad" to achieve a look and a feel, as all you're doing is painting an awkward ideal of the poor image you had in your head.

You can't act these things, you have to uncover them for real. Don't say "look pensive"; "look away to the side of the photo so you look fragile and approachable, so you look vulnerable." Saying these things marks you as a predator with a camera. There's no point creating a mood, it's not real, you just have to capture and convey what is there.

That's portraits, taking something that says something about the subject. Tell a story.

I don't know what this says more about, her and who she is, or me for being so utterly taken in by it. I don't care. :-)

I was telling Sarah the other week that I would like my handwriting to be better. I hate the way I wield a pen; my lettering, like me, tends to try too hard to be something it's not and then give up, throwing away all semblance of constructive form and exhausting itself in a wildly deteriorating devil-may-care mess. Sarah, who possesses perfect penmanship, said this was a most excellent goal and that 2010 should be "The Year Meera Learns to Write."

On New Year's Day, as part of this wish, I priced out a kit to teach myself the absurdly complicated and pretty Spencerian script, but as I was on the verge of ordering it I stopped myself. It was a sign, like many others, of that urge to do too much at once, to reach for something so difficult that if I stopped doing it after a bit, no one could possibly blame me, even me. It was also a distraction from what I really want, which is to learn to write.

Oh, I write. No doubt. I work hard at it. I even get paid for it occasionally (though not often enough). But it's never struck me as something I needed to learn. Could learn. Last year, in a dozen different ways, I realized how untrue both those things are.

So, Spencerian script, you'll have to wait another year, or three, or four. In the meantime, I'll work towards you busily, learning to write.

MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS 2016 ANNUAL # 1

Comics creators come together to celebrate their mutual love of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers!

From short stories like "The Origin of Goldar" to "What Would Happen If Bulk and Skull Became Rangers?", this oversized, anthology collection features contributions from creators like Terry Moore (Strangers in Paradise), Rob Guillory (Chew), James Kochalka (Monkey vs Robot), and more!

This is the main character of my novel series set in my own fantasy world (Wylfgard). The series is called The Legend of the Five.

Thomas 'Tom' Mitchell is a captain in the Imperial army, and the commander of a battallion of one-hundred men. Instead of using the more conventional single sword, spear, or sword and shield style fighting, Tom prefers to take advantage of his ambidexterity and give up the chance to have a shield in favor of dual-wielding blades, something that rather fits his rebellious, tempermental, and very chaotic personality.

Here Tom is seen upon the back of his stallion, Ghostrider.

Both of his short swords are from BrickForge, and his gauntlets, face, and leg designs are decals that I made, and Ghostrider's white 'star' is a decal as well.

In order to better match Tom's hair color, I would have to use the new LEGO dark brown, but LEGO has yet to make a shoulder-length hair piece in that color, so I just went with brown for now. When they make a dark brown one (which, hopefully they will eventually...), you can expect me to switch immediately.

Shuraki is an unprecedented multimedia figure series born from the collaboration between Red Entertainment and Good Smile Company. The characters are original creations from various famous illustrators, and each Shuraki "Trinity Box" release is planned to feature a superbly sculpted 1/8-scale prepainted PVC figure with interchangeable battle-damaged outfit, a content-packed drama CD, and an A5-size illustration booklet.

To start off the series, here's introductory-priced and battle-ready Akatsuki Mishiro, wielding her unique Aonoyuki and Yominomu katanas. Sculpted by Zenko of Iousen, Akatsuki measures about 17cm tall to her tallest lock of hair, and comes packed with an interchangeable battle-damaged school uniform set, plus snow diorama bases for each of her feet. The included 24-page illustration booklet features works by character designer Aki Igarashi, along with information on the story and character, a cast interview, comments from staff, and a column about the making of the music. As if that's not enough, a 92-minute Japanese audio drama spanning two CDs is included, with Ami Koshimizu performing Akatsuki's voice and a special character song!

I was fortunately wielding my tripod as protection.

Anyway, this is Philadelphia's stunning city hall down Broad Street. What a sight. Next time I'm bringing my bear spray.

