Why have I never noticed the off centre boot handle on these before?

Not sure why but this older shot appeals to me but I've get putting off posting it. It is a bit of a golden oldie at this point :-) I'd probably use this as some sort of texture if I knew enough to do that sort of thing.

Hope everyone is having a great Saturday! I'm being dad to an extended family for the weekend and fighting off the remnants of this darned cold. Thanks as always for your fun comments, invites and faves!

A quick question after arriving from today's hike... Do others too use ball head as a coffee cup holder? I mean that's why it has a spirit level, right?

Window To Tomorrow

Nestled in nature, it's easy to see why the Hog Farm hippie commune would have moved to this actual hog farm on top of a mountain in the 1960s. Founded by peace activist Wavy Gravy, the Hog Farm is perhaps best known for their involvement at Woodstock. Now abandoned, it was ultimately decimated by a catastrophic wildfire. This was a day for a lot of walking. Earlier that day, I had walked three miles for my usual exercise. Then in the evening, I made the 1.3-mile night hike up to the steep mountain trail. I probably walked for about two miles while photographing. Then the hike back down, where my knees began feeling the weight of the camera bag and the day's events. To create this night photo, I set the camera on a tripod. I opened the camera shutter for a long time. While the shutter was open, I walked around with a handheld ProtoMachines LED2 light capable of producing different colors, and illuminated the building with warm white and red light. During the exposure, all the light I shined on the subject was cumulative. This process is called "light painting". Why? Because one uses the flashlight as a paint brush, "brushing" on light, not paint. Light painting to illuminate subjects is a beautiful, addictive art, as you can walk around the scene, deciding what to bring to light and what to keep in shadow. And it's more fun than AI-generated images.

My Face Is My Canvas - Emulation # 30 Your Such A Joker

Walk The Line - Secret

It's been a while since I felt well enough to actually get out of bed or off the couch to actually take a photo and put some creativity in it. I am so happy I am feeling so much better today. Just in time for the weekend.

I was stoked when I saw the theme this week was Joker. I love the movie Dark Knight and knew that is what I was going to do.

Thanks to my hubby for painting my face for me this morning and lending me his clothes. I left the blood splatter "Why So Serious" written on my daughters shower curtain. She is going to freak when she sees it. I'm such a meanie.

Confession

I am afraid of guns. I don't like holding them even when they are not loaded. I'm so afraid its going to go off and I accidentally kill myself or someone else. I guess its because I don't really know how to use one. I have never been taught how to use one. My father had one growing up but it was hidden. I would like to learn things about them so I am not afraid of them.

Another confession. I love blood. The sight of it doesn't bother me at all. In fact it fascinates me. I wanted to be a Nurse when I was a kid just so I could see blood. Even when my kids are bleeding I want to take a picture. I know I'm pretty sick!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Friday and a wonderful weekend.

My bike is similar to a el MTB, I have very coarse tires, so I wonder why they said this is forbidden...

You will have to see the next photo to find out.

I have been complaining about the cold, the weather, and the volcano. I thought it was time I said exactly why I love it here.

1. I can see wildlife any day of the week--sometimes I can see it in my yard.

2. People are so easy going--no rush to do anything in particular.

3. I can take a drive in my own neighborhood and see some of the most beautiful landscape in the world.

4. I never sweat because it is too hot. I sweat but for other reasons.

5. I breathe fresh air. Except for when volcano's are erupting.

6. I get a big fat PFD check every year for doing nothing but living here.

7. I get to eat some of the best fresh seafood in the world. Don't even get me started on the berries.

8. I can see Russia from my house. ha! I had to do it. =]

9. I can ski, hike, climb on glaciers in the summer time.

10. I can see the sun rise and set with in a few hours of each other--in both winter and summer.

Tell me lies later,

I'll be around for a while.

I am lonely but you can free me

All in the way that you smile
