On World AIDS Day, December 1, 2020 the End AIDS New York Community Coalition gathered outside Governor Cuomo's offices in Manhattan, to convene at a rally and press conference, demanding Governor Cuomo to make good on his commitment to end AIDS as an epidemic in New York State, in a full and equitable manner that eliminates persistent HIV health disparities based on race, poverty, and marginalized identities. As some of you may or may not know, today is the 20th anniversary of World AIDS Day. With a little more info on the day and what you can do to help click here.
Before becoming aware of World AIDS Day and the meaning behind it, Todd and I had decided to take part in a Christmas donation through our church and their "Christmas Catalog." Through this catalog, we have decided to help an AIDS orphan get their much needed medical care for a year. It feels good to help, and just think... if everyone did a small part what a difference it would make.
As seen above...
Update:
A little info about the Starbucks sleeve above that I just learned. =)
Starbucks has partnered with (RED) to raise funds and awareness to help eliminate AIDS in Africa. With every purchase of a (STARBUCKS)RED EXCLUSIVE beverage at participating Starbucks through January 2nd, five cents will be donated to the Global Fund.
Sweet!
World AIDS Day, observed December 1 every year, is dedicated to raising awareness worldwide and to unite in the fight against HIV. If just one person asks why the Opera House is red, it's one more person that is made aware about AIDS. This photo today is dedicated to the strength of all those people living with HIV/AIDS across the world.

Xmas dollies - supporting women living with HIV / Aids
This year we decided to have a cake sale and donate the proceeds to the Baphumelele Childrens home in Khayelitsha. All the staff members baked something and Thando sold the cake to guests and businesses in the area.
This day has been getting increasingly harder for me to deal with each passing year. It doesn't help that this is the start of my Holiday Season and what I tend to dwell on moving into Winter. I'd like to think that sometime during my lifetime there won't be a need for a day like this.I feel guilty because I'm tired. Just tired... I feel guilty because I don't always know how to be there for one of my friends who has been living with HIV for thirteen years when my energy is low and dealing with my own health issues and I don't want him to worry about me when he should be taking care of himself. I didn't know about T-Cell Counts and medicine schedules but have had to slowly learn because his family doesn't always present themselves in their best light and treat him like a person, a grown ass man, with compassion and respect. I've been pushing him to get the services that are avaialable to give him some of independence back that people seem yo want to take from him out of fear and ignorance. I miss all of my friends and mentors that have passed on. I miss the people that I never got to meet or meet me that could have made a difference in each others lives.I thought with the passage of time thing would be easier but I'm finding the opposite is true. My whole support system is gone and there are days where I need someone in my corner. I normally try to share their stories around this time but I haven't had it in me the past few years. When is enough is enough? This has gone on too long. If I can leave anything with you todays it's this, treat each other and yourselves with kindness, respect, and compassion. I wish I could offer more but my head is in a strange space right now.

Hundreds of lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders from different organizations and militant groups march in the stretch of Tomas Morato Quezon City to commemorate the annual Lesbian,Gay,Bisexual and Transgenders (LGBT) Pride and World Aids Day. It is also a call for the administration to provide 100% percent support in the promotion of safe sex by using condoms and other contraceptives, in order to fight against the deadly HIV disease.
