This daisy, which I believe to be one of the many varieties of Cape Daisy (Osteospermum) was growing in a back yard. I find it difficult to focus on the entire flower at once. I guess this photo isn't really focused well at all. We'll call that a feature, not a bug . . . Softly lovely that way.

The ray flowers on these plants are beautiful, I think. The disc flowers are, too, but you can't see them in this photo, except for a bit.

Getting to Bromo is a challenge, which is an understatement of sorts. Before you board the bus, many people will try to broker you tickets that you can buy directly on board, basically guys that make a living on ripping people off. You board a bus in Surabaya for a very long journey down to another bus station where you can transfer to public bus which will only depart once the public bus in completely full, there are no timelines. Hawkers and musicians with small guitars get on and off regularly screaming songs at you and selling all sorts of fish flavored snacks.

Once you arrive at the public bus station, you'll encounter any number of people trying to rip you off. You can just pay $10 to a motorbike to have one hell of a ride up the mountain, which is exactly what I did. I purchased a tour which cost me maybe $35 and included a park ticket I'd later find out was completely unnecessary. Although for the price having a jeep drive me to the summit of the lookout in the AM was worth it anyway.

This view is actually a seldom seen view of bromo as it requires effort. Hiking up the mountain side opposite and in the middle of the night hiking down. It's actually incredibly steep, and not an easy climb. I ate dinner in a small village that night as I left town with no food and didn't realize how far it was. A local farmer lady and older man showed me incredible hospitality and fed me some of their amazing Indonesian food. This shot is from just after the sunset during twilight hour, and brought some of the best light for me to Bromo of my entire experience there.

Good morning everyone and Happy Furry Friday...which is just for today. As for something furry, this little Eastern Chipmunk (Tamias striatus) is about as small as furry things get around here at 4 - 6 inches (10 - 15 cm) in length (excluding the tail) and weighing about 3 ounces (130 grams). One could easily fit in your hand.

This one made an appearance on the back walkway while I was attempting to get some photos of hummingbirds feeding at a Lantana plant. Of which I failed miserably.

As for the full cheek pouches, they're most likely stuffed with Black Oil Sunflower seeds, which I often see it gathering from under a feeder nearby where this pic was taken.

I posted one other pic of this same Chipmunk in the comment section so don't forget to click on "view previous comments" if you don't see the additional photo. Even better, scroll to it by clicking on the arrow thingy to the right of the above pic where you'll also find some text describing this cute little critter.

Thank you for stopping by...and I hope you have a truly great day and weekend.

This magnificent Japanese Garden which is located in Clingendael Park in The Hague and Due to its fragility, the garden can be visited only during a short period of the year, from end of April to mid June. The vibrant colors and the Intoxicating aromas of the flowers make the visit an unforgettable experience not to be missed.

The Japanese Garden was created in the beginning of the 20th century by the former owner of the country estate of Clingendael, Marguérite M. Baroness van Brienen (1871-1939), also called Lady Daisy. Lady Daisy sailed off a number of times by ship to Japan and brought back to the Netherlands a number of lanterns, a water cask, sculptures, the pavilion, the little bridges and several plants.

The original design with the serene pond, meandering brook and the winding pathways has remained intact all these years.

The Municipality of The Hague has always taken great care of the Japanese Garden because of its uniqueness and tremendous historical value. The garden was placed on the list of national historical monuments in 2001.

----------------------------- JESUS ✝️ SAVES-------------------------------

SALVATION THROUGH FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST - ALONE!

12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."

❤️❤️ IT'S ALL JESUS AND NONE OF OURSELVES! ❤️❤️

16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the SALVATION of everyone WHO BELIEVES: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel a RIGHTEOUSNESS FROM GOD IS REVEALED, a righteousness that is by FAITH FROM FIRST TO LAST, just as it is written: "THE RIGHTEOUS WILL LIVE BY FAITH." (Romans 1:16-17)

16 KNOW that a man is NOT justified by observing the law, but by FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be JUSTIFIED BY FAITH in CHRIST and NOT by observing the law, BECAUSE BY OBSERVING THE LAW NO ONE WILL BE JUSTIFIED. (Galatians 2:16)

1. Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2. BY THIS GOSPEL YOU ARE SAVED, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.

3. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4. that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5. and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. 6. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8. and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.

9. For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them--yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 11. Whether, then, it was I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed. (1 Corinthians 15:1-11)

7. Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. 8. All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9. I am the gate; whoever enters through me WILL BE SAVED. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10. The thief comes only to STEAL and KILL and DESTROY; I have come that they may have LIFE, and have it to the FULL. (John 10:7-10)

1 Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. 2 For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. 3 Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. 4 Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.

5 Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: "The man who does these things will live by them." 6 But the righteousness that is by faith says: "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?'" (that is, to bring Christ down) 7 "or 'Who will descend into the deep?'" (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:1-13)

Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!

So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

Almost exactly one year ago, I was in San Jose and gave two talks at a conference and since my flight back to New York was on Sunday, I decided to visit San Francisco on Saturday which turned out to be an amazing experience and also a little bit of an adventure.

The whole journey started in my Airbnb in San Jose, where I told to my landlord about my planned trip to San Francisco and she said, that her husband comes from San Francisco and he can drive me to the train station in San Jose in the morning. I wasn’t sure if she was serious since I told her that I want to be there very early at around 4-5 am (and it was weekend), but then her husband joined the conversation and said that he gets up this early everyday for work and also on the weekends since he is so used to this rhythm that he cannot sleep any longer. Of course I was super happy since I didn’t have to take a taxi or an Uber and indeed, the next morning he got up almost the same time as I did and drove me to the train station. After buying the ticket, I enjoyed the ride with the Caltrain and around 7 a.m. I arrived at the San Francisco train station.

I actually looked up a lot of the things about the Golden Gate Bridge which I wanted to visit, but I didn’t spend time on reading about the public transport. First I was not sure, were my bus station was, and after asking a woman which turned out to be a bus driver, she told me that I should jump onto this bus standing there, but I can only pay cash and I do not get any change from the ticket machine in the bus. She was like „Hurry, otherwise you don’t catch that bus!“ and so I jumped into the bus and noticed that I only had 10, 20 or 50 dollar bills which I told the driver. He then looked angry at me and said: „Please stand back!“ Since I had no ticket and he sometimes looked back at me through the mirror, I got out of the bus at one of the next stations since I felt very uncomfortable. Funnily, another bus stopped right in front of my nose, the door opened and this woman from earlier was sitting in there and saying: „Did he threw you out of the bus?!?“ I told her that I decided to leave the bus and then she said: „Come on, jump in.“ We then started to talk, she was super kind and asked me where I’m from and what I’m doing here and after showing her that I don’t have any coins or one dollar bills, she gave me a ticket for free and even told me that this is valid for a few hours. Whilst driving through San Francisco, she then told me a lot of things like „Look, there you can see the famous Lombard Street a little!“ meaning that I got more or less a little tour during my bus ride. After a few stations, she then told me that I have to get out of the bus here and switch to another one which is already labeled with „Golden Gate Bridge“. So I got out of her bus and thanked her a few times since I was just so happy that she was so kind. Since I knew that my ticket was still valid a few hours, I decided to quickly walk back to Lombard street since I didn’t want to miss it if I’m already here on the other end of the world. After seeing this wound street and a lot of people there, I walked back to the bus station and jumped onto the bus to the Golden Gate Bridge and arrived there around 9 am.

First, I took a few images from the parking lot of the Welcome Center, had a look into the center to make up my mind which souvenirs I might buy later and then I decided to eat something such that I have enough energy to walk around and see all the viewpoints I wanted to visit. I then decided to first walk over the bridge which was pretty cool, especially when you feel this massive steel construction moving and shaking a little when cars drive by. At the other end, I walked up to the Battery Spencer viewpoint, one of the most popular viewpoints, at least judging from the crowds of people there. The view was indeed very nice, but there was no fog around the bridge or nice clouds in the air and thus it was photographically a bit boring. Nevertheless it was very nice and I then continued the road up the hill a little and after that I decided to go back down and cross the bridge again to get back to the Welcome Center.

