Not quite a 3 mile walk from the parking lot was this little gem. When I go back, I think a sunrise will light this baby up magnificently.

Tiny Waterfall at Swine Creek Reservation

Here's another shot from our trip to West Virginia last fall.

We got off the airplane and drove roughly 3 hours to get to Canaan Valley to photograph this majestic waterfall.

After getting approximately 3 hours of sleep, we woke up before sunrise and made our way to the state park.

Attempting to find a shot without having ever been to a location, in the dark is no small feat, but we were able to find two great locations to photograph the falls. (I'll post the other one a different week.)

This was the second composition that we found down on the viewing platform.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...the fall colors of West Virginia did not disappoint!

I was able to get this shot at sunrise on our first morning of our trip to West Virginia last fall. This was from a neat, suspended viewing platform tucked into the woods.

I'm very happy we made the decision to stop here as it was one of the highlights of out trip. I had a horizontal version as well, but I really like how the waterfall is framed in this vertical shot.

A post that I took last fall of Minnehaha Falls in Rabun County, GA with my contacts little m:), BamaWester, and Anne Strickland after meeting up and shooting with mcmillend and wizum as well.

for Waterfall Wednesday!!

Happy Waterfall Wednesday.

I decided to take a different approach to the day by posting a photo of a photographer taking a photo of a waterfall.

This is Purple Dude at Yocum Falls. I loaned him my chest waders for this shoot. He put them on and it was evident that he is a size or two larger than I am because he looked like Elvis Presley in tight leather pants... well, from the neck down anyways.

Cheers Purple Dude.

#WaterfallWednesday

I'm less than thrilled with this shot (it's too messy--too twiggy, sticky, redwood shtuff-y), but I haven't posted anything in a few days, and the peer pressure (OH GOD THE PEER PRESSURE!) of waterfall Wednesday finally got to me.

We were back up the coast this weekend, and stopped by McWay, hoping for some of that magical golden foggy light like I showed y'all recently from there. No magical, mystical light, but the water's always pretty!

Okay, I decided to jump in, sort of, for this "waterfall Wednesday" thing. There's kind of a dearth of waterfalls here in SoCal, so it's slim pickin's in my photos until I make a trip farther north. This is close, though--it's McWay Creek, which turns into McWay Falls up in Big Sur. This is a couple hundred yards upstream from the fall, where the creek makes its way through a redwood grove. If you've stopped to shoot the waterfall but never explored the rest of the park, I encourage you to do so--it's beautiful and soothing and a pretty special place.

This was a waterfall we enjoyed off of the Angels Rest trail in the Columbia River Gorge yesterday.

Horsetail Falls is being watched. Happy Waterfall Wednesday!

Danny wasn't feeling so hot the other day so here's a Waterfall for him for Waterfall Wednesday

don't worry Bokeh shot coming up later ;)

© http:www.oregonstateparks.org/images/pdf/silverfalls_trailmap.pdf The next mile has many spectacular views of North Falls, 136 feet of thunderous beauty. The trail drops down 77 steps and goes beneath the creek and behind the waterfall through a cavernous cutout of rock.

Here's our belated #WaterfallWednesday picture. This amazing waterfall was a part of an Extreme Pond Build in 2010 at Aquascape Inc. in St Charles, IL. The waterfall can be viewed from the front (as seen here) and from behind by entering the grotto area. This one of a kind waterfall and is a perfect place to dive off into the pond!

This is a really sad, teeny, trickly little waterfall for waterfall wednesday, but that's not why I'm posting it.

Do you see those fallen leaves scattered across the water? That's it. The first sign (for me) of fall's arrival, my very VERY favorite time of year. Cataract Creek way up in Marin County is a bit of a hike, but it's a gorgeous climb through redwoods that's worth the time even if the water isn't flowing now like it does in winter (oh, I'll be back).

It won't be long now until the aspens begin to turn, and some of y'all will probably run into me running all over the eastern sierras like a crazy person. Can I get a w00t w00t?

Black & White conversion of a shot from four years ago. Happy Waterfall Wednesday!

Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie Nat'l Forest, WA

After a long drive through the middle of the woods on a one lane, dirt road (and past one creepy house in the middle of the forest with nothing around it ) we pulled into the parking area at this beautiful waterfall.

Just as I got out my gear and was looking for a composition, a storm rolled in. Although I was hoping for some good light at sunset, a storm is the next best thing.

I wanted to capture the powerful flow of the waterfalls with the menacing clouds in the distance and I'm quite happy with the conditions and final image that I got.

I'm getting a jump on #WaterfallWednesday. This is Crystal Creek Falls (named after me of course). I went out with an amazing group of togs from near and far on New Years Eve. It was a lot of fun so I've decided my new year's resolution is going to be to go shooting with "strangers" I met online more often! It was fun to witness other techniques, and to compare gear. No one else had a Rebel XT like me, I'm surprised :-P.

A little Leslie trivia for you: I met my wonderful husband on Myspace! Sometimes I think it would be less embarrassing to say we met in a bar :). But after almost four years of marriage I still think he's amazing, and I'm pretty sure he still likes me, so meeting people online can be a pretty cool thing.

Regarding my photo, I really like the way the water turned out, but the winter foliage is kind of blah and a fallen tree is blocking the lower right hand corner of the falls. Also, I usually try to get foreground interest but decided to skip it altogether here. Does it work for you? I'd like to try this shot again in the spring when everything is lush and green.

Brandywine Falls in Cuyahoga Vally National Park

My apologies to those flickrites on the other side of the world from me where it's already Thursday. This is my first Waterfall Wednesday -- and I wish I had a better angle of this particular WF.

This is Glacier Park's Oberlin Falls -- just one of many jaw dropping waterfalls in this amazing National Park.

Some ice building up at Cushman Brook waterfalls

This is another shot from the Green Lakes trail along Fall Creek in the Three Sisters Wilderness. The threatening skies did make for good waterfall weather.

Probably could have used a ND filter here, but I got the speed I wanted by going to ƒ/22 and ISO 50.

The spray on this waterfall is nuts. The picture I wanted when the sun was out with the rainbow in front was impossible. Your lens could not stay dry for even a millisecond. I had to opt for this angle which not only kept me dry but it also allowed me to eliminate the crowd of people that were there on this particular afternoon (the 1st day of summer 2012). Ironically, the trail to the falls which is a downhill trail was covered with snow, mud and ice, so it was a challenge for a native Floridian. Next time I go to Washington state, I think it will be in August.

The waterfall drops 188 feet (57 m) in two tiers of 168 feet (51 m) and 20 feet (6.1 m). The upper tier is a horsetail that falls in several strands down a nearly sheer cliff, into a canyon that is perpendicular to it. The lower tier is a much smaller plunge.

The 77 foot waterfall spashes down into this swimming hole in Davis, Oklahoma.
