High upon the branches,
us tree folk like to go.
And just what we are saying,
only tree folk really know.
My friends and I know not why,
you all settle on the ground.
When you could live near heaven,
where the songs of birds resound.

Up in the hills are a couple of these tiny house labels tacked onto a stump. I am just going back over my October photos for other photos of interest

Found this beastie in the utility room last night. Focus is ever so slightly off, which is annoying.

Can you see her? Tee tiniest little butterflies here are Hairstreaks. I think this is a Cassius Blue. On the native Coffee bush. Can't wait for Wayne to see this. Yeah! Yeah for me! These little buggers are hard to see and shoot. Thanks, Wayne.
I think this is a tiny marbled orb weaver - about 4mm long, but brightly colored. It's on the ledge of my house in the evening sun. Those little orange spots are bits of lichen.
Winnie is my cousin's Maltipoo, and weighs less than ten pounds, but has a big heart. That's Lake Winnipesaukee behind her.
This little girl must have been all of one and a half to two years old. She had two speeds - all out fast and stop. Barefoot the whole weekend.
A trip up to Glenariff Country Park in the heart of The Antrim Glens, to photograph the waterfalls and the Autumn colours. It all proved a worth while journey.
The Scotch Whisky Experience is a five star visitor attraction at the top of Edinburgh's Royal Mile, where they have been inspiring visitors to Edinburgh about the joys of Scotch whisky for over 30 years. Covering all aspects of Scotch whisky, visitors gain an insight into the centuries-old science of production, the art and craft of blending, and how such a small country has created a world-famous product. A breathtaking view of Scotland’s five whisky regions brings the geography and landscapes to life.
A Moment In Time
One from last weekend near Gretna, a gorgeous wee woodland scene. In this one using the strong sunlight coming towards me like a paintbrush highlighting the areas of the view.

The poor thing must have been hit with the cold temps overnight but luckily it's wee legs were moving a bit when I took this.
Sigma 105mm f2.8 macro lens that no longer autofocuses. Set to f7.1 ISO 100 on a Canon 7D.
I may not always get to thank you for every fave or reply to a comment that you might leave here on my image but, just know each comment is read and very much appreciated.
This little boy is about two weeks old. He and his mum are in a field at the bottom of my track with dad, a huge bull, and a few other family members...
I waited for about twenty minutes while he finished suckling - such a patient mother - before he turned around and began rubbing his face against his mum’s. It was very sweet to witness this interaction.

Yesterday I completed No. 13 in my Etudes series. I still need to clean it up & take some better pics.... when it stops raining. For now, a couple wee details for your viewing pleasure.
The wee cottage of Lagangarbh (In English - Lagangarve) at the foot of the mountain Buachaille Etive Mor (The Great Shepherd of the Glens) in Glencoe, Scotland. Take from the top of the Coire na Tulaich ravine, with the Mamore mountains as the backdrop.
The track on the left is the Devil's Staircase. It was initially given its name by soldiers of General Wade, who built the track about 1725 to gain access to the Highlands, to control rebel Highlanders. The name was perpetuated when some of the workers building the Blackwater Dam (in shot) chose to travel to the nearest pub, up and over the mountains, after their wages had been paid out. The journey to the Kingshouse Hotel proved to be more difficult than many realised. The journey back was even worse as unsteady legs meant that many were unable to manage the return trip and, on a freezing winter’s night, the devil often ”claimed his own“, lost in the snows.
anyone any ideas what this is - it's about 6mm long so fairly little. I never noticed the colour of the eyeballs until I looked through the viewfinder...
I wondered if 'twas perchance a froot flea?
Thanks to the dipterists' forum peeps - this is Peplomyza sp. I think the only species in the UK is litura and if confirmed that makes this only the second record from Scotland (NBN)
Will is basking in the late afternoon sun, seemingly not bothered by the heat. He enjoyed the attention from visitors at Wright-Locke Farm's Family Farm Night today.
or in American, small stuff.
a plastic soldier/action figure found in the dirt while digging around in my garden,

**there is still a war going on in Ukraine. do what you can to help.
the same with the fires in Maui and the hurricanes on the US southeastern coast. I know many of us are overburdened with trying to help....do your best.

We had a "wee 'lil storm" in West Michigan today ... and being the crazy fool that I am, I headed out to the lake shore to capture it. I returned very happy, though a little wet (more importantly ... my camera also took a drink, but I think it survived the experience).
Many pictures to follow ... I'll present them in approximate chronological order.
This is about 1:00 pm this afternoon ... steady 30mph winds ... gusting up near 50 ... coming in from the WNW.
Highest form of flattery right here! As photographed at the Totally Radish opening. Many, many thanks to Sasha and Anthony for being nice folks and sharing, and, of course, to Sasha for the Wee Ninja love!
