Most of these drivers are in a hurry to get to work or school or somewhere else. So the only colors they're paying attention to are the reds, greens and yellows of traffic lights. And ignoring a most breathtaking sight caught by my X-E1 and 27mm lens! Hehe!

NOTE: This is a 15-mph only School Zone and our light is red, so I have all the time to shoot safely!

Travel photography is never easy for me... My eyes are not sharp enough to make plenty of photos in a visit. Instead, most of the time, I need to stay a place for a little while before I can "feel" the urge to take photos! But once I find a spot I like, I tend to go back at different time of the day to uncover the beauty of the scene. That's what happened here... I like this corner of Boston very much in the morning light, so I decided to come back for dusk shooting on the same day.

So here you go... Boston skyline... Same place, same day, different hours! :-)

"The Murtoa No 1 Grain Store, also known as the Murtoa Stick Shed is the largest rustically-built structure in the world. It was a 'temporary' grain shed, 270m long and 60m wide, built in late 1941 and early 1942, using 560 unmilled mountain ash tree trunks. [Australian heritage site: Murtoa No 1 Grain Store]

Murtoa Stick Shed, formally known as the Number 1 Emergency Grain Store, is a large grain store (silo) in Murtoa, a town in the Wimmera region of Victoria, Australia. It is located adjacent to the railway line in western Victoria’s vast wheatbelt. 560 upright poles, some 80-foot-long, went into building the cathedral-like structure. The joints are held together with galvanised hoop iron, allowing it to move in the wind. Many more poles went into fabricating the roof trusses and bracing. The slender mountain ash poles were probably salvaged from native forests at Powelltown, Noojee, Erica and the Otways burnt during the 1939 bushfires. The Murtoa Stick Shed, as it became known, is 870 feet long, 198 feet wide and 62 feet 10 inches high at the ridge, covering an area of 170,000 square feet and with a capacity of 3.4 million bushels or 95,000 tonnes. Australia experienced a wheat glut in the late 1930s as traditional export markets of Great Britain and Western Europe evaporated due to a shift in world trade and restrictions to shipping. By the outbreak of the War in 1939, the Australian wheat industry produced between 150 and 160 million bushels per year, of which 100 million had been traditionally exported. But only 48 of the 160 silos planned under the 1935 Victorian Silo Scheme had been completed.

The Murtoa Stick Shed was hurriedly built over four months between September 1941 and January 1942 and filled with grain within six months of its construction. The wheat stayed in storage until 1944. It was the first emergency bulk wheat storage shed built in Victoria and is the only one remaining of its type in Australia. Wartime shortages meant the builders had to rely upon and adapt traditional bush construction techniques. It’s claimed to be the largest “rustically-built” structure in the world. The Forests Commission Victoria (FCV) produced over half a million lineal feet of poles from State forests mainly for emergency storage of wheat in 1941/42." (Wikipedia)

The arrival of summer means the arrival of the Poppy fields. I was lucky enough to find out about the location of an Opium field in Dorset, something a bit different to the red ones. The sunrise was early, but it was beautiful, with some wonderful strong light.

Thrilled to announce this image has been Highly Commended in British Wildlife Photography Awards 2017!

I started my day quite early to explore downtown Boston. I drove around, trying to unfold the beautiful city at morning time. Unfortunately, I got lost and wasn't able to find anything exciting. Therefore, I decided to come back to the Seaport District where we briefly stopped by in the previous afternoon and saw how it looked in the early morning...

I was really attracted to the serene scene here, so I walked down to the floating dock, sat down on the ground, and enjoyed the moments.

Bug Light / Portland Breakwater Light

South Portland, Maine

The light was fully restored in 1989 and was reactivated in 2002. It appears as a private aid to navigation in the US Coast Guard Light List as South Portland Breakwater Light.[2] Today a park named after the lighthouse, Bug Light Park, allows visitors to view the Portland Breakwater Light up close, while memorializing the shipbuilding efforts of World War II.[4] The light was added to the National Register of Historic Places as Portland Breakwater Light on June 19, 1973

Shooting this image in the confines of an apartment was a challenge. We had to shift our dining table to make room for the camera. The title of this image was inspired by my kids, who thought it looked 'creepy'.

Making this image was a lot of fun with children around, who especially enjoyed shooting in the dark and later the editing process. Each and every hot pixel was dutifully pointed out, till I cloned it away.

Will be busy printing and framing in nice large, matted formats and frames and museum glass! Five of these photos will be printed on 40" x 60" floating wall mounted metal sheets! I think I know which--will share photos of the photos hanging on the walls!

And I am mounting some on plexiglass/acryllic--front mounting them! Some I am printing on lossy fuji-crystal archival paper too, and then front mounting 40"x60" versions to plexiglass--will send photos!

The secret to HDR photography is that you want people to say, "Woe dude--that's unreal!" And not, "Dude--that's not real!" "Unreal" is the word they use when they're trying to figure out the photo--what makes it cool--is it a photo? Is it painted? How'd it come to be--how'd you bend the light that way? "That's not real," is what they say if you have the saturation/HDR/ etc. turned up too high. :)

And all the best on Your Epic Hero's Odyssey!

The new Lightroom rocks!

Beautiful magnificent clouds!

View your artistic mission into photography as an epic odyssey of heroic poetry! Take it from Homer in Homer's Odyssey: "Tell me, O muse, of that ingenious hero who travelled far and wide after he had sacked the famous town of Troy. Many cities did he visit, and many were the nations with whose manners and customs he was acquainted; moreover he suffered much by sea while trying to save his own life and bring his men safely home; but do what he might he could not save his men, for they perished through their own sheer folly in eating the cattle of the Sun-god Hyperion; so the god prevented them from ever reaching home. Tell me, too, about all these things, O daughter of Jove, from whatsoever source you may know them. " --Samuel Butler Translation of Homer's Odyssey

Had a great time waking up at 5 AM every day to shoot tunnel view and then driving around down in the valley to Half Dome, Bridalviel Falls, Cook's Meadow and the glorious Cook's Meadow elm tree, Sentinel Bridge, Valley View, Swinging Bridge, and more! Yosemite winters are made for black and whites, and Ansel Adam's ghost haunts the brilliant landscape scenery!

The most epic "Ansel Adams" view is tunnel view where one can see El Capitan, Bridalviel Falls, and Half Dome over magnificent trees, snow, rising fogs, and breaking mists. Enjoy!

Been busy traveling and shooting landscapes and working on my books The Golden Hero's Odyssey about the golden rectangle and divine proportion I use in a lot of my compositions!