After having some lunch and buying some souvenirs, I then decided to continue to the next „viewpoint“ called Marshall Beach. I was actually a little early for sunset, but I thought better be early than late, especially since I didn’t exactly know how to get there. It turned out that it was pretty easy to find and I went down the stairs and was at the beach around 4 p.m. Since there were a few hours left til sunset, I played around with some very long exposures which didn’t turn out very great. Since I was still pretty far away from the bridge, I noticed people climbing over some rocks at the other end of the beach and hence I did the same and got to another beach closer to the bridge, where I found this rock with all its algae on it and I thought that this might serve as a nice foreground. Since I’ve never done any seascape photography, I played around with different shutter speeds and timings and found, that I get the best results when I start exposing after a wave hits the rock and the water is flowing back into the ocean. I then took a lot of images as the sun went down and got my feet wet a few times due to some bigger waves which was totally worth it I think :) The sunset itself was not very spectacular since the sun was mostly behind the clouds, but there was some red color in the sky which I enhanced in post processing. Of all the images I took, this one turned out to be my favorite since I really like how the water winds itself around the stone in the foreground, creating this nice S-curve which leads to the Golden Gate Bridge in the distance. Hope you like it too! :)

The hummingbirds of Costa Rica are so beautiful and and come in so many different colors and sizes that one could be overwhelmed, You find different species in different areas which makes the photographic journey very exciting. From the highlands to the lowlands all have a special beauty . We will be going again in November which is our usual time so if any one is interested please contact us. It is a little paradise .

Wishing you all a beautiful and blessed Wednesday !!!

The Allman Brothers were a very popular band during the 1970's pioneers in a musical sub genre called "Southern Rock" which is a blending of country and rock elements. It's been so long ago I can't remember the exact year but I do remember it was at the Capital Theater. This was a very blurred scanned film shot that just sat in my computer drives for years but I ran it through Topaz Sharpen AI and then through KREA AI enhancement and then ran the JPEG image through both programs again to give you all this image brought back from the dead to speck and here is a link to YouTube video of one of their concerts from close to the time I saw them. www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Hb9aNgivdg&ab_channel=Allman...

Estátua Mariana Torres.

Mariana Torres, a cannery worker murdered in 1911 during a demonstration in defense of workers' rights.

The statue by Jorge Pé-Curto in Largo da Fonte Nova was unveiled on International Women's Day in 2016.

The sculpture, measuring four meters high and two meters wide, made of white marble, depicts the face of a woman with her eyes blindfolded, a motif that evokes the "Setúbal Executions," an event that occurred on March 13, 1911, on Avenida Luísa Todi, in which Mariana Torres and António Mendes, cannery workers, were killed during a struggle for better working conditions.

We are having continued hot weather, which always knocks me out! Today, it is supposed to get up to 28C (to feel like 30C). My place is feeling like an oven (no air-conditioning) after the last few hot days, and this is expected to continue for a few more days. A Heat Warning is still in effect and there is also a Severe Thunderstorm Watch.

No matter how many times I see one of these owls and no matter how many hundreds/thousands of photos I've taken of them, each owl is as exciting as the very first. I don't remember seeing a Great Gray Owl SW of the city since our May Species Count in 2014.

Before early 2016, the most 'recent' Great Grays that I had seen and photographed was one that was a rare visitor to the city - found in Fish Creek Park for a while and my last photos of it were taken on 18 February 2014. There was also a Great Gray at Griffith Woods, Calgary, and some of my photos were taken on 10 February 2014. Saw another owl on our May Species Count SW of the city on 25 May 2014. Many of my 'best' sightings and photos of Great Grays were taken NW of Calgary, the last dates being 28 March 2013 and 5 May 2013. So, after 25 May 2014 .... nothing until early 2016, NW of the city. Until 8 days ago!!

