While we were shooting some waders on the ground, noticed flock of Greater Flamingos flying at a distance. I had no time to change the settings on the camera, just clicked One shot.
I thought of sharing with you.
Taken at Masirah Island, Oman.
Nikkor 200-500mm Lens handheld.
Have a peaceful weekend everyone.
Thank you so much for dropping by my photostream and leaving all the kind comments. They are very much appreciated.

While getting a possible last real chance for a fresh air day with my better half before some of the first nasty days of winter sets in a few days with some decent snow in the forecast we came across along the Hudson River there is some construction fencing to some large scale project that painted by I believe by some local school kids. Amazing what some kids can do.
Looking her tranquil angelic face while sleeping on father's chest I felt so emotional and in awe.
It was a hot day at the beach.
The best comment on this photo, which I liked the most was "This is the moment when no father will get up to go get a cold beer because he stopped breathing."

While being for Work in Canada, Far away from The Netherlands. :) i had some spare time to discover a bit of Banff National Parc. :)
While on the way to Tunai from Chakrata.
Workers getting ready to start off their day laying optical fiber cables.
While on Safari in Amboseli, Kenya, we were fortunate enough to see the top of the mountain! It's not always visible. Mount Kilimanjaro is actually in Tanzania.
I am jumping ahead of myself but wanted to post this shot from Twillingate. We made our way from Halifax to St. John's, Newfoundland. The next day we rose early and made our way north.
Our journey to Twillingate took a mear 4 hours which was filled with lots to see along the way. When we arrived, it was cool and raining. We heard about this iceberg which like many, had lodged itself in a bay.
My wife was most helpful as we stood in the rain while she protected my lens. Those shots will be posted later while this one came the next night at sunset. If you zoom in you will note the scale comparing the berg to the trees on the land behind it.
While I was sick and stuck in bed, my plants metamorphosed in just 5 days...but I took photos anyway.
While walking the Devils Postpile Upper Trail with a view looking to the southwest across the hexagonal patterns with its columnar basalt. My thinking in composing this image was to make more of a layered approach with the nearby overlook that then lead to a more distant mountainside. As the skies above were mainly overcast with forest fire haze, I worked the angle on my Nikon SLR camera to have the surrounding landscape filling most of the image while minimizing what I felt was a negative space with the skies above.
While exploring the island I came across a very interesting rock formation dubbed "The Quarry". These natural rock cliffs give the impression of quarried rock with straight cuts. I loved the contrast of warm sunrise and cold snow. Enjoy!
While looking for the tiny Ceylalictus variegatus in a Rethymno beach area, I came across even smaller bees. At around 3 mm these are supposed to be the smallest bees in the Western Palearctic.

I've been trying to make the best out of my weekends lately :) And of course one has to enjoy beautiful autumn mornings, with cool air and bright sun while lounging in bed :)

While there has been a church on this commanding height in Jaffa since the 13th Century, the current structure dates from 1888-94. It is serviced by the Franciscan order. It is very, very, overtouristed, but it is very, very, pretty especially in a magical Tel Aviv sunset.
While 238 may not run anymore, which during the GTW days was known as the Laser, Q148 is a pretty good copy in modern times. The train would typically have 2-3 CN wide cabs leading it across the GTW, and one of those CN widecabs made it out of Harvey back in 2017 leading under the now gone Newberry Rd. bridge as they approach Durand.
While walking near Bishop's Castle (Jan 2025). Sadler's Big Wood ahead, the Shropshire Hills in the distance.
While on the Caribbean Island of Dominica, I went on a nature tour of the mountains and its rainforest. Our guide and driver was a young man named Elvis, and it seemed that he could identify everything in the forest.
Elvis was leading us on a sandy path through the forest when he ran, jumped onto a tree trunk and then climbed up about 20 feet.
When he got back down, he had a giant walking stick, Acrophyla wuelfingi. We have walking sticks in North America, but none as large as this one.
While everyone else was feeling tired and crowded, annoyed with waiting, the woman in the center behind the others decided to embrace the moment and reach for the sun. Sometimes, the waiting isn't the hardest part.

Btw, I think they were either waiting for Empress Of or Thundercat.

