A new bridge is being built across the River Wear and today was a milestone in the project as the road deck was pushed out across temporary supports.

A central 'A' frame is due to arrive in the new year, to which the bridge deck will be suspended.

This picture show the structure being inched out via hydraulic rams. A little way downstream, Queen Alexandra Bridge, which currently struggles to cope with the volume of traffic at peak times.

Looking upstream on the River Wear as the sun is about to disappear behind an approaching weather front.

An old walking stick with years of wear and tear and adventure.

Its the time of year to update my wardrobe and a friend found this lovely Ted Baker skirt for me. Its very frothy and swishy and heavenly to wear. Video to come.....

On Tuesday evening I was at The Boar's Head in Sunderland's High Street East along with other colleagues from the local NUJ Chapel.

We were holding one of our monthly meetings, the first time at this venue. I recall a few weeks back how we thought it would be a great choice as there is an outdoor area at the rear, overlooking the Wear and a fabulous place to watch the sun set.

So, to those colleagues who travelled from far and wide and for whom the visual experience fell far short of expectations (it was cloudy), I'm posting this photograph, taken 24 hours later the following evening.

This is what might have been!

Leyland National 2 no. UPT663V is seen as Wear Buses fleet no. 4663 at Durham, around 1997.

It is working service 53 to Langley Park, which was formerly a Gypsy Queen route.

Muted pastel tones as the evening dusk descends on the River Wear.

A Macro Mondays submission on the topic "wear and tear". This spoon has seen better days.

Looking across the River Wear to an old boat house and some other whitewashed buildings below Southstreet Banks.

Taken while having a slow walk around the loop of the Wear that almost makes the hill, upon which the city's cathedral stands, an island. It was a gorgeous, warm sunny day on the very last weekend of Summer.

Happy weekend Wicked Fam!

Tyne and Wear Metrocars 4035 and 4077 approach Benton station, working what is believed to be 09.43 South Shields - Tynemouth. Planned engineering work lasting a fortnight meant there were no services between Tynemouth and St. James.

This was taken from the furthest down the platform accessible to the public, a barrier having been erected since I first photographed here nearly forty years ago! The other change is the lifting of the small engineers' yard, which was located on the left just beyond the end of the platform.

A dull grey day with heavy rain forecast helped to make up my mind not to venture out too far. This view on the River Wear has the boat in the foreground that I photographed recently in the fog.

I'm off to Magic Theatre on Saturday, but I can't decide what to wear. Which do you think looks best?

The River Wear (/ˈwɪər/, WEER) in North East England rises in the Pennines and flows eastwards, mostly through County Durham to the North Sea in the City of Sunderland. At 60 mi (97 km) long, it is one of the region's longest rivers, wends in a steep valley through the cathedral city of Durham and gives its name to Weardale in its upper reach and Wearside by its mouth..

Every day I have to get up early, wear the dress he chooses, have perfect makeup, cook his breakfast before he goes to work, do the shopping and house-cleaning in the dress he has chosen, cook his tea when he comes home and then perform approximately in the bedroom.

In return he gives me a little money for clothes and cosmetics.

I didn’t think this one through 😉❤️

No other word for it. Yes, yet another LBD I pulled out of my closet the other day, looked at it, and thought "I gotta wear this!".

And it won't be the last, I'm sorry.

Also, as always, way more photos over on Insta:

I'm thinking I'll be called in to the managers Office for causing a distraction!!!!

What do you think?

Whenever you're away from home, for the safety of yourself and others, wear a mask. Taken at Seattle's Pike Place market.

It's vital to wear a mask in these times. I surely do!