I decided that for once, I would go out in an evening to look for one of these magnificent birds of prey. Unfortunately, heavy black clouds were already starting to build, with patches of blue sky still showing. Once I hit the main highway, the rain started and continued till I got back home. I was determined to go and check out the various places where I had seen these owls just a few years ago. The two separate owls I found were not far from previous sightings - one along the main road and the other was flying over a distant field. Both were focused on hunting. The first owl flew from post to post, searching for prey. Not a place I particularly wanted to stop, as a number of cars did drive by - had my blinkers turned on. Almost the whole time, I was sitting in my car, with rain pouring in through the open passenger window - but, hey, it's for an OWL! I did get out for maybe three or so minutes, as I know from too much experience that many shots taken from inside my car don't come out. Must have looked rather silly, standing in the rain, to people going by, lol.

Feeling so happy, I decided to drive again along a different area, just to check one last time before going home. That's when I noticed a large bird way off in the distance, flying over a field. I was amazed when it eventually flew to a tree within camera reach and then even more surprised when it flew to a fairly close fence post, which is when I took this shot. Fully zoomed, Focal Length (35mm format) - 1200 mm. The owls looked rather wet and a little wind-blown in most of my photos, but, needless to say, I went home feeling thrilled to bits. I don't remember ever seeing an owl shake the rain off its feathers just like a dog shakes off water.

"Although the Great Gray Owl is the tallest American owl with the largest wingspan, it is just a ball of feathers. It preys on small mammals and has relatively small feet. Both the Great Horned and Snowy owls weigh half again as much, and have larger feet and talons. The oldest recorded Great Gray Owl was at least 18 years, 9 months old and lived in Alberta." “Maybe there's a whole other universe where a square moon rises in the sky, and the stars laugh in cold voices, and some of the triangles have four sides, and some have five, and some have five raised to the fifth power of sides. In this universe there might grow roses which sing. Everything leads to everything.”

Centaurus A, also known as NGC 5128, is a peculiar lenticular galaxy in the constellation Centaurus, which appears to be an elliptical galaxy with a huge superimposed dust lane. It is one of the closest radio galaxies, and its active galactic nucleus has been extensively studied.

Discovery and Identity

NGC 5128 was discovered by James Dunlop on August 4, 1826. John Herschel was next to see it, from South Africa in 1834; he cataloged it as h 3501, which became GC 3525 in his General Catalogue of 1864, and NGC 5128 in J. L. E. Dreyer's New General Catalog. Herschel was first to note this galaxy's peculiarity, in 1847.

Halton Arp included NGC 5128 in his 1966 Atlas of Peculiar Galaxies as one of the best examples of a "disturbed" galaxy with dust absorption.

Amateur Observation

Centaurus A appears approximately 4° north of the naked-eye globular cluster Omega Centauri. At magnitude 7.0, this galaxy is the fifth brightest in the sky, making it ideal for observation, although it is only visible from the southern hemisphere and low northern latitudes. Centaurus A has been spotted with the naked eye by expert observers under very good conditions. The bright central bulge and dark dust lane are visible in finderscopes and large binoculars, and additional structure may be seen in larger telescopes.

NGC 5128 is a "lenticular" galaxy, of intermediate type between elliptical and disk (spiral) galaxies. Its main body has all characteristics of a large elliptical, but a pronounced dust belt is superimposed over the center, forming a disk plane around this galaxy.

The only supernova discovered in Centaurus A so far is SN 1986G, a Type Ia event that reached mag 12.5 in May, 1986.

Properties and Evolution

Centaurus A is located about 11 million light-years away, at the center of one of two subgroups within the Centaurus A/M83 Group. Messier 83 (the Southern Pinwheel Galaxy) is at the center of the other subgroup. These two groups are sometimes identified as one, since the galaxies around Centaurus A and the galaxies around M 83 are physically close to each other, and both subgroups appear to be stationary relative to each other. The Centaurus A/M83 Group is part of the Virgo Supercluster.

