After all the worry over Dirk’s DNA – as it applies to Dirlene – I decided to seek the advice of Ula, the Maury Povich of Sierra Leone. Ula does not use blood tests to find the results but the Flowery Fish Wheel. In a very long drawn out complicated process - which I will simplify here by saying “she spun the wheel” – I came home with some surprising results. As I opened the envelope my insides turned to fluid with anticipation. . . .it seems Dirk is NOT the father of Dirlene! (In fact it seems he was rendered sterile by electric watermelon and other exotic fruits). I have some homework to do as there seems to be two possibilities to the paternity – Evis & The Milkman!

Not sure if it is really a 'triangle' if one of the angles is rounded, but it gives the illusion of triangles at the very least. The triangle seems to be a strong structural element, as it is everywhere in architecture, bridges, cranes... even shopping carts!
I had several other ideas for shots which did not get executed due to time/weather/etc. Hope to try them out as the year goes on...
I feel quite bad lately. I got a cold and this grey weather outside isn't really helpful to step out of this depressing mood. I need sunshine!

Week 16/52 of my 52 Week Project
My Boss has been gone on vacation for the past week and gets back tomorrow. Since he has been gone I have been doing his job plus my own. I am looking forward to his return!

A fashion show is basically an event put by the fashion designer to showcase how to carry clothes. The most influential fashion weeks are Paris Fashion Week and New York Fashion Week.
The branch hooks need to be re-hung with larger nails, but they're ok for now. I also need to move them up a little bit and space them slighty further apart.

Astronauts from five space agencies around the world take part in ESA’s CAVES training course– Cooperative Adventure for Valuing and Exercising human behaviour and performance Skills.
The six cavenauts of this edition of CAVES are ESA astronaut Alexander Gerst, NASA astronauts Joe Acaba and Jeanette Epps, Roscosmos’ cosmonaut Nikolai Chub, Canadian Space Agency astronaut Josh Kutryk and JAXA’s space agency Takuya Onishi.
The three-week course prepares astronauts to work safely and effectively in multicultural teams in an environment where safety is critical.
As they explore caves they encounter caverns, underground lakes and strange microscopic life. They test new technology and conduct science – just as if they were living on the International Space Station.
The six astronauts have to rely on their own skills, teamwork and ground control to achieve their mission goals – the course is designed to foster effective communication, decision-making, problem-solving, leadership and team dynamics.

I thought: What better place to find something appropriate for Opulent than the #1 super zip in the country? (See this article on super zips: online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052970204301404577....) So I drove around Kenilworth, Illinois to see what house qualified. I think I've driven around these streets too much by now to have a good grasp of the average American home given how long it took me to decide that what was in front of me was indeed opulent. It would have been easier in daylight. I'm not super happy with this selection, but having watched it built from ground up over the past couple of years, I decided it qualified. Since it doesn't have columns and such, the opulence may not be obvious, but it's huge. (It has a completely separate three-car garage to the left.)
slept, went to school, took a math test (aced it :D ), got back a history test (aced), and my principal came into second period to congratulate/thank me for participating in a reflections program, where i won an award of excellence for this photo: www.flickr.com/photos/maridock/5029048718/in/set-72157626... :)more in comments
Was going through a drawer looking for something else and came across this. I believe this may have been my first "smart phone" after my flip phone. When daughter was younger, she used to go around with our old phones pretending to talk on them.
Week 13: 26 Mar - 1 April
First pair of Converse All Star shoes I've owned. It's been really great having flat shoes that I can wear almost everywhere. Especially with ankle healing but still tender and my habit of wearing jeans most days of the week.
Cheeky feet-on-seat shot while on the train going home from one event or another. The laces are too long for my liking so I wrap them around my ankles before tying
Week 10/52
Theme: Stack It
2013 Ellenburg Project 52
I had a newborn scheduled for Thursday and I had lots of ideas about things I could stack with the baby. Baby on a stack of books, towels, suitcases, etc... Unfortunately, school was cancelled and therefore my shoot was also cancelled. So I guess I'll have to settle for a stack of suitcases without a baby. (Just a side note, I would never stack a baby this high, my plan was to just use the two big blue suitcases.) Thanks to my mom for giving my all her old suitcases, I love them. My husband on the other hand is less than thrilled with them, hehehe.
Didn't follow this week's theme unfortunately. But check out Mike Trout sliding into home plate at the Angels vs. Tigers game on Sunday. Angels won 4-3 :)
Shirt from Washington DC with a cute dart in it at the midline, so I can wear it postpartum to nurse because the buttons open beyond the boobs. Heh heh.

In war people die on all sides. Quite often they are young people.
Close to where I live is the German War Cemetery in Glencree. Dedicated on July 9 1961, the graveyard is located close to the Glencree Centre for Reconciliation and Peace. 134 persons are buried here including Luftwaffe & Kriegsmarine. Many are known, some are unknown. These were in 59 Graves across 15 counties of Ireland until being moved to Glencree. Most of the graves belong to flyers of the second world war and were washed up on our shores. Included also are the victims of the Arandora Star, German civilian detainees sunk by U-Boat in 1940 off Tory Island.
I first visited this cemetery less than a week ago. It is a place of great beauty and tranquility. I visited again today to take this photograph. The location has beautiful shades of green and brown but the greyscale image somehow seems very appropriate.
In war people die on all sides. It is good that we remember them.
Week #31 - Wildlife - Call of the loon. Knowing I was going north on the week-end, I hoped that the wildlife just north of Bancroft, Ontario would be obliging for the theme this week. This loon was particularly helpful as he took interest in me as I paddled by in the canoe.
There's so much joy in life,
so many pleasures all around
But the pleasure of insomnia
is one I've never found
With all life has to offer,
there's so much to be enjoyed
But the pleasures of insomnia
are ones I can't avoid

I bought myself V For Vendetta for surviving a 40 hour work week on almost no sleep at all. I thought it was a pretty fair trade. Also this isn't a great photo of it, but LOOK PURPLE HAIR!