“A.I. - About Apple’s Identity”

www.flickr.com/photos/stealaway/54271473379/in/dateposted...

### Will Apple Listen to Mark Zuckerberg’s Criticism?

I Don’t Think So—At Least Not for Someone Enchanted by the Apple Vision Pro.

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, recently appeared on a well-known podcast, where he criticized Apple for failing to release an innovative product since the iPhone and for experiencing a decline in sales.

Appearing on a podcast originating from Apple and then proceeding to criticize the company might seem like a lighthearted joke, but I believe he was serious.

Why? Because he now wields a weapon—the AR glasses.

With the support of various institutions and a team of highly skilled professionals, he has likely achieved some notable milestones. Yet, as someone who has been a devoted Apple user since the PowerBook 540c, I still do not sense any real craftsmanship or identity in what he creates.

This sentiment extends to other IT giants that currently dominate the world—Meta, Amazon, Tesla, Microsoft, and Google.

Just by listing their names, readers of this text are likely already picturing their respective CEOs.

In the past, I wrote that Steve Jobs was not an artist.

What he excelled at was weaving together scattered ideas from across the world, expanding upon them, and linking them to the future.

The true creator was Jonathan Ive.

A minority of people may share this perspective with me.

However, when I see these IT moguls quickly shifting their corporate stances the moment the possibility of Trump returning to power emerges, I feel compelled to speak my mind.

The AR glasses, the cars—everything they create lacks a fundamental concept.

Call it ideology or, in lighter terms, identity.

It is true that Tim Cook and Apple’s current team have become more prone to letting slip details about upcoming products before their official release.

I have always loved music.

Artists shut themselves in a studio, cutting off the outside world, pouring their anger, hatred, joy, and sorrow into each note with intense focus.

It’s as if they are entrusting something to their music.

And when they finally release their album, they explain the emotions and thoughts behind its creation.

(Prince, whom I admire, rarely spoke about his work, so understanding his art required engaging with the final product itself.)

Until an album is complete and released, artists say nothing.

It was those artists who moved me to my core.

The faint glow of Apple’s innovation still remains within me.

Not even last year’s widely criticized "failure"—the Apple Vision Pro—could extinguish it.

In fact, it shines even brighter than the iPhone.

Because beyond its cutting-edge electronic components, I can sense a concept, an ideology.

Unfortunately, I will never feel the same from Meta’s AR glasses or Tesla’s cars.

I have written at length, but here is the key article:

**Tim Cook Donates Over $1.5 Million to Trump’s Inauguration Ceremony**

🔗 [Gigazine Article](gigazine.net/news/20250104-apple-ceo-tim-cook-donates-1-m...)

At first glance, this might make it seem like Tim Cook, like other tech CEOs, has sold his soul. But that is not the case.

While Cook personally donated to Trump, Apple itself did not follow the same path as other companies.

Apple refused to bow to Trump.

If asked what Apple’s ideology truly is, I would answer this:

**Apple is a group of individuals who believe in themselves.**

Steve Jobs, watching from heaven, is probably chuckling at this overly serious text I wrote.

A company that does not pander to Trump—

That is Apple. :)

### January 15

After reading a heartwarming article.

8mm film of our honeymoon resurrected after decades.

youtu.be/zH-dG7bMeL4?si=yLF5_f1m-LhAVdPp

We found the 8mm film of our honeymoon for the first time in decades, and burned it onto a DVD.

On June 6, 1993, we got married, and headed straight to Nassau, Bahamas, via New York.

Our destination was the pink sand beach where the late Princess Diana went on her honeymoon.

If you're heading to the Bahamas, this might be a good reference.

The hotel we stayed at was the Ramada Hotel, which no longer exists.

My wife is showing us the hotel room.

But now you can see the beautiful scenery in real time.

When I played the DVD that arrived, it showed footage of our arrival in the Bahamas.

Please take a look if you'd like.

This time, we asked Fujifilm to make the DVD.

I'll post the link below.

Notice regarding "Lot No.402_”.