NGC 5128's strange morphology is the result of a merger between two smaller galaxies. The bulge of Centaurus A is comprised mainly of evolved red stars. Its dusty disk, however, has been the site of more recent star formation; over 100 star formation regions have been identified in the disk. As observed in other such "starburst" galaxies, a collision is responsible for the intense star formation. Scientists using the Spitzer Space Telescope have confirmed that Centaurus A is an elliptical galaxy going through a collision, devouring a spiral.

In the radio part of the spectrum, Centaurus A exhibits two vast regions of radio emission, running along the polar axis of NGC 5128's disk and extending hundreds of light years in both directions. A relativistic jet from what is believed to be a supermassive black hole at the center of the galaxy is responsible for emissions in the X-ray and radio wavelengths. Radio observations of the jet indicate that the inner parts of the jet are moving at about 1/2 the speed of light. X-rays are produced farther out, as the jet collides with surrounding gases, creating highly energetic particles.

A ballad in which I had my thoughts about my deceased mother written as lyrics. It's a bit sad but I think it turned out beautifully anyway. As always, there may be translation errors, please accept my apologies.

I chose the beautiful place “Oasis” as the filming location again, you will see why.

Now that I'm all on my own

I saw you just the other day

My, how you have grown

Cast my memory back there, Lord

Sometimes I'm overcome thinking 'bout it

Making love in the green grass

Behind the stadium with you

My brown-eyed girl

You, my brown-eyed girl

A short while ago, I had the great pleasure of meeting with Pei for some photos, coffee and lunch. Going in, I was greatly looking forward to the shoot and coming out, I know I was right to be. She's a great person, not just a great model.

Echo did the makeup, which is always a good thing.

Small lizard which I've seen on the island of Rhodes :)

Primeval Nature - thanks for help with it's name :)

Starred agama (Stellagama stellio) is a monotypic genus of agamid lizard, also known as hardun or the roughtail rock agama. Starred agama can be found in Greece, Cyprus, western Asia and northern Egypt. It has also been introduced to Malta. Starred agama may attain a total length (including tail) of 35 cm (14 in) or slightly longer. Like many agamids, starred agama can change its color to express its mood. It basks on stone walls, rocks, and trees. It is usually found in rocky habitats, and is quite shy, being very ready to dive into cracks to hide from potential predators. Starred agamas are omnivorous, they feed on insects, earthworms, bird eggs and chicks, as well as small mice and lizards. They also eat leaves, flowers and buds. During colder months (from October to April) it hibernates.

Malutka jaszczureczka, którą wypatrzyłam na Rodos :)

Hardun (Stellagama stellio) – gatunek jaszczurki z podrodziny Agaminae w rodzinie agamowatych (Agamidae).

