I unfortunately got sick and was in quarantine for a while.
I'm good now but am playing catch up with all the things I had to put on pause while I got better.

Week 6/52
I'm back at it. I'd write more about this image, but I have a whole blog post pertaining to this and life in general over here. This is actually last week's image, keep on the lookout for this week's super simple one.

Week 42/52
The Fall and the Winter are never easy on me. They're the time when everything always seems to go wrong, when I go down the drain, when I slide into bed and don't have the will to come out until it's warm outside, again. That's a little of what this shot is about.
The dark seasons, as I call them, are isolating. The rain keeps you inside, the cold makes you get into a thousand pieces of clothing and you feel stuffed, constrained. There's none of that freedom from the Summer. There's no hope, no reason to wait for anything. For me, it's excruciating.
I'm trying to turn it around, though. I'm trying to enjoy the Fall, I'm getting excited about my trip to England in December, I'm actually enjoying making pies and jams and sweets. I'm trying to fight it. But at the same time, I feel like I have to fight off my demons — and this is how I do it. It's just so I don't wake up in the middle of the night, my chest clad in that anxiety that makes me want to scream; it's just so I don't let the darkness get the best of me and run away with my thoughts and my smile; it's just so I don't succumb to the coldness outside. Because that's all I ask for the months to come: that they allow me to keep my head above the surface.

hi there. i finally developed a roll of film :)
how's the pandemic treating you? i've been growing out my natural hair since the beginning. 9 months later, this virus is worse than when it started and i'm almost a brand new person. ;)
i have been very safe and remained healthy. i was tested last week after not feeling well for a few days, but it was only a cold. i was negative. however, i have spoken with many people who have not been so lucky.
be well. stay home. take care of yourself.
we will survive.
“...they come to us, these restless dead,
Shrouds woven from the words of men,
With trumpets sounding overhead
(The walls of hope have grown so thin
And all our vaunted innocence
Has withered in this endless frost)
That promise little recompense
For all we risk, for all we've lost...” ~ Mira Grant
So I'd taken this already but forgotton and have been getting behind in my shot a week!
A take on a common shot but wanting to use some natural light from the patio doors to cast a smooth diffuse shadow to one side too. Hope you like.
Shot on a Panasonic G3 converted for infrared photography, processed in Lightroom and Silver Efex.

Merci
A feather from my collection. Not my best effort, but it was a busy week. Will try harder this week.
Please pardon this. I have finals that week, and was studying for ten hours a day. It was horrible. But they're done now!
edit
Oh my god, this almost has 50 favorites, thank you so much! It's kinda growing on me, it makes me feel calm looking at it :3
Struggling with this weeks theme as the weather here in the UK has warmed up suprisingly , however after my wild camp in the Lakes I woke up to find no frost on my tent but the fields in the valley bottom were white with frost.

For the Nighttime Long Exposure theme at 52 weeks in 2018.
Well, it rained most of the week and all of the weekend so my plans for an outdoor shot didn't work. Hope this is acceptable.

Me at (almost) 36 weeks pregnant. I think you can see why my back has been killing me! Still have about 4 weeks to go...
it's day five already!
thank you for all the fantastic amounts of inspiration this week, polaroid people! :)
(if for some reason you haven't been introduced to the amazingness that is 'roid week.. here ya go.)
Refraction is such a cool theme and it brings back memories of this group. My first ever Explore was from a refraction theme for this group in 2013 and it’s still my profile pic.
Second Life: 52 Week Challenge 2025 Not the most exciting picture but joy for me is home, living in the northern part of the Appalachian mountains in the states the mountain and forests makes me happiest.

:)
On a trip out today with the wife and happened upon this old abandoned barn on the side of the road near Daventry, Northamptonshire and just had to take a look. I took a few shots but this is one of the favourites and meets week 17's theme in my photo a week challenge.
I love the geometry of the beams and rafters which practically scream triangles, rectangles and probably even parallelograms everywhere. Certainly a testament to the workmanship given this roof is still standing when some of the brick walls have holes you could walk through! And no, I don't mean doors LOL

On Saturday, I did my first Moth Week event of the year. Three more to go. This time I was invited to setup for a city park for their first ever moth night. The next two are state parks. Then my friend's garden. I am not a moth expert (I like talking about spiders more), but I know enough and it is fun to share what I do know with people.
We had over 40 moth species at the park. I am sure there were many more, but it is hard to photograph everything while educating visitors about them. But that means less effort posting them all to iNaturalist. I would know hardly anything about moths if not for iNaturalist.
This Rindgea moth is very common here but can't be identified to species. I don't often get a chance to do an artistic moth shot. Moth sheets aren't very aesthetic. This one landed on some leaves just as I turned off my lights.
I am a bit late with this one. Hand held, and practicing panos. I stitched 3 photos in the online I.C.E program. I have a new computer so it has been a test of my brain power to work out how to do everything again as things have changed a great deal in 8 years since I bought my last computer! Taken on our drive to visit a friend recently. I did not quite have the photo flow in line, so the stitching program has cut off more of the pano I would have liked, however, what a great reminder this challenge has been to practice it more often. It is odd how the program also puts in random bits, like a shadow, so you have to be vigilant in scanning the finished photo and adjust accordingly.

A play of water droplets proved to be more frustrating than normal but there were a few where the timing of the flash and droplet worked nicely.
What I do every single day of the week, is go for a walk. Walking is healthy, we sit around too much so I walk and I love it.
Early mornings are the best !
