First Milky Way shot of 2023 and totally out of practice. Not well planned out but it is a start. About froze my fingers off.

In Appalachia, people sometimes use "way in yonder" to describe something off in the distance. The phrase is also an invitation to search for something, whether it be on the other side of the woods, over the mountain or across the river. Many a young person has heeded the call of "way in yonder".

I suspect you are all gonna get a little bored of this scene over the next 12 months or so . This was looking t'other way. You do get a better snse of the blowing snow for some reason.

I have tried to clone out the gate but it looks a right dogs dinner. Maybe next time I should just open it!

Esta foto (lo mismo que la anterior) está hecha en Aragón, en algún punto entre Teruel y Zaragoza. Cuando sales de una isla y recorres las tierras de la península, todo te resulta nuevo y sorprendente.

With Elephant Seals (Mirounga angustirostris) there will only be enough milk for her 1 pup. The other 6 abandoned or strayed away ones will probably not make it; San Simeon; CA; USA

I had expected a fine morning but didn't expect the mist. Otherwise I would have got out of the house even faster. But this was the almost weird sight as I headed over from Biddulph Moor towards Rudyard. Strangely beautiful.

I was in two minds to crop the foreground out. What do you think?

This picture was taken in Hamilton on my hunt for the Albion Falls. I did find it by the way.

Xiaoling Mausoleum of Ming Dynasty is one of the biggest imperial tombs in China. It lies in the eastern suburbs of Nanjing City at the foot of Purple Mountain. The 1800m long Sacred Way runs east-west along the site. It is lined with several pairs of stone sculptured animals guarding the tomb.

Each animal conveys an auspicious meaning. The lions, king of the animals, show the stateliness of the emperors, the camels, symbol of desert and tropical areas, indicate the vast territory of the dynasty and the elephants imply that the policies of the dynasty are to meet the desire of the grass root and the stabilization of the dynasty.

I probably won't get a chance to see the comet that's passing by now but it got me thinking about the stars and then I found this image from last summer.