Zion National Park is an American national park located in southwestern Utah near the city of Springdale. A prominent feature of the 229-square-mile (590 km2) park is Zion Canyon, which is 15 miles (24 km) long and up to 2,640 ft (800 m) deep. The canyon walls are reddish and tan-colored Navajo Sandstone eroded by the North Fork of the Virgin River. The lowest point in the park is 3,666 ft (1,117 m) at Coalpits Wash and the highest peak is 8,726 ft (2,660 m) at Horse Ranch Mountain. Located at the junction of the Colorado Plateau, Great Basin, and Mojave Desert regions, the park has a unique geography and a variety of life zones that allow for unusual plant and animal diversity. Numerous plant species as well as 289 species of birds, 75 mammals (including 19 species of bat), and 32 reptiles inhabit the park's four life zones: desert, riparian, woodland, and coniferous forest. Zion National Park includes mountains, canyons, buttes, mesas, monoliths, rivers, slot canyons, and natural arches. Human habitation of the area started about 8,000 years ago with small family groups of Native Americans, one of which was the semi-nomadic Basketmaker Anasazi (c. 300). Subsequently, the Virgin Anasazi culture (c. 500) and the Parowan Fremont group developed as the Basketmakers settled in permanent communities. Both groups moved away by 1300 and were replaced by the Parrusits and several other Southern Paiute subtribes. Mormons came into the area in 1858 and settled there in the early 1860s. In 1909, President William Howard Taft named the area Mukuntuweap National Monument in order to protect the canyon. In 1918, the acting director of the newly created National Park Service, Horace Albright, drafted a proposal to enlarge the existing monument and change the park's name to Zion National Monument, Zion being a term used by the Mormons. According to historian Hal Rothman: "The name change played to a prevalent bias of the time. Many believed that Spanish and Indian names would deter visitors who, if they could not pronounce the name of a place, might not bother to visit it. The new name, Zion, had greater appeal to an ethnocentric audience." On November 20, 1919, Congress redesignated the monument as Zion National Park, and the act was signed by President Woodrow Wilson. The Kolob section was proclaimed a separate Zion National Monument in 1937, but was incorporated into the national park in 1956. The geology of the Zion and Kolob canyons area includes nine formations that together represent 150 million years of mostly Mesozoic-aged sedimentation. At various periods in that time warm, shallow seas, streams, ponds and lakes, vast deserts, and dry near-shore environments covered the area. Uplift associated with the creation of the Colorado Plateau lifted the region 10,000 feet (3,000 m) starting 13 million years ago. The park is located in southwestern Utah in Washington, Iron and Kane counties. Geomorphically, it is located on the Markagunt and Kolob plateaus, at the intersection of three North American geographic provinces: the Colorado Plateau, the Great Basin, and the Mojave Desert. The northern part of the park is known as the Kolob Canyons section and is accessible from Interstate 15, exit 40. The 8,726-foot (2,660 m) summit of Horse Ranch Mountain is the highest point in the park; the lowest point is the 3,666-foot (1,117 m) elevation of Coal Pits Wash, creating a relief of about 5,100 feet (1,600 m). Streams in the area take rectangular paths because they follow jointing planes in the rocks. The stream gradient of the Virgin River, whose North Fork flows through Zion Canyon in the park, ranges from 50 to 80 feet per mile (9.5 to 15.2 m/km) (0.9–1.5%)—one of the steepest stream gradients in North America. The road into Zion Canyon is 6 miles (9.7 km) long, ending at the Temple of Sinawava, which is named for the coyote god of the Paiute Indians. The canyon becomes more narrow near the Temple and a hiking trail continues to the mouth of The Narrows, a gorge only 20 feet (6 m) wide and up to 2,000 feet (610 m) tall. The Zion Canyon road is served by a free shuttle bus from early April to late October and by private vehicles the other months of the year. Other roads in Zion are open to private vehicles year-round. The east side of the park is served by Zion-Mount Carmel Highway (SR-9), which passes through the Zion–Mount Carmel Tunnel and ends at Mount Carmel. On the east side of the park, notable park features include Checkerboard Mesa and the East Temple. The Kolob Terrace area, northwest of Zion Canyon, features a slot canyon called The Subway, and a panoramic view of the entire area from Lava Point. The Kolob Canyons section, further to the northwest near Cedar City, features one of the world's longest natural arches, Kolob Arch. Other notable geographic features of the park include the Virgin River Narrows, Emerald Pools, Angels Landing, The Great White Throne, and Court of the Patriarchs. Spring weather is unpredictable, with stormy, wet days being common, mixed with occasional warm, sunny weather. Precipitation is normally heaviest in March. Spring wildflowers bloom from April through June, peaking in May. Fall days are usually clear and mild; nights are often cool. Summer days are hot (95 to 110 °F; 35 to 43 °C), but overnight lows are usually comfortable (65 to 70 °F; 18 to 21 °C). Afternoon thunderstorms are common from mid-July through mid-September. Storms may produce waterfalls as well as flash floods. Autumn tree-color displays begin in September in the high country; in Zion Canyon, autumn colors usually peak in late October. Winter in Zion Canyon is fairly mild. Winter storms bring rain or light snow to Zion Canyon and heavier snow to the higher elevations. Clear days may become quite warm, reaching 60 °F (16 °C); nights are often 20 to 40 °F (−7 to 4 °C). Winter storms can last several days and make roads icy. Zion roads are plowed, except the Kolob Terrace Road which is closed when covered with snow. Winter driving conditions last from November through March.

