One of my favourite images taken from my trip - sunrise in Bagan, Myanmar.
Every day, I'd find new temples, pagodas and vantage points to explore. Visiting in the dry season, where the temperatures are cooler, also meant that the iconic hot air balloons took flight each morning at dawn. This particular shot was taken from one of the more popular pagodas in Old Bagan. It really is an extraordinary place.
I've photographed this schoolhouse in the past. Since I was in the area during a recent road trip I decided to revisit and shoot from a different perspective.
I was pleased with how it turned out with Washington States' Mount Adams in the background.

I spent the morning in a black mood and then decided to get creative.
A saved dandelion clock from the summer, a new macro lens and bottle of wine later........ black mood gone 😄

The USAF Thunderbirds fly in formation this past Sunday at Airshow London. It was mostly an overcast day but the sun broke through during the highlight performance of the afternoon, illuminating the squadron of F16's on a backdrop of dark skies.

My picture here just 'happened' and I love it. As soon as I saw it in the camera, I knew this was it.
For me, it brought to mind the saying "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". In other words, what I think is beautiful, you may not. In essence, there's a literal meaning - that the perception of beauty is subjective - what one person finds beautiful another may not.
In researching the word I learned that it was Margaret Wolfe Hungerford (née Hamilton) who wrote many books, often under the pseudonym of 'The Duchess', who first wrote the actual line in 1878 "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". Even before that, however, 16th century author William Shakespeare said "Beauty is bought by judgement of the eye, Not utter'd by base sale of chapmen's tongues". Then Benjamin Franklin in Poor Richard's Almanack, 1741, wrote: "Beauty, like supreme dominion, is but supported by opinion." David Hume in his Essays, Moral and Political, 1742, wrote "Beauty in things exists merely in the mind which contemplates them."
To make things even more interesting, it seems the saying was known as far back as the 3rd century BC in Greece. Whoever thought that researching just one word could bring up so much interesting information?

I wanted to photograph the decorative elements in our garden for a long time. The closest is sometimes the farthest. Wouldn't you like to sit across from it and read a book while drinking your coffee?
Topping out at the crux of Corvus in the Lake District. Spotted the exceptionally stunning stone circle looking over the valley.

I thought of the old movie, "Attack of The Killer Tomatoes", when I found this tomato in my garden with a deteriorating face and alien look. I love pareidolia anywhere you can find it. HSS!

There is nothing better than artisan sourdough bread, lightly toasted with fresh tomatoes and mayo, my daily bread.
The Chicago Theater is an historic movie palace in the city of Chicago. It's now used mostly as a live music venue, and has been restored to its original splendor. During a tour I noticed the stairs to the upper levels. Pointing my camera straight up, the curves of the bannisters created this graceful effect.

When I was under the two giants, I was moved, they were so big, so tall, so majestic.
I braced myself for an extreme "nadir" frame, looking for the two towers to close in almost to touch each other. the vanishing point towards infinity gave me a perspective that helped the composition and then those marvelous seconds passed in each photograph, in each image, in each photographic shot. I still get emotional when I remember it and I enjoy it every time I see it, I wish that you also have this feeling.

An autumnal soft-tone macro still life shot in total darkness except 2 candles. Two apples and several mini red and golden apples from my bonsai trees.
Still life sperimentale in totale oscurità salvo due candele, macro "soft" e tante mele, grandi e bonsai, per festeggiare San Martino e, speriamo, il ritorno della primavera per una settimanina :-)
