Here is tiny spider on native Canyon Lupine aka Broadleaf Lupine (Lupinus latifolius, Fabaceae) in the woods today. I believe the frizzy webbing is the work of a cribellate species of Mesh Web Weaver in the family Dictynidae, maybe genus Dictyna itself. I already have my two photos for the Web Wednesday group - but Happy Web Webnesday anyway! (San Marcos Pass, 13 April 2022)

The strap is two inch webbing with a D ring sown on one end and a loop sown in the other. There are two triangular cutouts in female main waist buckle of the bag. It is pretty easy to thread a heavy duty split ring through the top cutout for attaching the strap to the bag. The strap is looped through the top handle on the bag, the end with the sown loop threaded through the D ring, and then the split ring threaded on the sown loop. Add a shoulder strap pad and it is very comfortable. The pad is a $15 black Timbuk2 bought at REI.

The split ring has been replaced with a tie wrap.

As both straps are attached to almost the same points, the bag retains the same functionality. The second strap evens the weight across the shoulder, but doesn't provide any more stability.

Putting on the bag is pretty much the same as before, the main strap is placed over the head and across the right shoulder. The bag is then rotated a bit around the front, enough to where the second strap can be easily grabbed and the left arm looped through. The second strap is used to swing the bag to the back while it is placed on the left shoulder.

For flipping the bag around to the front, grab the second strap at the main waist buckle and pull the bag around to the front. This can move the second strap off the left shoulder at the same time, but it isn't needed to secure the bag. Moving the left arm back a little helps keep the left strap on the left shoulder.

Saw this beautiful spider web in my campus this morning while I was conducting a site round &inspection at Pune Infosys Campus.

This is spider webbing on native Sawtooth Goldenbush (Hazardia squarrosa, Asteraceae) in the woods a few days ago. I believe this is the work of a Mesh Web Weaver spider in the family Dictynidae. I suspect that this is another example of cribillate webbing, it has a frizzy texture like the webbing in this photo and this photo. Happy Web Webnesday! (San Marcos Pass, 15 August 2022)

This is somebody's nest under a fallen leaf of native Coast Live Oak (Quercus agrifolia, Fagaceae) in the woods a couple of days ago. I'm not sure who's nest it is, but I would guess it's the work of a caterpillar rather than a spider. The nest is actually hollow with an opening on the left where something presumably got out rather than in. I believe the material is real webbing and not some kind of cotton wool, so Happy Web Webnesday! (San Marcos Pass, 14 December 2020)

Here is a small invader exploring a caterpillar's nest on a dead leaf of Coast Live Oak (Quercus agrifolia, Fagaceae) that's stuck up in the tree in the woods today. I believe the invader is the larva of a Syrphid Fly (Syrphidae, Diptera) - possibly the larva of the species Syrphus opinator which I've been showing lately, e.g. in this photo. The caterpillar makes a nest in the oak leaves with webbing and skeletonizes the leaves, look above the larva and to the right. But why would a fly larva be interested in a caterpillar, aphids are more to their liking. Maybe the caterpillar has already abandoned the nest and something else has moved in? I don't know the answer. (San Marcos Pass, 27 February 2021)

The lashing mount is highly versatile. Webbing loops extend off each corner, to facilitate lashing with a length of spectra rope (high strength/ UV resistant). The loops are tubular 3/4" webbing, capable of withstanding 300+ lbs of load, the base platform is constructed of 6 ply 9 oz dacron sail cloth. The baseplate is anchored to the platform with heavy hand sewing.

Here is webbing and a neat "web bridge" between leaves of Coast Live Oak (Quercus agrifolia, Fagaceae) in the woods a few days ago. I believe is the webbing of a web-spinning caterpillar, and there is frass (poop) in the left edge of the photo. Happy Web Webnesday! (San Marcos Pass, 30 April 2023)

Here is a spider webbing strung between native Chamise (Adenostoma fasciculatum, Rosaceae). I believe this is the work of a Mesh Web Weaver spider in the family Dictynidae. The webbing joins the leaves like rigging on a dusty ship model. Happy Web Webnesday! (San Marcos Pass, 29 October 2021)

Someone threw a brick through my windshield Friday night. According to the police, I was one of a lucky few that had the same vandalism that night.

It's like winning the lottery! But lame!

Yes, I photograph nigh everything in my life.