From now on I will host "Lot No.402_".

The work of Leonardo da Vinci who was sleeping.

That is the number when it was put up for auction.

No sign was written on the work.

So this work couldn't conclude that it was his work.

However # as a result of various appraisals # it was exposed to the sun.

A work that no one notices. A work that speaks quietly without a title.

I will continue to strive to provide it to many people in various ways.

### **Synopsis**

Kei Kitami, a student preparing for university entrance exams, meets Kaori Kamimura, an event companion six years his senior, through social media.

Kaori has come to Tokyo with a dream—to befriend famous artists.

To achieve this, she needs the influence of Ryo Osawa, a well-known radio producer.

During a live radio broadcast, Osawa speaks directly to Kaori:

*"I have a wife and child. But still, I want to see you."*

Meanwhile, Rika Sanjo, Kei’s classmate who secretly harbors feelings for him, is closely watching Kaori’s every move...

---

Main story

There are two reasons why a person faces the sea.

One to enjoy a slice of shine in the sea like children bubbling over in the beach.

The other to brush the dust of memory like an old man who misses old days staring at the shine

quietly.

Those lead to only one meaning though they do not seem to overlap. It’s a rebirth.

I face myself to change tomorrow a vague day into something certain.

That is the meaning of a rebirth.

I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.

After she left I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After

she left # how many times did I depend too much on her # doubt her # envy her and keep on telling lies

until I realized it is love?

I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the

daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.

I had been thinking about such a thing.

However I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see

something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me # a guy filled with ambiguous unstable

tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.

Now I finally can convey how I felt in those days when we met.

www.flickr.com/photos/stealaway/54271473379/in/dateposted...

gigazine.net/news/20250104-apple-ceo-tim-cook-donates-1-m...

Calvary: Charging into battle like the knights of old, mounted atop a trusty steed, the Calvary soldier capitalizes on his two advantages: speed and surprise. Wielding the Calvary saber, he brings a gruesome and quick end to any opposing soldier foolish enough to confront him in close quarters.

German Assault: Although often overlooked, the cannon fodder of the army is often the decisive factor in a battle. Wearing only the essentials of war - clothes, a gun, and a helmet, his sole purpose is to kill the opposition.

Italian Assault: Seen on the precarious yet beautiful peaks of Monte Grappa, the Italian assault uses his stamina and light-weight rifle to his advantage. Easily clambering over the challenging terrain, he optimizes his chances for survival.

could wield perfection,

in all I ever did,

through will alone,

to forge my soul,

to bare the things I hid,

to constrain to right my earthly toils,

to rein my heart to mortal bounds,

lest I look above, these plains-a-soiled,

and harken to more eternal sounds,

unto the hallowed hills,

where my undreamt promises lay,

and wish I were that better man,

I hoped I saw above my crooked way.

I am not what I wish I am, nor am I what I fear,

I’ve still some time to roam, inside of here.

A tool of justice once wielded by the hero of a bygone era. Even to this day, Angels still cower in fear at the mere mention of მითოსური .

A bit of an odd post for me, since it's just a weapon. However, you can expect to see the owner of this legendary hammer rather soon.

The hammer itself is simple, and not meant as much more than a side to the actual MOC. Feel free to glance right past this one.

For those curious, მითოსური is pronounced mit’osuri. It's Georgian for "Mythical."

“A.I. - About Apple’s Identity”

www.flickr.com/photos/stealaway/54271473379/in/dateposted...

---

Now I finally can convey how I felt in those days when we met.

www.flickr.com/photos/stealaway/54271473379/in/dateposted...

gigazine.net/news/20250104-apple-ceo-tim-cook-donates-1-m...

youtu.be/zH-dG7bMeL4?si=yLF5_f1m-LhAVdPp

Took this angle of the Golden Gate last spring from a spot rarely visited by camera wielding tourists and gave it some HDR treatment to enhance that romantic mood. Truth is...I had to climb some fence to take this shot., lol.

66164 chugging towards Exeter St Davids with the Burngullow to Exeter Riverside loaded sand.

