Thank you for visiting, and for your kind comments and favorites. They are greatly appreciated!

The forests around the Makarora area are simply spectacular. Beautiful deep green colours with clean streams of fast waters braking the otherwise uninterrupted silence.

It took me a good couple of hours to get this shot right. I had to take it from a suspended bridge which wasn't very stable. But it was definitely worth it.

In one word, it's steampunk. I wanted to emphasize its structural beauty of the underworld in black and white.

More than thirty long pipes are stretched around the ceiling of the underground passageway located in Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo. Some of them look old and rusty, but there is a strong indication that they are working for certain purposes that is not sure for ordinary people passing by.

This is the Alaska Range, including Denali, from a small float plane (de Haviland DHC-2 Beaver) about 100 miles to the south. We were on our way to look at bears, using a boat based at the Redoubt Bay Lodge. It is a vast wide landscape from 1000 feet in the air. We are looking out across the Cook Inlet having just taken off from Anchorage.

"... and it stands in the grey of the City, no time for pity..." as the song goes.

Cream's "World of Pain" instantly comes to mind when I walk past Moorgate in London Wall. This magnificent oaktree, however, evokes no pity - only admiration. It copes very well in the middle of tall office buildings and heavy traffic. Busy Square-Mile bees walk past oblivious, never raising their heads to marvel at this 'roof'...

We were all feeling strange about this trip. We had been riding in the Aperture Academy bus for hours in the dark, and had now turned onto a bumpy downhill unpaved road. As we rumbled along we all thought “this had better be a good spot.” The bus parked and we unloaded our gear at first light...and then we saw this. Wow.

Fishing has existed as a means of obtaining food since the Mesolithic period. By the time of the Ancient Egyptians, fishermen provided the majority of food for Egyptians.

Out of the darkness of the stylish parking garage into the warm light of the northernmost university city on earth. Tromsø is a lively but quiet city, the houses are colorful and friendly, the seagulls are cheeky like everywhere else. The harbor is just a stone's throw from the parking garage. The picture shows the old harbor, with a promenade, restaurants, cafes, museums, a wonderful place to linger. Especially in this weather. It's 21 °C today!! That's very warm for a September day 300 km north of the Arctic Circle 😊

I took this a week or so ago, trying out a new wide angle lens. It's a Laowa 9mm, Fuji fit. No autofocus possible with this lens but manual isn't a problem with the Fuji focus peaking. Lighting was challenging so the ISO was up at 3200.

I wasn't wildly impressed with my results - thought the quality of similar images was far superior on my Zeiss 12mm lens, so I probably won't keep the Laowa.

Happy New Year! Let's hope 2021 is kinder than 2020 was (wouldn't be difficult) and travel becomes possible again.
