On loan from the north east to assist with subsidiary Yorkshire Tiger's vehicle shortage is Dart/ALX200 W461XKX. It appears to be wearing the coveted steering wheel 'cover of death'. I hope it isn't.

It's always great when photo opportunities turn up during the working day. Waterloo Carnival was cute, and the weather was remarkable.
I was at Cahirmee Horse Fair which occurs annually in Buttevant (Cork) today for a few hours.
Cahirmee Horse Fair is one of the oldest fairs in Ireland, and is reputed to date back to the time of Brian Boru. The Duke of Wellington bought his horse, Copenhagen, which he rode at the Battle of Waterloo, at the fair. Napoleon also bought a horse at Cahirmee.
The Fair came to Buttevant from Cahirmee Fair Field in 1921 and has been held in Buttevant since. Visitors to the fair can see the buying and selling of horses on the streets, while a horse show will also be held with a number of prizes available, including the best horse of the fair.

The train ran from Crewe and worked around the commuter branches of west & south west London covering the lines to Paddington, Windsor & Eton Riverside, Chessington South, Waterloo, Hampton Court, Shepperton and many places in between
We were going to have 90 minutes here, have a bite to eat and maybe a beer. But in the end, we decided to catch the next train back to Dover, thus only having 45 minutes to rush round, get shots and a snack to eat on the train: Cornish pasties.
Our train arrived, but then I was seduced by the train on platform 20, so I goes to snap it.

Scanned print from some time in the 1980s: Moving on to Waterloo, makes me aware that I really didn’t take overmuch interest in the current railway scene at that time: I took no pictures at Waterloo East, Cannon Street (hardly surprising: as dull as dull can be) nor remarkably at Holborn Viaduct or Blackfriars despite commuting into Holborn for 4 years at the start of the 80s. On that basis I’m not sure what prompted me to take these two snaps of class 33s: Class 33-050 and a Gatwick Express liveried Class 73 during engineering work.

Class 71's were not as regular at Waterloo as the less successful 74's, which were 71's rebuilt as Electro-diesels. E5001 was preserved by the NRM and used to work occasional special trains, but sadly this hasn't happened for some years now.
