We saw this coming as the temps rose into the mid some very muggy mid 70's by mid day, feeling like 82F!
I watched what I believe was a shelf cloud form to our north & west from our front porch in the late afternoon towards Lake St. Clair.
No rain as it passed overhead, typical, but then we were hit hard as expected soon after it went by. No damage locally although there were tornado warnings issued for parts of our region.
The photo in the lower left was snapped earlier in the day in the opposite horizon to the south & east looking towards Lake Erie.
He's not quite got down to his full "busking" position but he is certainly getting his message across
Dawn this morning.
As the saying goes: "Red sky in morning, sailor’s warning. A red sunrise can mean that a high pressure system (good weather) has already passed, thus indicating that a storm system (low pressure) may be moving to the east. A morning sky that is a deep, fiery red can indicate that there is high water content in the atmosphere. So, rain could be on its way."
It was raining by 2.30pm.
A closer look at the driveway I took the other morning.
I used a few post processing techniques on this image - but the base light in the shot was already there.
On one of our last days in Newfoundland a couple of years ago, the stark loneliness of the Tablelands was emphasized when a rainstorm drove through. Locals had given us a warning the weather was changeable and told stories of men lost at sea, heroic efforts of taking a pregnant woman for help by horse through the valley in a snowstorm, and how David Suzuki once had a meal at the Seaside Restaurant in Trout River. This area was one of the highlights of our trip.
A road trip with at least some walking to stretch out the legs is essential. Consequently, a stop at Blue Mountain village in Collingwood was in order and we walked a trail to the top of the ski hill. With all the rain we've had, it was a very muddy slippery climb. On the way up we met three girls coming back down with wet muddy patches on their clothing and they gave us fair warning.
This skull is from Butser Ancient Farm a replica Iron Age settlement in Hampshire. When a house was built by a community they feasted on an animal and its skull was put over the doorway to honour it and probably bring good luck or was it to warn away evil?

The process of ravaging a fully pedestrianized historic-touristic district by Delphine Labails (mayor of Périgueux) is undoubtedly an act of foolishness. Jeopardizing the safety of pedestrians does not seem to concern our mayor... Even worse! Her recklessness and incompetence appear so widespread that she seems to find amusement in what should be taken seriously.

The bird in the first frame is warning the flock of my approach. Upon discovering that I posed no threat, the others resumed feeding. Lovely creatures.
The Lord is good when I am not. Like a careful father he warns me back from the danger.

Well, my family gave me a few minutes to take some photos. Yes, they complained the whole time. Happy Holidays from my lovely wife, Esther.

It was a very (I mean very) windy day.
I was walking towards the rising sun with the wind at my back.
At a moment I turned back and saw the view as on the photo.
Five minutes later there came a rain. Ten minutes later the rain was over and I was totally wet.
I had thought before the rainbow stood for hope, etc. But that day it was nothing but a warning.

Kidwelly Brick Works to the north of Kidwelly station was opened c.1858 by William Edwards of Swansea. This site ceased operation in c.1903. A new works was built to the south of of the railway station by Alderman Daniel Stephens which opened in 1903. Stephens worked silica from Mynydd-y-Garreg and this was brought into the works via train. Up to 1927 the firm was known as Stephens & Co, but later as Beynon Davies Civils Ltd.
These photographs, taken in March 2017, showcase the building as it stands today.
Inspiration for the framing of the shots came from the 1975 New Topographics exhibition.
Mount Warning is in Northern NSW, just over the border from Queensland. It is the first part of Australia to see the sunrise each day.

This red flag is a warning of high winds, rough surf, and high chance of rip currents. The wind on this day was out of the northwest at 25 - 35 mph (40 - 56 Km/h), although the temp was fairly nice at 74F/23C. But the family playing near the surf is either insane or from the North Pole, as the water temp was 61.7F/16.5C, which is quite cold to be swimming in. At least they weren't going out into the water, which would have been quite dangerous.
