Super late on the upload - this was actually 5 weeks ago. Unfortunately, 3rd Trimester sleepiness has kicked in and I've been doing little more than sleeping and eating!

More green from me! This time, a green smoothie. We drink a lot of green juices or green smoothies in our house. Amazing the difference it makes in how I feel!

05/52: Rain

April 29 - May 05

It's been raining for quite a while, and yes I am getting tired of it. Especially when I have been on holidays!! I have four days off and it started on the 3rd of May and yes it has been raining everyday so far.

At least not cold like before.

I was going to upload a photo I took yesterday.

I took some photos when I went to Sapporo station by sub way and took some shots on the way.

I was quite happy with the photos I took, however I didn't see them on the big screen.

When I was about to choose and upload a picture, I couldn't choose any of the shots.

The time was around 22:30 on Sunday which is the last day I had to take a photo for this project.

I checked outside, it wasn't raining, so I quickly got my stuff ready and went to outside to shoot something, however by the time I was ready, it was raining again.

I didn't have lots of time, so I grabbed my umbrella and went outside.

I wanted to shoot some macro shots show Spring and rain and I chose this shot.

Well I need to get out there more.....

I hope you had a great week!

Tao Li Jing @ 34 weeks pregnant

It was the 2nd time I visited this location. The first time I tried to visit it some weeks ago. After a long walk through the forest I entered the domain and immediately I saw a man walking there. He looked like a gardener or caretaker. He did not notice me but came walking my way. I freezed, and in seconds was overthinking my next move: Wait and hide or run back through the dense forest. In milliseconds I chose the seconds option and run through the forest. The man must have been thinking there was a pack of deer wandering the surrounding forest.

This second time I planned a day of exploring with a team mate who more or less found this castle himself. He already visited it three times, but I had to go there another time to get my pictures. So, my friend visited Château Henri for the 4th time

When we walked around the castle I noticed people inside. A lady with a big smile waved at us and we could enter the castle. We shook hands and found out that I know the guy who was there with his girlfriend. They come from Germany and we have had contact through Flickr and FB. It was very nice meeting each other and again this shows what a small world UE is.

We did our thing, and after some time we were done and left the castle. As we had lovely weather we all walked towards one of the pools to take some outside shots before we leave. Suddenly we heard the sound of a motorscooter and within no time there were two guys on a motorscooter in front of the castle. Damn, were fooked!! We slowly walked our way to the entrance, but 20 meters before we were there the motorscooter showed up and we were stopped. After some smarttalk the guys were more at ease. It was the gardener and one of his friends. The gardener looked after the castle for 22 years already. It was a very friendly guy, but still he called the police.

After waiting for 30 minutes I started to friendly annoy this gardener by asking him every 5 minutes where the police are. And everytime he excused himself and every time he called the police again where they were. I need to continue this, as the police will be fed up with the man at one time In the meantime we changed memorycards and decided what our story would be.

After 45 minutes the police arrived. My plan was to lie flat on our bellies and start photographing small flowers as soon as we saw the police. Unfortunately we didn’t After some ID checks our bags were opened (but not searched) and the gardener excused himself as he needed to do some groceries. Pretty awkward, but ok. And again, we were excused by the man that it took so long before the police came, and I started to feel sorry for the guy. But the best part is yet to come….

The police asked us where our cars are parked. Our German friends were parked two streets to the right, and we were parked two streets to the left. The officer decided to join the Germans and walked to their car for a small car search. We were asked to walk to our car and wait there until they come to us. I cannot believe this happened. If I had some contraband in the car I had plenty of time to hide it before our car was searched. I could have buried all AK-47′s which were hidden in my trunk before the police popped up. Unbelievable country this is…. We drank a cup of coffee together and headed towards the next location…

This castle was built in the 1930′s by the owner of a nearby textile company. It was in his posession till the 1990′s when the castle and it’s domain was sold to a wealthy couple. They completely redecorated the place for which they spent a little fortune. The long driveway was asphalted and the place was furnished with the most expensive furniture which fitted the design of the castle. After some time the couple got arrested for some reason and the castle was sold to a bank who wants to gain some of their money back which they lost to the couple. Unfortunately it is for sale already for some years, and with it’s price being around the € 3 million I guess it will be for sale for some time. Luckily the place is well maintained by the gardener, and really hope he will still have it’s job once the castle is sold…

week thirty-seven of 52 (April 2-8, 2018)

Just me at home with a Little Prince, (and a fox and a rose, if you know the story) preparing to give a reading at my brother's wedding

34 weeks! 5 weeks and change until our estimated due date! As Rob pointed out, we can count the weeks on one hand. Wowza.