While passing by Tunxi in order to climb the Huangshan mountain, it was a great opportunity to have a look on Hongcun and Tunxi, the two "Unesco World Heritage" classed traditional villages. These places are perfect example of the typical architecture of the Anhui Province.
Let's say that wandering the these little street is like traveling in ages and - for us - culture. Everything is picturesque and remind us of some clichés we took with us in China. Chinese people themselves seem to be fond of this perfect exemple of their past and tradition. Probably because - like everywhere else in the world - modernity create nostalgy.
These place is so iconic that many movies are filmed there such as "Wo hu cang long" ("Tigre et Dragon" in french and "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" in english), by Ang Lee (2000).
While photographing Chickadees, through the snow comes this cute little dude finding the fallen seeds to munch on, good for him !!.
Thanks very much for viewing!
While there were an amazing number of Scoters on the opposite side of Indian River Inlet, only one landed near me on the south side. When a Coast Guard boat came into the Inlet, the Scoter took off toward me.

a rainy day on the way back from meeting a group of photographers. this beautiful old car was in front of me. how could i not shoot this?
While travelling through the streets of Kolkata, I reached Kumartuli, the exquisite idol city..It seemed a rare and unique planet to me out there..Being surrounded by the unborn idols, being immersed in strangeness, diversity and vibrance..I was lost in one unique world....
While walking around and exploring the Bisti Badlands with a view looking to the east to some eroded formations present in this part of Bisti/De-Na-Zin Wilderness Area. What I wanted to capture with this image was to align myself with the hoodoo formation to my front and bring out a pattern or grouping. The rest was finding a balance with the hoodoo formation and using the blue skies and clouds as a backdrop to highlight this formation.
While I lived in Spain, I loved to explore the small rural villages. I captured this scene in Cañada de la Leña, a tiny village with a population of 138. The name most certainly refers to the grapevines that have been surrounding the village for centuries. During the summer, the temperature in this region of Spain has been known to reach 45ºC - the shade from this tree must have provided some relief!

While I was away for a week and a half, the flowers here have all been blooming. I don't know what this one is but it sure popped out when I walked around the yard this morning.
While everyone and their brother was out chasing the KCS 4006 on the CN, we hung out on the Ottumwa Sub for the day. I had pondered going home after commitments on Saturday in southern Iowa, but after the boys reaction to this heritage unit, I was glad we stayed. A 25th anniversary unit leads this Chiles, KY, empty working west from Galesburg to Lincoln. The train is about 150 miles from the next crew change point at Creston. We gave chase as the train rolls thru the hogback west of Lockridge along highway 34.
While waiting to catch the steam double header at Jim Thorpe, Pa. the Reading Blue Mountain and Northern e NS F-units showed up. 275 starting life as a Chicago Great Western F7b and 275 starting life as a Baltimore and Ohio F7a being upgraded along the way to an F9a.
Berin, Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church (Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche)
A snapshot from the car, which, seen on my computer, didn't look too too bad after all. A bit blurred, well, but you can take it as a metaphor for the speed how we rush through life, how we leave everything blurry behind us.
Quoting Wikipedia:
The original church on the site was built in the 1890s. It was badly damaged in a bombing raid in 1943. The present building, which consists of a church with an attached foyer and a separate belfry with an attached chapel, was built between 1959 and 1963. The damaged spire of the old church has been retained and its ground floor has been made into a memorial hall.
The Memorial Church today is a famous landmark of western Berlin, and is nicknamed by Berliners "der hohle Zahn", meaning "the hollow tooth".

While waiting for a clear signal to continue southward, down time was well used to get some accumulated snow off of the front porch of Illinois Central SD40-2 6259.

While waiting for the shot of a westbound I had my heart set on here I was served up a couple of eastbounds first. Using my wide angle lense I was able to accentuate wide sweep of the arches and the deep shadows cast beneath. To see the westbound I finally got check out this post: flic.kr/p/2k6eqiL
Train 20R-12 (intermodal Landers Yard, Chicago to Port Newark, NJ) sails east on Norfolk Southern's Pittsburgh Line (ex PRR Middle Division) near MP190. The train is crossing the nearly 700 ft long six arch stone bridge over the Juniata River dating from 1906.

While down shooting the Lower Antelope Slot Canyons I was amazed by the multicolored lines in the sandstone. I tried to find a few compositions that really showed these lines while also displaying the unique quality of light down there in the canyons.

While getting ready to leave this magnificent place, the clouds above Eystrahorn started to change into a lenticular-like cloud, capping this mountain range. View this image large to appreciate the detail from my 5DSR.

Have a fun and exciting day dear Flickr friends !
While CMQ's Job 2 passes by the fisherman in the foreground, they were not phased by the passing train rumbling over the bridge. The only thing bothered was the bird flying overhead that flew out of a tree near the tracks. 3 Barns and 2 GP38's lead todays Eastbound, the 38's were along for the ride back to Maine most likely for service.
