I found a forum of washing machine fanciers today. Exactly my kind of place on the internet, but I'm not sure I'm brave enough to sign up. Lots of nice pictures of old washing machines though!
La Section Rythmique: this excellent combo enthusiastically re-visits jazz standards with a touch of New Orleans and creole groove
From the Frenchmen Street in New Orleans to the Parisian jazz nights, all the way to international jazz festivals around the world, La Section Rythmique has accompanied numerous stars of the international jazz scene. The band is made up of first class sidemen: guitarist David Blenkhorn (John Faddis, Scott Hamilton, Lee Konitz), bassist Sébastien Girardot (Lillian Boutté, Evan Christopher, Cecile McLorin Salvant) and drummer Guillaume Nouaux (Donald Harrison Jr, Chuck Berry, Leroy Jones). This excellent combo enthusiastically re-visits jazz standards with a touch of New Orleans, funk blues, and creole. It is no wonder that this is Evan Christopher's rhythm section of choice. La Section Rythmique enters a new phase and is ready to take center stage. This year the band is complete with the talented violinist George Washingmachine, one of Ascona’s favorite,s and with Hetty Kate, one of Australian jazz luminary James Morrison’s favourite singers

Froggy's been looking a bit cruddy lately. Here he is in the washing machine, just before I poured the detergent (Tide with Febreze) on him. Sadly, that picture was too blurry to be used.
we put the washer and dryer out for the trash man.. within minutes the dryer was gone... woke up the next morning and so was the washer... maybe end up in the next new car on the lot.

As a result of getting my first exhibition this summer I tried to post a new photo on this site every day. I always make these goals and have these ideas and never really expect to keep them, so yeah, I missed a couple of days here and there, but I was really happy with what I achieved. The site also got a lot more interest, my Flickr account got way more hits, I was featured on Freshly Pressed (WordPress’ main page). I was pretty happy with things.
However, I don’t want to post just for the sake of it. With the cold of winter, the rain we’ve been having and working in all the daylight hours I’ve been taking less photos. You might have noticed that the previous sentence was a whole lot of whining. If you want to do something then do it. So I’ve decided then: sod the rain I’m going out and doing what I like.
Yesterday I went to C O Berlin to see the excellent Ron Galella exhibition, whilst today I went to the Martin Gropius Bau and took a look at what Ai Weiwei was doing in New York through 1983-1993. On top of this I’ve worked both days, took in two of the weirder Christmas markets (more on that another time) and taken a few [mostly not so good] photos.
I’m not trying to brag, I’m actually really damn tired, I think I’m trying to say that my pictures aren’t going to make themselves, it’s only me that wants them produced, so I’ll have to stop moaning about it and just get it done.
So yes, I was on Ohlauer Str. walking to my favourite curry house (Indian Dhaba Mira on Pannierstr.) and I looked up to see this washing machine hanging in the sky advertising the launderette next to me. I can’t believe I’ve never seen it before. I even used this launderette when I was staying in Kreuzberg. I think it’s a pretty good idea – tells you what it is and where it is. I respect that in a sign. You are now reading about what I respect in a sign. I think I’ve been writing too much. Sorry if you’ve read this far. Do I really still have your attention? Hope you like the picture. Sorry for the rant. Cheers.

The other day I was looking at a photo on David Adam Edelstein's whiny and rambling blog, and I thought to myself, I wish I had a workshop I could take photos of, and then I thought, "Hey! I have a washing machine!"
Our new washing machine!! The future is now!
We bought it from Home Depot for $1300. It has several different cycles, including normal, permanent-press, delicates, speed wash, sanitary, allergens, heavy duty, towels, bedding, and it has a steam function as well.
It also has a wi-fi connection so you can control it by an app on your phone, however, Carolyn can't run that anymore because it gets an error that it can't be run on rooted devices.

The old squeeze clamps were not tight anymore, so a quick stop at Lowe's remedies the situation and makes future removal much easier.

The Midnight Jam Session is one of the most appreciated events by both the audience and the musicians. The task of animating the festival’s crowded jams into the small hours of the morning will again rest in the hands of an irresistible French-Australian quartet, comprising violinist and singer George Washingmachine, guitarist David Blenkhorn, double bass player Sebastien Girardot, and drummer Guillaume Nouaux.
The members of the group, who will regularly be performing with other bands, will be joined by many of the festival’s protagonists giving the audience a unique opportunity to enjoy thrilling musical collaborations. Throughout the festival the interpreters and instruments will vary, but the fun will most surely remain constant.
Most of these were used in rural areas with no electricity. When electricity became available they put an electric motor on the washing machine and stuck the gas motor in the barn, shed, attic, basement, etc. Then boys got them out and built motor scooters. But how far and how fast can you go with less than a horsepower?