This past Saturday we had our childbirth class.

We sounded like total hippies in the class. We were the only ones to openly talk about pursuing a natural, drug-free birth, and Rob even mentioned placenta encapsulation when the instructor asked us what happens to the placenta after delivery. The class was definitely education, especially when it came to the different stages of labor and coping techniques for the pain. It was great to actually try out all of the positions so we could get a feel for what may work best for us when the big day arrives. Also, Rob had to give me a back rub for a half hour. WIN!

The videos they showed were not exactly unbiased. They definitely suited our natural birth desires. But I wondered about the other people attending, especially the ones who want epidurals at the door. The course material was very blunt about the downsides of various medical interventions. I just wonder if the other students were expecting that sort of information. Another thing I learned is that I will be "taught" how to push at the hospital. I didn't think about it before, but these are muscles we never have to actively command, so of course there's going to be a learning curve. I also learned that pushing can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours for the average range for first time moms. Two hours sounds EXHAUSTING.

We also learned more about what to pack for the hospital. I still think it's early, but Rob started pestering me to pack my bag a couple of weeks ago. But then he refused to pack his bag. So I packed it for him. And tagged a list describing what is packed already and what needs to be packed at the last minute. I am phenomenally organized, go me!

The only other development this week is that we're further along in talks with the doula. We need to schedule our prenatal meeting, and then next time we'll see her at the hospital.

Butternut is still super active, despite his increasingly cramped quarters. He still makes the full belly earthquakes, which I just can't help watching. That's when I realize that he is huge, and he is going to have to come out. Eeek!

But at the same time, just about everyone and their mothers seems to think I don't look 34 weeks along. Everyone asks me when I am due, and when I tell them, they say, "You look so small!" or "You're carrying it so well!" or some variation. I guess the alternative would be for them to ask me if I am having twins.

I have so much to be grateful for! I am grateful for these little wrestler’s. I am grateful that they are healthy and happy. I am grateful that we are able to provide a warm home that is filled with love and food. I am grateful that we are surrounded by a community of family and friends who offer unconditional love and support. I am grateful to have found this wonderful and talented group and project that have allowed me to grow my photography hobby and give me the opportunity to take photo’s of my family that I will be able to forever look back on and be reminded of all of the things I have to be grateful for.

On mature 'reflection' !!! I decided I preferred this image to the one I originally posted, so apologies for adding confusion! . Several months ago I bought a small ornamental crystal ball for a couple of euro. It has remained sitting in its box on a shelf until this week, when I thought I might use it for our 'GLASS' theme. A cold miserable start to the day thankfully gave way to some blue skies in the afternoon, so a trip to the local beach was called for. I put the crystal ball on my tripod, and then as the image reflected is inverted, I later inverted the photograph.

Most of the time, I find it pretty easy to come up with an idea for my weekly picture. That doesn’t mean, that these ideas appear out of nowhere. Usually, I have a rough idea, which is not ready to be played out at first. But I’ve got this thing which I call my “creativity list” where I write down everything which I think could turn into a nice picture. And then sometimes, a sudden flash of inspiration occurs and the picture takes shape. That is the time, when I start seriously think about the implementation of the picture, like how should the general look of the picture be like, what lighting do I want to use, what colors do I want to use and so on. Of course, when it comes to editing, some of these ideas will be discarded or changed. But nonetheless, I find it very helpful to have a rough idea what I want to do, before I start shooting. This week was a week without even a trace of creativity. Even though my motivation was peaking, I just could not come up with any idea. So I just decided pretty shortterm to head out with my buddy Felix who is an awesome biker, to make some nice bike pictures. Just as we arrived on location, it began to rain. Not the perfect conditions for bike pics, but it takes more than a little rain to stop us.

Not much longer now...

I just got back from my week away in Kuala Lumpur so I have a lot to upload. This one has been up on my website for a week but I forgot to upload it before I left.

This guy was hard to keep up with when I was trying to take this shot. I also had to get quite close since I was using a 35mm so I wonder if he knew how close I was behind him…

Woefully overdue for a belly shot. Totally missed the 35-week mark. Technically, I'm 36 weeks and 4 days pregnant here.

Dylian is not impressed! This week has just been yucky!

Our warm wet weather has the clover in our backyard growing like crazy. It just seems wrong to mow in February (or maybe I'm just lazy!) so it grows on.
