This week has been crazy busy, but it's opening night for my the musical I am in at our school. :)
It’s Week 6 of 52 and I’ve already had it with self-portraits. Some days it feels like an exceedingly narcissistic and frivolous endeavor, other times like a challenge and learning process. How many ways can you photograph someone until it gets boring?
I for one get very tired of looking at myself . It’s not a question of low self esteem (or even too high self esteem) – I look like myself, if that makes any sense (don’t we all go through a phase in life when we don’t recognize the person in the mirror?). I guess I just need to find time to photograph other people, explore other personalities and life experiences. Alas, there are only so many hours in a day.
I went to the Christmas market in Essen with Tim's mother and her partner. We visited the Primark and I bought way too much stuff. It was so much fun! :) Look at all those Christmas lights, it was SO pretty!
John Bulette and Gillian Weeks came to YMCA Silver Beach to celebrate their wedding weekend with us! For many guests, this was their first experience on the beautiful Eastern Shore. The weekend was great, the food was delicious and the memories will last forever.
I am considering this one for Week 4 theme for delicate. Not sure if I like the composition but I do like how the petals look like the red is paint brushed.

Since last Polaroid Week I got a new position at my work which doesn't give me as much desk time therefore less time to get up take a walk the the sole purpose of taking photos. So with this past week being rather busy and/or poor weather and the fact I didn't realize it was Polaroid week until Wednesday...I managed to get some instant shooting in on the Friday! And having ten sheets of Type 72 (the unopened box of Type 55 is being used this summer) I went out and got five shots, not bad for ten year expired instant film, but one fogged on the one side I learned, you have to make sure your 545 back is nice and snug when shooting it with an Intrepid camera.

I swear that in the last week or so, Olive turned two. All of the sudden she's climbing the tallest slide at the playground and going down it all on her own. She didn't cry at drop off either day this week. She hugged Ryan's leg, said goodbye and was off. That was huge!
Her school brought in Children's Theatre of Charlotte to perform Balloonacy this week. Since she wasn't going to be in school the day it was performed, the three of us took off early from gymnastics to see it. She sat in my lap, still as a church mouse during the entire 40 minute performance. Occasionally, she would point or turn back to me to make a comment about what she was seeing but other than that, she didn't stir. I was amazed and so proud of her behavior. It was fun to see her understand and follow along with the play. I know Ryan got excited for all the plays and movies in their future.
Our friends Greg and Katya sent a sweet care package to her this week and to my surprise, she spent as much time carefully unwrapping everything as she did playing with the goodies inside. She hasn't seen a wrapped present since her birthday and it was fun to see her totally get the concept. Made me really excited for the holidays!
I keep telling Ryan that "what's this" must be the 20 month version of a 3-year-old's "why." It's all we hear, all day long. Sometimes she genuinely doesn't know what something is but sometimes it feels like she's quizzing us. "What's this?" she'll ask as she musses her hair. "Your hair," we'll tell her and she'll nod at us with a slight smile.
The biggest way I know she's truly growing up is that we can now successfully rationalize with her. She's still rear facing in her car seat and lately it's become a big battle. She doesn't want to be in her car seat and she wants to see what's in front of her. She wants to see us and she wants to be able to communicate with us more easily while in the car. It's frustrating for all of us but it's especially frustrating while in a parking lot with a toddler that is too old and too strong to simply bend into place.
Lately I've talked her through why she needs to get into her car seat. We'll discuss how we're hungry and what we want to eat. I'll explain that we can't get to an activity or see our friends until we get in the car. Maybe it shouldn't but it amazes me to see her think through her options, visualize something that isn't in front of her or immediate and still make a rational decision. We've been able to successfully have this conversation even when I've allowed her to get completely worked up.

had a little scare at work when a lady told me a guy was filling up his bag at the front of the shop, i caught him stealing a bag full of packs of kit kats, i grabbed the bag off him and told him to leave, we then took all the kit kats out of the bag and at the bottom of the bag was a smaller bag filled with drugs and syringes, and his coat. it was then i realised 'oh my god ive just stolen his drugs'!! eekk!! i started panicking thinking he was gonna come back after me.... we had so many shoplifters in that day, luckily we were all on the ball and caught them at it :o)

Monday 10th December- Monday 17th December
The week that time stood still...
After having arrived home last Sunday, the week just past was pretty boring if I'm honest. I loved being home, I enjoyed the change and everything but in comparison to having all the uni work I felt like I had nothing to do. Don't get me wrong, I need the break, I worked to the point of being ill, but the week was just a tad empty. The weekend was lovely though. Lots of riding, exercise on a bike, seeing my boyfriend, hot baths and even more birthday presents! (I swear I'll be 22 by the time these celebrations are over!) The idea was great though, 21 presents around the house, one for each year. So much fun!
This image was taken on one of the long days in the middle of the week where I had lots of time to kill. I'm pretty happy with it!
Christmas next week everyone! Wooo!!!

Theme Of The Week - Technology
I think we are exchanging personal interaction for convenience and speed. I think it is becoming a problem in society. No one makes eye contact anymore; people are always texting.

I got my typewriter at a yard sale for $1. It weighs a good 70 pounds. I'm going to have some interesting shaped bruises on my thighs.
This is my milking parlour,I put through 110 cows in one hour this afternoon, milking 24 at one time. I took this with my new fish eye lens, looks rather more interesting than the same shot taken at 15mm. See Nancy being miked in the comment box below, she calved 3 weeks ago and is giving 50 litres a day!
17/52 - 52 Weeks of Jedi
I had promised Jedi a soft serve ice-cream from McDonalds if he ever got his title in CCD Obedience.
Today, I had to pay up! He scored his 3rd and final pass with 92/100 and placed 3rd! What a good boy!
He sure enjoyed that ice cream... Little does he know, it was a one off!
26 weeks! i'm looking more and more pregnant all the time.
top is from goodwill. cords are old navy maternity. best shoes ever from salvation army.
The maternity selection at Goodwill is pretty sparse and mostly crappy, but I figure even if I find a few gems it's worth it to stop in weekly. I have been having a big hang up lately about getting dressed. Even though I'm pregnant I still want to look like myself, you know? So this top was a great find. totally Katie. nice fall colors, too.
This weeks theme quite literally went 'up in smoke'. It certainly was no 'piece of cake' and I would have had better results had I chosen cake. As it is, here is my submission as I'm 'pressed for time'. :)
An exciting, vibrant and fun packed week including Circus Skills, Japanese Drumming and African Dance. In the evening there were Inter-House competitions. 5th-9th February 2018.

The set that I took with Gemma looked so natural, that I couldn't resist including a couple of alternatives.
In this, she has a SB600 bare, gelled orange behind her firing on 1/4 power and triggered by Pocket Wizard Plus IIs. She has an SB800 in a soft box camera left firing on 1/2 power and slaved. There was also a silver reflector at my 6o'clock to reflect some of the natural light from the sun.
We did really well with this combination until the wind picked up and I almost lost my soft box and my reflector. I had really wanted to use my big umbrella for this shoot but the wind didn't allow it.