I had the opportunity to head to the South-West mid February for a stag weekend in Newquay, so made the most of the trip by wielding the camera at a few locations on the journey down there.

This is the first portion of the consist that would go forward later in the day to Bow, East London, once the 66 has headed back to Burngullow and returned with the second portion. Two trips are required possibly due to issues with the Devon banks, or more likely, weight restrictions on Brunel's bridge over the Tamar between Saltash and Plymouth on the Cornwall / Devon border. In gardening, a spade is a hand tool used to dig or loosen ground, or to break up lumps in the soil. Together with the fork it forms one of the chief implements wielded by the hand in agriculture and horticulture. It is sometimes considered a type of shovel.

Its typical shape is a broad flat blade with a sharp lower edge, straight or curved. The upper edge on either side of the handle affords space for the user's foot, which drives it into the ground. The wooden handle ends in a cross-piece, sometimes T-shaped and sometimes forming a kind of loop for the hand.

This monument located on Mount Buzludzha is the biggest ideological building in Bulgaria. It was built as a tribute to the creation of the Bulgarian socialist movement in 1891.

The construction of Buzludzha was made possible thanks to government funds and supporters’ donations for an amount of around 14 186 000 leva (around 7 000 000 €). The site was built by civil engineering troops from the Bulgarian army and volunteers. The master builder was General Delcho Delchev who was in charge of the Stara Zagora civil engineering section. The author of this project was the architect Guéorguy Stoilov. Several famous painters and sculptors have participated to the decoration.

Ever since the superseding of Bulgarian president Todor Givkovand and the political changes that occurred in Bulgaria from 1989, the state of the monument has continued to decay. portraits of Ludmila and Todor Givkov have been destroyed. The copper adornments have been stolen. The building is slowly disintegrating; the monument is abandoned and no public institution seems to be concerned by the conservation of renovation of the building. The Bulgarian socialist party itself is not taking any action towards the maintenance of its most important symbol. The big star has been perforated by gunshots because it was thought to be made out of ruby!

On Bulgarian derps tour with Dursty, John, Andrew and Mike. Visited very little due to the harsh roads and long drives in two car convoy, busted by a pistol and axe wielding guard, picking up a hitchhiker, removing a hire car wing mirror with a bin, countless selfies, a stray dog and not forgetting an insect bite from hell that gave me a club hand.

But the main event was accessed twice and was the main objective for this trip so all was good.

To this date, there is a legend in the land of Fallenwood that speaks of a group of extraordinary travelers, called the Five Furies. This odd collection of adventurers arrived at the border of the land all out of the sudden in the midst of the 6th era of Baridam. At the time, the land was suffering under the cruel rule of Baridam VI. and was plagued by illness and famine, with little hope for the ordinary citizen for a better life. But soon word spread about the odd fellows that seemed so different, yet shared a strong bond of unknown origin.

Among the group was a raven haired, athletic woman, only known as the Goldsmith. Wielding a shining gold hammer, she crushed her enemies with unrelenting brutality, yet was generous to the people, using the riches acquired in the raids of Baridam’s strongholds not for personal gain, but to create golden tools and utensils for the poor.

Regarded as the most beautiful of the group was a girl called Arrowfeather, who tiptoed along branches and leafs, never spotted by her enemies until her whistling arrows ended their lives. She was said to be an excellent singer and storyteller and some of Fallenwood’s most well known songs and tales are assumed to stem from her.

Still worshipped as a goddess in some parts of the land is the Herbalist, a soft speaking, warm tempered woman, well versed in the art of healing and brewing medicine. A pleasant smell is said to have followed her wherever she appeared and breathing it in is assumed to have cured most illnesses already. She was the one to accompany Arrowfeather’s singing by fiddling a tune on her flute, which she always carried around.

Most feared, but also admired, was the Arch Magestress. This witty and slender woman was entangled in magical business of the most obscure kind and could conjure everything from a fluffy bunny to a fire boasting dragon with so much as a snap of her finger. It is her, who is said to have climbed mount Everfrost to let lightning rain on the forces of Baridam in the final battle.

