I looked for days for this guy and he was right under my nose practically. I have a dresser upstairs that is devoted to smaller props. BUT, it is not my only spot. I am not that organized.
Happy Macro Monday
The Pennine Way is a National Trail in England, with a small section in Scotland. The trail runs 267 miles (429 km) from Edale, in the northern Derbyshire Peak District, north through the Yorkshire Dales and the Northumberland National Park and ends at Kirk Yetholm, just inside the Scottish border. Photo is taken from above Twaite in Swaledale.
Link to photograph appearing on BBC website celebrating 50 years since establishing the Penine Way.
The soft light on the high ridge is from a car's headlights that must have been coming in late along the entrance road into the Badlands. They started hitting the ridge about halfway into this exposure I was taking of the Milky Way. An interesting add to the scene. A magical place and time to be taking in that night sky.

The Wolds Way is a long distance footpath across the beautiful Yorkshire Wolds countryside. It is 79 miles long ending at Filey on the North Yorkshire coast. At Filey Brigg, the footpath meets The Cleveland Way, another wonderful long distance walk. Fantastic walking country.
We shot The Toadstools , near Kanab, Utah in the daytime, then returned to shoot it when the Milky Way was visible. I realized that I needed a warmer jacket and while exciting, it was painfully cold. Interestingly, Venus rose while we watched the Milky Way cross the sky and created an eerie optical illusion. Had not it been pictured on our cameras in one place, our eyes saw it jumping around the sky like no earthly vessel would have been able to accomplish. It had light stars, like sun stars, but more delicate and wavy. Quite eerie and wonderful. Here's a composite made up of a stacked exposure combined with a long exposure of the foreground (thanks to Cindy for teaching me this technique) and an exposure of the sky, showing Venus to above the horizon. I'm researching warm coats and welcome any suggestions. I have an arctic weight coat, but it is too large and bulky to travel with to all but he most extreme environments. Any recommendations?
