~This picture is part of a series of wedding pictures that I, luckily, found at the local flea market.

Wedding couple at night near Tsaritsino palace

One flash with umbrella left from camera triggered by PocketWizards. And some post processing turning day at night :)

Sonia y Raúl, esta ha sido mi primera boda oficial y la verdad es que estoy bastante satisfecho con el resultado ^____^

Wedding portrait of Saara and Olli near the local beach.

Our tuk-tuk took us all the way down to Belem where we joined a long queue to get into the fabulous Jeronimos monastery. We had only allocated a short time for the visit and I was despairing at how slowly the queue was moving and how far we were from the entrance when I spotted two or three people being allowed in a side door. Pulling my wife behind me we scuttled for the side door where two staff seemed to be only letting 'approved' visitors through. Putting on a look that I thought showed I was one of the ones who should be let in, I just stepped past the monastery staff without being intercepted and we were into this enormous, gorgeous church with organ music swelling as bride and groom walked to the altar. We stood with just four or five others, the only witnesses allowed in to watch from the end of the church. It was a beautiful sight.

Distraction among the pews while waiting for the bride to arrive (this picture I saw before Shell did - for a change). There were also more cerebral sights, of course.

Need to get the hair right next time.

Well, not really - Becca and Jeff were married at one of the municipal offices in Annandale, Virginia - as we stepped outside to go to lunch, couldn't resist a little posing with their "limo" for the afternoon!

My friend relaxes during her wedding reception - with cigarette and wine ...

I like the view of smoke...

Here’s the bride in her homecoming dress. After the wedding, the couple go off on their honeymoon, often only a day or two. After that they have a homecoming party where the bride wears a traditional red sari signifying her “entrance into womanhood” and everyone comes to celebrate this.

I don’t know about you guys but there wasn’t any party and I sure didn’t tell my parents about my first nocturnal adventure ; ) I think it’s a lovely tradition that can be hard to understand for us since it’s so different from what we’re used to .

I was invited to another wedding here in Sri Lanka this weekend. It was actually one of the guys who work at the photo development store where I get my photos developed. He liked the shots I’d taken so much that he asked if I wanted to come and photograph his wedding.

It was the first wedding that I followed from beginning to end and it was an experience. They do put a lot of effort into it and on the big day, Saturday, we were going from 8am till midnight. The couple must have been up even earlier the first day to get ready and I’m sure they stayed up longer than the rest of us. Then on monday they were at it again with a full day of photographing, filming and party at night for homecoming.

The topper was made by Rouvelee, she did such a fantastic job. Thanks rouv your a star! xx

This was for an outdoor wedding in the woods, so the design fit perfectly. The cake is iced in buttercream, the ferns are piped on in buttercream, the leaves and mushrooms are fondant, the fiddlehead ferns and the small purple flowers were provided by the bride.

This is part of my crazy weekend - on Saturday I had this cake, the swirly wedding cake, the small wedding cake and the purple flowers wedding cake. I also deliver them all by myself, and this one was an hour and a half from the bakery. It was a long day!
