350 5th Ave; Walgreens' flagship store in the Manhattan area, taking up two floors on one corner of the Empire State Building. Has entrances on the first floor outside and into the lobby, and a mall-style entrance on the second floor that's right at the end of the building tour. Is laid out like a smaller version of the Philly flagship store, with snacks and drinks on the first floor and the pharmacy and cosmetics on the second.
Slight crop of the previous photo more offset to the right. The lamp glare was unavoidable..

Former site of Majestic Pontiac and Honda Dealership. Also next to the dealership was the Holiday Bowl. The dealership was located on Crenshaw at 37th Street. Both sites closed within the last few years. The land was sold and turned into a shopping center. The Shopping center includes: Walgreens Drug Store, Big Sporting Goods, Goodwill Store, Dennys Restaurant and other misc. Shops. Also included is a Starbucks, which took over a portion of the original coffee shop that was part of Holiday Bowl. Initially when the Holiday Bowling Alley closed, the community attempted to save the site, but in the end failed and only a tiny fragment was saved. The only other item that was retained was the parking lot sign seen in the picture incorporating the original Poniac Symbol for the Majestic Poniac Dealership. One of xx photos of this site in Los Angeles, California. The Dennys is located on part of what was originally Majestic's Outdoor Showroom of cars.

Sears. Wieboldt's L. Fish Furniture. Walgreen's. The Southtown and Englewood Theaters. Hillman's Grocery Store. Jewel. And dozens of other stores, restaurants and banks radiating out in all directions from the intersection of 63rd and Halsted. It's like they never existed. The 3-story building that housed Kresge's burned a while back, and is now just a water-filled hole in the ground. You can still see the scorch marks on the building just to the south.
The vacant lot at the northwest corner of 63rd and Halsted is supposed to be the future home of a Whole Foods. I suppose it will all work out -- the urban planners who devised it (and whose predecessors devised the turning of this intersection into a pedestrian/bus mall in the 60's, which only hastened its decline) have much more experience in this sort of thing than I.
But if they're planning on a summer 2016 grand opening, they're going to have to move at warp speed.
I still say that this Whole Foods (in a neighborhood where the median income is $30,000/yr and whose population has declined by two-thirds since 1960) is a thinly veiled message from the City to Englewood's low-income residents that their days here are numbered.
And if you don't think that kind of real-estate chess game can happen, ask the working-class Puerto Ricans who used to live along Armitage in Lincoln Park.
UPDATE: The Englewood Whole Foods, that opened to much fanfare, and $1.99 loss-leader half gallons of milk in September 2016, closed in November 2022. How long will it take for another grocery store to take its place? We shall see.

The Walgreen Agency Drug Co. were ran by the Walgreen Co. up until the 1980s when the agency program was ended. I never heard of these until coming upon this location, I would guess it was a type of franchise.
Either way, after the Walgreen Agency years ended at this location, it became a Valu Rite Drug Co. (the Valu Rite signs being placed over the Walgreen name) One of the Valu Rite signs either fell off or was removed, exposing the Walgreen sign under it.
This location now operates under the name Corner Drug Store while still preserving the exterior facade
I was watching T.V. the other night and saw the Walgreen's commercial for this year's flu shot campaign. It shows a woman getting a flu shot and going to the office where the people are Neanderthals and do the grossest things possible that share germs with one another (which is sad that that is probably all true to life in most places... ? people are gross), and the woman was all happy that she had gotten her flu shot.
And because I had already thought of doing a drawing with a hazmat suit in it, I decided to make this drawing. Because if you don't get a flu shot, you should probably be wearing one. Or maybe you are wearing one so you don't have to get a flu shot. But I thought it was funny, so I drew it. There you go. A peek into my train of thought. I hope you enjoy the drawing.