Afon Seiont Esturay which runs into the Menai Strait, in Caernarfon, Gwynedd, North Wales.

Its source is the outflow of Llyn Padarn near Llanberis, and it flows out in a generally northwest direction. Between the outflow and the village of Llanrug it is known as the Afon Rhythallt, changing its name just after the village. Its mouth is in the town of Caernarfon, forming a natural harbour as it flows out into the Menai Strait.

The Afon Nant Peris provides the main inflow into Llyn Peris which then drains into Llyn Padarn with the addition of the waters of the Afon Arddu which drains the northern slopes of Snowdon.

The name of the Roman fort of Segontium, near Caernarfon, is based on the Latinised form of the name 'Seiont'.

Norwich Cathedral has this impressive cloister which leads to a Labyrinth in the middle. I find that the Labyrinth is a very interesting piece of architecture as it is not like a maze but it is designed to help you find your way and charm the mind so you do not have to think about where to go next as with a maze you have to think as it is designed as a game to make you lost.

This is where you enter the Cathedral from. The stone work of the building is very interesting indeed and the HDR treatment has given it a really textured look. I also like how the HDR has made the ends of the passage ways dark as it makes it look very mysterious and interesting.

“Charlestown grew out of the small fishing village of West Polmear, which consisted of a few cottages and three cellars, in which the catch of pilchards were processed. The population amounted to nine fishermen and their families in 1790. Before the harbour was built, trading vessels landed and loaded on the beach. Charles Rashleigh, who moved to Duporth Manor, just outside the village, used plans prepared by John Smeaton to begin the construction of a harbour and dock in 1791. After building the outer pier, he excavated a natural inlet to form the main dock and a shipyard at its inner end that was demolished when the dock was extended. The first dock gates were completed in 1799. To maintain water levels in the dock, a leat was constructed, which brought water from the Luxulyan Valley, some 6.4 km away.”

“It’s hard not to stand in awe and enchantment with the beauty in which nature expresses herself.” Steve Maraboli.

More than two years since we moved to Ireland, and we have finally been lucky enough to see the Cliffs of Moher, those colossi that seem to challenge the Atlantic Ocean with their greatness. No image or video that we have seen can be compared to the feeling of smallness experienced when these stone giants are seen in person. In Ireland there are many beautiful cliffs along its coasts, but the spectacular nature of Moher is unique.

Although we could have visited them before, I wanted to wait for the right moment. I wanted to see them for the first time at sunset, on a weekday, in the low season, and staying a couple of nights in the nearby town of Doolin so that we could return the next day and walk for hours on the trails that run along its edges, in addition to having more opportunities to photograph them from different parts.

I owe this image with the sun and the most recognizable view of the cliffs to my wife, since I had chosen a more elevated and frontal view of the cliffs at first for the sunset. Thanks to her I changed my mind, and running together we arrived just in time to capture one of the most beautiful memories we will have of Ireland.

These two which chose to couple down on the ground at the Haga Ocean Butterfly House in Solna, Sweden are a pair of great yellow mormons (Papilio lowii), also known as the Asian swallowtail. It is the male in the background and the female in the foreground.

This was taken before I began shooting butterflies using a tripod and wired shutter so I had to settle for a quite large aperture and a shorter shutter time to get enough light down there on the ground so the depth of field could have been greater, but it still turned out reasonably good.

Another beautiful hibiscus, which I've seen on Tenerife. This time in the park in Garachico :)

Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, known colloquially as Chinese hibiscus, China rose, Hawaiian hibiscus is a species of tropical hibiscus, a flowering plant in the Hibisceae tribe of the family Malvaceae, native to East Asia. It is widely grown as an ornamental plant throughout the tropics and subtropics. As it does not tolerate temperatures below 10 °C (50 °F), in temperate regions it is best grown under glass. The flowers of Hibiscus rosa-sinensis are edible and are used in salads in the Pacific Islands. In several countries the flowers are dried to use in a beverage, usually tea.

