A Cooper's hawk spotted a pair of shorebirds on the beach and launched itself after them.
He captured one and held on with a death grip.
Ultimately it flew off with his meal.
Rondeau Bay.
Accipiter cooperii
A Cooper's Hawk captures a bird with its feet and kills it by repeated squeezing. Falcons tend to kill their prey by biting it, but Cooper’s Hawks hold their catch away from the body until it dies. They’ve even been known to drown their prey, holding a bird underwater until it stopped moving.

This is a warning to be careful about drink driving as we are getting close to Christmas.
Last night I was out for my works Christmas party. One thing lead to another and I had way too many pints topped off with a couple of Jaegerbombs. Not a good idea!!
Knowing I was way over the limit, I did something I’ve never done before...I left my car in town and took a bus home. Sure enough, I passed a police checkpoint where they were pulling over drivers and performing breathalizer tests. Because I was on a bus they just waved it past. I arrived back at home safely and without incident, which was a real surprise..
I've never driven a bus before and I'm buggered if I know where I got it from or what I'm gonna do with it!
Not the most crisp capture but I was happy that I got him with his dewlap extended ;-)
Those guys are so much fun to watch but the one time I hated them was when one of them decided to jump over my shoulder onto the table at night - not cool!!!!!!

If you see a snake fangs , don't ever think it's smiling

This place is strange. I have no idea what this place is or what goes on here... But they have an IR camera outside that points at the door. Sketchy!

I was amused at the small puddle and a rather unnecessary warning cone.
Call before you dig. And watch out for rattle snakes.
The snake warning is mine as I heard one rattling in the bushes just after I shot this. Checked my path carefully as I hauled ass back to my van.

Named after one of my favorite Coldplay songs, this is the shot I wanted from this set, and I'm very glad I got it. Hope you all like it as much as I do!
Warning shot???
I've heard of firing a warning shot, so was this a case of a warning shot??
Perhaps this hapless Kombi delved too far into some secret location it perhaps should not have ventured into?
Whatever the reason for the bullet hole it certainly is a great conversation starter.
It is an annual event that attracts Kombi owners and Kombi fans and it is the Manly Kombi Rally.
This years event was held on 23 March 2019 and saw a wide and varied range of Kombi's on show.

We saw this coming as the temps rose into the mid some very muggy mid 70's by mid day, feeling like 82F!
I watched what I believe was a shelf cloud form to our north & west from our front porch in the late afternoon towards Lake St. Clair.
No rain as it passed overhead, typical, but then we were hit hard as expected soon after it went by. No damage locally although there were tornado warnings issued for parts of our region.
The photo in the lower left was snapped earlier in the day in the opposite horizon to the south & east looking towards Lake Erie.
A closer look at the driveway I took the other morning.
I used a few post processing techniques on this image - but the base light in the shot was already there.
He's not quite got down to his full "busking" position but he is certainly getting his message across
Well, this was a couple of days ago and although it rained during the course of the day it wasn't as bad as the last couple of days! Today, we've had weather warnings of possible snow and it's going to be freezing .... presently it's raining and oh so cold!!
Stay Safe Everyone!
Thanks to everyone who views this photo, adds a note, leaves a comment and of course BIG thanks to anyone who chooses to favourite my photo .... Thanks to you all!
