A few more bird images today, nine in fact from various locations around Strumble Hd in north Pembrokeshire. Starting with this wave dodging Gannet and his diving cousins and then some of the smaller birds seen around the coastal fringe.

I want to make this my cover photo so I have to upload it. It's from wikimedia commons, I didn't take the photo.
just when I think that I can't possibly take any more shots from the same spot... I realise that sometimes there's nowhere I'd rather be. Wind , sun and spray... love it
I'm not sure yet what these particular cloud formations are called but one can get very dizzy watching them move in waves....this was taken 12 hours before that squall line passed through.
It's been a mixed bag of weather for me in my 5 weeks here. Today gales, lashing rain but it all made for fantastic waves hitting Portreath harbour wall! Pretty spectacular! I've loved every minute of being back in Cornwall with my babies but now I'm all packed and will be leaving for Heathrow in a few hours to start my 22 hour journey back to Albuquerque, NM.
Wednesday afternoon I visited the area beyond South Pier and found these Wave Riders. They were enjoying Lake Michigan in its rocking mode.

Welly debut at Cocklawburn this morning - I can see that the combo of the 10-20 and wellies could easily become a dangerous one! Thanks to Jonathan for the msg "the sky is shaping up" which threw me out of bed and into jeans, jacket n wellies!
Here's my workflow for this image, using Apple Aperture:
-- I pulled the Vibrancy down to -1,
-- the Yellow to -1,
-- the Red's Vibrancy to +1 to whiten the clouds
-- the RAW Sharpen to +.84
-- the RAW Detail to +.81
-- in Levels I increased the Blacks to +.06
-- in Levels I increased the Whites to +.94
-- in Sharpen I increased the Radius to +2.0
-- in Sharpen I used the Brush to increase the gull's visibility
-- in Quick Brushes I used the Dodge tool to increase the
whites of the wave crests...
It is desaturated quite a lot, giving somewhat of a black and white look...
Enjoy!
