"Motion" is sometimes difficult to capture. A fast shutter speed is normally desired for air shows to capture all of the action, but a slow shutter speed is required to show the motion of a spinning rotor or propellor.

We've completed all of our "baby classes" so now we're all ready! No worries, we have all the answers.

Weekly Theme: Portrait, but not a self portrait

Week 32

Taken August 9, 2014

Title: Photographer, Musician, Donna

Notes: This weekend we went exploring a new place, at least for us, the Tyler Arboretum in Media, PA. It is associated with one of our more regular destinations, the Morris Arboretum. In any case, it was a beautiful day and we got some nice photos of butterflies and even some shots of a relatively rare (for us) Hickory Horned Devil (I'll post a shot to my stream soon). However, nothing that I would consider for a portrait, at least until we took a rest near the end of our explorations and I got this shot of Donna, our good friend and fellow photographer (and excellent classical musician too). Hopefully she'll like this shot as much as I do ;-). Sunny smile for a sunny day!

August 11, 2008. 224/366. It seems sometimes like the more colorful the ingredients, the better the meal. These farmers' market red onions are so bright!

This is for the "52 of 2013" group In Motion theme.

The perils of leaving this until the last day!

So many of you have submitted clever photos with motion blur, prolonged exposure, cute kids, animals, athletes and even dancing in the street, I had to try to think of something counter-intuitive.

This guy really was moving , just not very fast.

I haven't made a Tequila Sunrise for ages for several reasons. Firstly because tequila is evil and gives me a Hangover from Hell (when drunk irresponsibly); Secondly because we've now learned to make margaritas which we prefer; But thirdly and most significantly we never seem to have any orange juice in the house.

This is a problem because we've had a nearly empty bottle of Grenadine in the cupboard dating back to 1996. So I thought I'd make an effort to use some more of it.

However the effort petered out later on this week because we ran out of OJ again.

I lit it from behind with a torch to make it look more interesting. I was pleased with the result in many ways. I made it properly with the split colour, the photo came out as I planned, and it tasted nice.