Kolejny piękny hibiskus jaki widziałam na Teneryfie, tym razem w kolorze żółtym. Pstrykany w parku w Garachico :)

Ketmia róża chińska (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis), zwana także hibiskusem – gatunek rośliny z rodziny ślazowatych (Malvaceae). Popularna roślina ozdobna. Prawdopodobnie pochodzi z Azji, obecnie jednak nigdzie nie rośnie dziko, występuje wyłącznie w uprawie. Do Europy ketmia została sprowadzona w 1731 roku.

Being stuck at home has its advantages for me. I can concentrate on doing more artistic editing on my photos, which I really love.

It's also a time when a lot of people are looking at how life is at the moment, and reflecting on the past, when life was decidedly free by comparison to the restrictions of today that have been imposed upon most of the world.

Doing self portraits is almost a rare thing for me nowadays compared to the past. I seldom have been able to have other people pose for me, and when they do, they are often restrained and nervous, and getting a truly expressive shot can be a challenge for portrait work. At least I know what I want, and pose accordingly.

Since portraiture is my first love, I had overwhelmed Flickr with selfies in the past. Now, I usually only post so that a few people here and there can see me. Some contacts who aren't really into this kind of photo, have even dropped me as a contact, which rather hurt, since I don't post these because I'm self-absorbed, but because I like the kind of work I'm doing. I have even asked my contacts in the past to send me photos to work on if they wanted something done, but only a couple have. Lately, I've been feeling stunted, because I can't do the kind of photography I love, so I've taken to colorizing old movie stills, which I also enjoy doing, but those don't seem to be anything my contacts really like much, either.

I've come to the conclusion that I don't care. I've commented on people's stuff, even when they were just learning and their work was pretty bad. I've tried to find something redeeming in even the most mundane posts, and I've valued people over photos. I've expected the same back, but often didn't get it. So, guess what? I've decided to do as I please! If I post 100 selfies, or 1000 animal shots, or 500 colorized movie pics, I will enjoy it, and if no one else does, they don't have to look!

Life's too short, you know. Now, maybe more than ever. It isn't worth worrying about. I know who my friends really are. :-)

All that said, the real reflecting I was doing with this pic was how much I've personally changed in the last couple of years. I don't look like this anymore. My hair is short and grey, and I hate it. I have more wrinkles, and I'm thinner. Life has been a little harder, and I miss things being more the way I was used to them being, but like everyone else, I'm learning to cope with what I have to, and finding something to keep myself going.

Tomorrow I have a team of people coming to my home to start my kitchen tear down. I'm praying there isn't more than 10 square feet of mold behind those cabinets, so that I won't have a mold remediation, and lose what's left of my savings. Right now, I need every penny until the world gets back to normal and I get back to work, knowing that I WILL be back at work! I'm also praying that none of these people, coming from one of the hot zones of Florida, will have the Coronavirus. They will be taking precautions, but no one knows if they have it until the symptoms appear, and that could be days. I'm trusting that all will go well, and no one will be sick.

Life sure has gotten strange all of a sudden! Reflecting on past things can be comforting, but it can also be depressing. I guess this is the new normal. In any case, I might not be on as much for the next couple of days, as my kitchen will be torn apart and my computer is usually set up there! I'll let you know how it goes as soon as I can! Everyone stay safe and take care!

I want to thank each and everyone who took the time to visit my little space here on Flickr and perhaps gave a like or a comment on my image. With the holidays fast approaching I may not have time to acknowledge your comments but rest assured they are read and appreciated. I will hopefully get back to seeing all your images sooner than later.

Smallest of all the anteaters, the Northern Silky Anteater (Cyclopes dorsalis) is seldom seen because it spends much of its life high in the rainforest canopy, often curled up as an indistinguishable ball of fluff. They have no teeth and can only defend themselves by means of their razor sharp sickle-like fore-claws, which are usually used for tearing open ant nests. Females bear a single youngster at a time, which is carried on their back until large enough to feed on its own. Esmeraldas, Ecuador.
