Snowing hard today along with the usual wind. It inspired me to post a snow flake from an earlier snowfall.

I have seen dendrite snowflakes by other photographers on Flickr that had "thin film effect" colors in the center. This is the first time I've had a photo of a dendrite that had that. My microscope objective has a lot of problems with chromatic aberrations. While they're fairly easy to remove in Lightroom removing them would also have removed the center colors so I have left the aberrations in this photo. Tried to clean them up as much as I could without killing the center colors.

The building is very much in harmony with the surrounding nature, the only hard line between inside and outside is the glass

Allium sativum has long been used as a seasoning, with a history of several thousand years of human consumption. It was known to ancient Egyptians and has been used as a food flavouring and in traditional medicine. These examples were grown organically in Cumbria.

There are hundreds of varieties of garlic, most notably split into the subspecies of hardneck (var. Ophioscorodon) and softneck (var. Sativum).

In this still-life photo, the two bulbs on the left are softneck, and those on the right are hardneck. The softneck bulbs here originate from Georgia, while the hardnecks are from Ukraine.

Tonight's sunset was pretty decent! I actually went out to photograph wildlife and on the way home I just saw the high clouds catching the first bit of light and I just knew it was going to be a decent sunset, so I headed straight for Cropston Reservoir - I just didn't realise how amazing it would be ! Intense and absolutely stunning!

This is the Leanach Cottage on Culloden Battlefield, and is the only building remaining from the time of the famous battle in which the Jacobites were soundly defeated in 1746. It continued to be occupied up until 1912, and is now maintained in its current condition, though visitors are no longer allowed inside. We walked the solemn battlefield which is a mass graveyard, peaceful and quiet on a cloudy day, accompanied by a historian who is steeped in the stories and mythology of Scottish history.

The Gumpendorfer Straße station of the Vienna U-Bahn line U6.

The station was built for the belt line of the Vienna Steam City Railway. In their early plans, it was sometimes referred to as the Gumpendorf or Gumpendorf Line, before it finally got the name that is still in use today. Like the other Light Rail facilities, the Gumpendorfer Straße station was designed by Otto Wagner on behalf of the Commission for Transport Facilities in Vienna. The construction was completed in July 1896, the commissioning on 1 June 1898. From 1925, the new Wiener Elektrische Stadtbahn served the station as a substitute, and in 1989 the U6 line took over this function.

Sometimes we have this desire to return to a past where we felt perfectly happy and where everything seemed easier. But time goes on and it is up to us to make sure that the moments we experience today will become the ones we cherish in the future. And yes, a little bit of nostalgia is not necessarily a bad thing!

After driving through a hailstorm near Gillette WY on my way to Montana, I saw the sun pop out and this coal train depart. I feel like I fucked up the shot slightly but it’s good enough given the extreme conditions and the rainbow.
