When I stood by the waterfall my entire back got wet from the spray. As it was such a hot day, people were lying next the waterfall just for the spray.

This waterfall had so much force that the silt from the bottom of the lake churned like a pot of coffee brewing.

It was over 90 degrees at Mendenhall Glacier the day I took this. So unusual for Alaska to be this hot. However, the sunny hot weather did not stop people from swimming in Mendenhall Lake! There were a few areas like jetties that were a little more shallow and with the heat made the water warm enough to swim in.

To the left of this great waterfall was the actual glacier. To get to the sandy area by the waterfall there was a small stepping stone bridge. The walk back to the main center was about 1 mile.

Earlier this month I visited the Oregon coast, including multiple falls. It was great to get out and do some waterfalling! Happy Waterfall Wednesday!

You know, every once in a while, you realize you haven't posted in quite some time. Today is such a day. Flickr-train.... all aboard.

Here's a not so new but recently processed image from Mossbrae Falls in Northern California. The Hawaii of California if you want. At least this 150ft. stretch of moss-covered waterfall goodness.

Have a great Waterfall Wednesday y'all!

Hood River - Columbia Gorge, Oregon

I loved the moody low hanging fog at Multnomah late Monday afternoon. It appears as if the falls are cascading out of thin air and adds a ton of monochromatic drama to an already postcard ready real life Rivendell. Hashtag alliteration. Who cares if it's overshot and crowded, it's beautiful and a must visit for all my out of town friends. And the peppermint hot chocolate from the lodge is on point.

Happy Waterfall Wednesday

I've finally made it up to the mountains to shoot some waterfalls. A big thanks to +John Harrison, +Edward Nunez & +Timothy Joyce for calling me up and inviting me to tag along.

Saturday evening we hit up Burney Falls and we got some nice light. I was hoping for a little more color in the thin clouds overhead, but I just got a subtle pink/orange hue.

Thought this Wednesday I'd share this waterfall capture of Doane's Falls in Royalston, Massachusetts.

It was a beautiful fall day in October 2019. It's only a short hike from the road to the falls. It's a beautiful spot, and although summer is my favorite time of the year, the autumn landscape here in New England is pretty dreamy.

I took this picture with my GoPro. This is probably one of my favourite waterfalls I have ever seen in person.

Here is another look at the falls I visited on Sunday afternoon from a higher point of view.

It's Waterfall Wednesday! So here's a cropped shot of a little waterfall along the cold, turquoise-tinted water of Baring Creek in Glacier National Park, Montana. No, it's not Baring Falls. That's further down the trail and for some reason I cannot remember, I did not hike that trail. I might have been worried about bears, since I think there was some sort of warning at the time and I didn't have bear spray with me. The next time I visit Glacier, I'll have to hike down to the official Baring Falls (I have bear spray now and I'm running out of waterfall pics).

Do you see the snake on the log?

While Burney falls is simply amazing to see in person, it is also unbelievably hard to capture that size and power in a single photograph. This shot has been sitting on my hard drives for over a year, I've tried a couple times to edit it but... man, its a challenge when you start to factor in the tree branches, mist and water movement.

Anyways, I felt like this had a pretty good feel to it with the crepuscular light rays and if for nothing else... #WaterfallWednesday, is that still and thing??

It's Waterfall Wednesday! So here's a photo I took during my recent trip to Olympic National Park. It's Marymere Falls, an easy .7-mile (one-way) hike on a well-trafficked trail behind the Storm King Ranger Station just a hop and a skip from Lake Crescent Lodge.

I talk about photographing Marymere Falls as well as Sol Duc Falls in my next installment of the Armchair Photography Guide for Olympic National Park, to be published Oct 1st in the National Parks Traveler site (www.nationalparkstraveler.org), so be on the lookout for Part 2 - The Forests. I mention this now because I'll be in Yellowstone National Park at that time and don't know what kind of internet service I'll have around there.

In the meantime, this shot, taken at the upper level of the overlook, demonstrates the "silky water" technique and making use of the surrounding ferns for natural framing around the photo subject.

How about a little #waterfallwednesday ?

One of the most popular due to it’s easy access, and most beautiful waterfalls in Iceland, Skogafoss is a difficult location to photograph among the throngs of tourists. I walked up a little closer than most, set up my tripod and 10 stop neutral density filter, and took a series of long exposures while continually wiping the spray off my camera. Can you see the ghost people you see at the base of the falls?

Recently, I'm into obscure waterfalls. About an hour and 40 mins drive from PDX without traffic and an off trail 20 mins steep downhill descend brings you to this hidden Spirit Falls gem along the White Salmon River. Love the turquoise blue water and the lush greenery in Spring! If you are lucky, you might see daredevil kayakers tumbling down the falls! Took twice the time to ascend the slope on the way out but was a good workout. Happy Wednesday!

A treacherous drive to this park and then a short hike... but worth it. The two falls were so loud and such a pretty colour. I never tire of waterfalls. #waterfalls #waterfallwednesdays #iknowitisntwednesday #beautifulbritishcolumbia #bc #canada # beauty #natureporn #nature #potd #nikon #landscapeporn #neverstopexploring #alwaysadventure #hiking #provincialparks

Happy waterfall Wednesday! Heres a look at one of the twin falls of Upper McCord creek, a fun little falls above Elowah in the Columbia River Gorge.

I recently came across this image of North Fork Falls which I'd never uploaded. I kind of like this wider view. Seen along the Coal Creek Trail. Happy Waterfall Wednesday!

Visiting, the Salt del Moli waterfall for evening golden lights while part of the waterfall is frozen, an amazing Catalunya experience :-)

This was once my go-to spot in northern RI to catch the sunset over the falls. This picture was taken in 2019 but if you were to visit this spot today, the falls are only a mere trickle of water due to the drought conditions we've been experiencing over the past year or 2.

I went this evening to try out my new wide angled lense. Much needed here to get the reservoir and the setting sun, as well as the falls.

It’s #WaterfallWednesday and now that I’ve been home and was able to access @lightroom to fully stitch together shots of #jacksonfalls, I’m excited to show off how cool and secluded and hidden this fall is. Tucked away in a small gorge off the Natchez Trace Parkway, Jackson Falls is a branch of the Duck River and is a sculpted cascade down a 900 foot steep path that descends from the parkway into the gorge itself. While the main part of the falls is at the end of the trail, a whole sheet of water precedes them and cascades down to form the base of the fall which is seen here. With the rocks and trees of the gorge stretching above, the whole environment feels like a walled garden with a spectacular fountain at its center.