Lastly, the most mysterious member of the group was the Lady of Glass. Having snow pale skin, some considered her to be a ghost, but as expeditions into the unknown regions of the world have shown years later, she probably was just a Moonshadow Elf far away from home. Law abiding people had no reason to be afraid of her, but thieves and thugs soon learned to fear her, as she seemingly merged with the shadows at night, slaying them when they least expected it.

During their travels, the Furies freed the land of the cruel rule of Baridam and brought wealth and health to Fallenwood. However, as suddenly as they had emerged, they disappeared one day, never to be seen again. To this day, it is unknown what brought them here and what common goal bound them together. While they may be no more than mere legends to some, there are still those who pray for their return until this day, as Fallenwood is again on the brink of another age of darkness.

My entry for the second round of the Figbrafcentral tournament. The theme was DnD and I had a lot of fun creating characters and their backstory for it. I only played a pen and paper RPG once so far, but would love to do it again!

A flamethrower-wielding vigilante who fights for justice.

(Actually a tablescrap, based on Drillex (from Ultra Agents) that gave me a chance to try out a new camera...)

In Norse mythology, Thor is the hammer-wielding god of thunder, lightning, storms, the protection of mankind. The thunderous sound emanating from this wave action is magnified by the huge gaping cave as wave action works through this geologic formation. Thor’s Well has a reputation for being extremely dangerous, but not any more dangerous than the surrounding jagged coast. The Pacific Ocean is fierce and truly unforgiving here.

Most incidents in the area happen by sneaker waves surprising visitors who are busy looking at the well. It is very close to the edge and waves come crashing over the coastline too. Just be sure you are aware of your surroundings the entire time you are there. I was really close to the well and never felt like I was in danger of being sucked in, but if you’re clumsy and prone to tripping, I would steer clear.

In Germanic mythology, Thor (/θɔːr/; from Old Norse: Þórr, runic ᚦᚢᚱ þur) is a hammer-wielding god associated with thunder, lightning, storms, sacred groves and trees, strength, the protection of mankind and also hallowing and fertility. Besides Old Norse Þórr, extensions of the god occur in Old English as Þunor and in Old High German as Donar (runic ᚦᛟᚾᚨᚱ þonar). All forms of the deity stem from a Common Germanic *Þunraz (meaning thunder).

Thor is a prominently mentioned god throughout the recorded history of the Germanic peoples, from the Roman occupation of regions of Germania, to the Germanic expansions of the Migration Period, to his high popularity during the Viking Age, when, in the face of the process of the Christianization of Scandinavia, emblems of his hammer, Mjölnir, were worn and Norse pagan personal names containing the name of the god bear witness to his popularity.

Due to the nature of the Germanic corpus, narratives featuring Thor are only attested in Old Norse, where Thor appears throughout Norse mythology. Norse mythology, largely recorded in Iceland from traditional material stemming from Scandinavia, provides numerous tales featuring the god. In these sources, Thor bears at least fifteen names, is the husband of the golden-haired goddess Sif, is the lover of the jötunn Járnsaxa, and is generally described as fierce eyed, red haired and red bearded.

With Sif, Thor fathered the goddess (and possible valkyrie) Þrúðr; with Járnsaxa, he fathered Magni; with a mother whose name is not recorded, he fathered Móði, and he is the stepfather of the god Ullr. By way of Odin, Thor has numerous brothers, including Baldr. Thor has two servants, Þjálfi and Röskva, rides in a cart or chariot pulled by two goats, Tanngrisnir and Tanngnjóstr (that he eats and resurrects), and is ascribed three dwellings (Bilskirnir, Þrúðheimr, and Þrúðvangr). Thor wields the mountain-crushing hammer, Mjölnir, wears the belt Megingjörð and the iron gloves Járngreipr, and owns the staff Gríðarvölr. Thor's exploits, including his relentless slaughter of his foes and fierce battles with the monstrous serpent Jörmungandr—and their foretold mutual deaths during the events of Ragnarök—are recorded throughout sources for Norse mythology. wikipedia
