Michel Pastoureau, in his fascinating "color stories" tells us that Paleolithic men used white, black and red as the first mastered color. As an archetype, for occidental man ; red is both one and the colors.

/

And we're homin' it, like now

Uno Port has become one of the places in the contemporary art festival “Setouchi International Art Festival” which established on 2013 and artworks are scattered around the port.

This art festival is held every three years with the aim of revitalizing Setouchi’s area and introducing Setouchi’s charm to the world with the theme of “Sea Revival”.

This is named - the Black Sea Bream of Uno/Child Chinu- the Black Sea Bream of Uno

Created from empty cans, PET bottles, and cast-offs collected from households, the Chinu (blackhead sea bream) was installed for the first edition of the Triennale. As in the previous event, the sculpture has been reborn for this edition by retouching the colors and replacing components that have been weathered by the sea breeze.

This photo captures the stunning Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute in Venice during sunrise. The golden light illuminates the basilica and the row of gondolas parked in front, creating a serene and peaceful atmosphere. The long exposure captures the silky appearance of the water, adding to the sense of calm. The colors are soft and warm, with shades of orange and yellow blending together in the sky and reflecting on the water. Overall, it's a breathtaking and magical moment that has been beautifully captured in this photograph.

When I photographed the rock in my previous image, another location came to mind. That is of Normanton Church, and if you look at the shape of both, I am sure that you will see some similarities. After all, not for nothing that rock is called ‘Church Rock’.

Normanton Church, as I am sure some didn’t fail to notice, has become my ’special’ location. One I come back to time and again. It does help a tad that it is not that far from me.

Do you have a particular location that is your ‘own’ place? Or perhaps, you have more than one of those.

The Larabanga Mosque is a mosque built in the Sudanese architectural style in the village of Larabanga, Ghana. It is the oldest mosque in the country and one of the oldest in West Africa, and has been referred to as the "Mecca of West Africa". It has undergone restoration several times since it was founded in 1421. The World Monuments Fund (WMF) has contributed substantially to its restoration, and lists it as one of the 100 Most Endangered Sites. The restoration works have revived the knowledge of adobe maintenance.

The mosque has an old Quran, believed by the locals to have been given as a gift from heaven in 1650 to Yidan Barimah Bramah, the Imam at the time, as a result of his prayers. The mosque, built using West African adobe, has two tall towers in pyramidal shape, one for the mihrab which faces towards Mecca forming the facade on the east and the other as a minaret in the northeast corner. These are buttressed by twelve bulbous shaped structures, which are fitted with timber elements. (Wikipedia)

During our stay at Mole National Park, we visited this beautiful, ancient mosque situated in a town just outside the park. Two members of the mosque took us on a guided tour of the exterior, but we could not go inside. They did let us have a peek inside through the women's door, which we appreciated.

It seems impossible to have a 'favourite' shot of these fantastic little dwellings, so I've posted a couple, for starters!

Zig zag moods - A long exposure at sunset of 'The blocks', the iconic zig zag breakwater on the outer sea wall at St Monans.

The rough conditions with the waves crashing over the breakwater take on a somewhat luminous moody appearance from the long exposure, whilst the approaching sunset allows some colour to develop in the sky.

Bass Rock is just visible on the distant horizon catching the last rays of sunlight though a gap in the clouds.

Thursday #sunset seen behind the tallest lighthouse in Florida, the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse, captured from New Smyrna Beach (~1 mile away).

For this shot, I'm standing on a pile of rocks on the south side of the Ponce Inlet. It was a surreal scene.

Loved these sights, while walking through a small village at the end of our hike last Saturday - Sant'Albano (PV) Italy

At the end of my son's soccer practice, the fog rolled in. I took a quick shot of some parents standing at the edge of the field waiting for their children. There was empty playground equipment and benches that offered interesting silhouettes. I was struck by the other-worldliness of the scene.
