Week 14 - Change

In spite of the enduring sunshine and lovely warmth, it's now autumn with all its attendant changes taking place in nature.

One of the most prominent indicators in the woods is the Arum Maculatum - otherwise known in its autumnal berry state as Cuckoo Pint, or Lords and Ladies and probably a host of other local names depending where you live.

Although the berries are very toxic, I'm told the root is rather delicious when cooked!

Week 10 of a 52 week challenge

hi guys :)

i'm so sorry that i didn't upload for so long. i think i never had a 52-weeks pictures right after the other.. hm. i don't like that at all :/ but i really had no time to take pictures this week.

on monday i was too tired to take pictures because i didn't sleep a lot at the weekend.

yesterday i had to look after a little girl right after school and today i should actually learn english because tomorrow we'll write a test and i'm not prepared at all. so, big sorry that i'm in a hurry.

i don't like this a lot but it took me about 20 minutes to take it and building this white wall took me half of it. haha

This is the second week of photos. Very small difference. We had an ultrasound earlier this week and the baby was very active and moving around while we watched.

This may be my favorite week's worth of photos yet. I know I went a a little overboard, but there were just so many amazing moments. For me, this week was really reassuring -- I can have a life outside the house and still receive all this love and joy when I get home. Doug & Teo are getting on so well together -- they have their own rhythm and rituals. But Matteo still wants and needs his mama, too. Proud of the secure attachment and deep bond we've created between the three of us... I can tell it is already producing a confident, curious, and resilient kid.

In terms of milestones... This week was all about self-possession. Now that Matteo can crawl like a pro, he is able to act on his interests and go after them. This requires even more vigilance from his exhausted parents (yup, he still sucks at sleeping) -- but it is thrilling to watch.

We closed out the week with a trip to the Washington County Fair, where Matteo finally got up close and personal with his most beloved farm animals -- chickens. He was awe struck as the hens clucked and roosters cock-a-doodled all around us! Teo went on his very first pony ride, which was funfor the first two trips around the ring, but apparently boring thereafter.

The most magical moment at the fair was when Matteo met his first cow. The owner was kind enough to take the beautiful beefalo Heifer out of her pen so that Matteo could pet her and get some bovine kisses. The cow couldn't get enough of Matteo's gentle petting -- a skill he is slowly learning thanks to Caya's incredible patience with him. Teo and I both made a pretty soulful connection with that cow -- and we hope there are more like her in our pastoral future..,

Matteo has discovered three things that make him extremely happy: "outside," the front window & the dog. Having ways to immediately cheer this kid is essential because he is now prone to very dramatic fits of sadness and screeching with no warning. Little body + big feelings - ability to speak = massive frustration for the little guy. That said, he really is still happy-go-lucky much of the time. But take away a not-so-safe object that he's decided makes a good toy, attempt to redirect him in his exploration, or suggest that its time to change a diaper and everything goes to pieces. It's an interesting phase... and even though the outbursts do wear on us, I am really glad that he is expressing himself and exploring a range of emotions.

And thank goodness for those favorite things, all of which are pictured here. Whenever Teo is fussy, his daddy scoops him up and takes his out our front door where there are lots of things to ooh and aah at, like the open field across the way, the gorgeous sunsets that grace us in that direction, the mailboxes, the sign for the building manager's apartment -- and if we are really lucky, the building manager and his family. (They live next door to us and have two awesome little girls -- Teo loves playing with them!)

Caya has also proven to be a big help in making the baby find happiness. She trots over and kisses him in the face throughout the day, tells us when he's starting to fuss and about to wake from a nap, and occasionally shares her toys! And in exchange, all she asks is to gnaw in some of Teo's nicer wooden toys. (Not so happy about this arrangement...)

Finally, the window: our bed (more accurately a mattress on the floor) is right under the very low front window. Perfectly positioned for Teo to pull up on and gaze out. This has become his favorite morning activity. He also adores watching the rain from there. Caya does to.

Monday 7th March – Sunday 13th March 2011

This was a very busy week spent on fieldtrips and labs.

We spent a lovely afternoon taking photographs in Ashton Court, experimenting with the film cameras. That was topped off by an evening of pancakes. Instead of Pancake Day it seems to have become a pancake week, as the next day we had a pancake party at a friend’s house.

Then lots of dancing, sailing and work!

I am grateful for the beauty every season brings. As the last of the summer flowers bloom & the first of the fall leaves are beginning to fall, I am grateful for each precious memory from each season as it comes and goes :)

EP Project Week 35/52 ~ "Fruit"

So I was testing a prop in front of this backdrop and decided to do the weeks theme. So how do a camera and an apple tie in together to this weeks theme you ask? Nothing, nada, zilch! Just thought the apple looked lonely so I added the camera. LOL

Hope everyone is enjoying your LONG Labor Day weekend.

Hugs to all

Week 3 of 52 week challenge. Lit with 3 lights (Camera Left 1/32 Softbox, Right 1/64 Softbox, Back Right 1/64 Stripbox), All flashes where Bowens Gemini 400R. Triggered Wirelessly via radio trigger and slave modes.

This week's theme was "motion" and I couldn't believe how difficult it was to take this photo. I had spent all week thinking about different possibilities and none of those photos turned out how I had wanted them to. It wasn't until today that I came up with this...I was sitting in my friend's garage helping her make a table when it had started raining outside. Initially I tried capturing the raindrops hitting the ground, but it was just not working out. Just when I was about to give up entirely I stuck my hand out to catch some of the water falling off of the garage. I thought, "Hmm, that's pretty cool looking." So my friend, Magan stuck her hand under the water for me and I snapped this photo. I'm sure it is a cliche photo of movement, but I am happy with it. :)
