The Wash, in eastern England, is a Special Protection Area under European legislation. It is made up of very extensive salt marsh, major inter tidal banks of sand and mud, shallow waters and deep channels.

Migrating birds, such as geese, ducks and wading birds, come to the Wash in huge numbers to spend the winter, with an average total of around 400,000 birds present at any one time.

It has been estimated that around two million birds will use the Wash for feeding and roosting during their annual migration.

The build up starts in mid August, and reaches a peak in December and January.

A few days a year it is possible to witness the gigantic involo of waders driven by exceptional tides at The Wash Bay in English Norfolk. In this photo part of the countless Red knots (Calidris canutus) flying all around us. Unfortunately the light is what it is in February but the experience was wonderful and exciting

I should have called this shot 'breached' given half of the north sea came over the top of my boots and filled my wellies.

Though darkness was falling we hiked about a mile down the largest branch of Nielson Wash. This branch had some tafoni too as seen on the left side of this rock formation standing in the wash. One of these days this formation will topple and be sent down stream by flood waters.

At a car wash ;-))

Reminded me of the song Car Wash by Christina Aguilera (feat. Missy Elliott).

Or if you prefer the original by Rose Royce?

Enjoy ;-))

The last moments of sunshine brightens up the bays at the Benton Car Wash. A beautiful sunset fill the sky. Car wash structures have passed the test of time as many have been around for decades. The controls can be upgraded using the existing structure.

I was reviewing a number of images from one of my trips to California and I came to a number from around the Malibu Beach, California area.

To say the least, the images brought back a lot of great memories and fun times.
