EN: On the occasion of the 175th anniversary of the railroad in Switzerland, an 1910m long RhB train, consisting of 25 new "Capricorn" multiple units, was led from Preda to Alvaneu on 29.10.2022. It is thus officially the longest passenger train on narrow gauge.
The picture shows the long train crossing the 65m high and 136m long Landwasser viaduct near Filisur station. This is regarded as an unmistakable landmark of the railroad company as well as the Albula Railway, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008.

DE: Anlässlich des 175-jährigen Jubiläums der Eisenbahn in der Schweiz wurde am 29.10.2022 ein rund 1910m langer RhB Zug, bestehend aus 25 neuen Capricorn-Triebzügen von Preda nach Alvaneu geführt. Es handelt sich damit offiziell um den längen Reisezug auf Schmalspur.
Das Bild zeigt den langen Zug bei der Überquerung des 65m hohen und 136m langen Landwasserviadukts in der Nähe des Bahnhofs Filisur. Dieses gilt als unverkennbares Wahrzeichen der Bahngesellschaft sowie der seit 2008 zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe gehörenden Albulabahn.

La semplice panoramica non mi convinceva, così ho provato a dare questo effetto che da sempre mi piace molto, e che nel futuro vorrei sviluppare...
Si tratta di 7 scatti verticali per realizzare una panoramica, fatti dalla nave attraccata nel porto di Malaga, a cui per la prima volta ho provato a dare questo effetto, pur essendo non perfetta, mi piaceva molto l'effetto dato dalle nuvole.

LNER 4468 Mallard is a LNER Class A4 4-6-2 steam locomotive built by the London & North Eastern Railway at Doncaster Works, England in 1938. It is historically significant as the holder of the world speed record for steam locomotives at 126 mph (203 km/h).
The Zamość Rotunda was built in the years 1825-31, as a defense system for Zamość.
During World War II, the Germans created a camp for arrested people here. Later, in 1942, this facility was also the site of numerous mass executions, which included the population of the Zamość region, including children, until 1943. It is estimated that about 8 thousand people were killed here.

Podczas II wojny światowej Niemcy stworzyli tu obóz dla ludności aresztowanej. Później, w roku 1942, obiekt ten stanowił także miejsce licznych, masowych egzekucji, jakie obejmowały do roku 1943 ludność Zamojszczyzny, w tym również dzieci. Szacuje się, że pozbawiono tu życia około 8 tysięcy ludzi.

The Hamburg warehouse district. By 1927, 24 memory blocks were built. The function of the warehouses was the duty-free storage and processing of goods. The goods were usually reloaded from the cargo ships onto barges and brought to the warehouse floors by winches. The warehouse district has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2015.

Clouds are such lovely creation, aren't they? Also, the light of the sun reflecting on them and creating colours and different moods, sometimes just like an art that makes you believe the Creator is the greatest artist...
I simply get lost in them. Summer sunsets are amazing!
Fungi world, Finland.
This small forest near my home has become an important place for me, not just for photography but for general wandering around (though some of my favourite photos have been captured there as well). It lies near busier areas but as an unwelcoming place for most people, some tranquility can be found there any time.
I have circled around the above fallen tree many times but this was the first time I made a decent photo of it. Some raindrops and soft evening light added to the mood.
We are all crazy people who marvel that we live in a gravitational well called Earth, shrouded into a barely breathable atmosphere and encircling a gravitational nuclear explosion.
And when we leave, do we really leave?
And did we really were?

World Elephant Day has been celebrated every August 12th since 2012 to raise awareness for the need to protect and preserve elephants.
Elephants are an endangered species, and the animal’s population has shrunk significantly over the past few decades. For example, in Africa, there are only about 415,000 elephants remaining; in 1989, there were 600,000, and in 1979, there were 1.3 million. Many factors have contributed to population decrease, but one of the most significant is poaching. Poachers in Africa have illegally killed an estimated 110,000 elephants over the past decade - about one quarter of what Africa’s elephant population was 10 years ago.

Ohne Bienen kein Leben. Was so einfach klingt, ist vielen Menschen gar nicht bewusst. Mehr als 75 Prozent der Nahrungsmittelpflanzen weltweit sind von der Bestäubung durch Bienen abhängig. Ein Aussterben der Insekten hätte schlimme Folgen auch für die Menschheit. Heute ist "Internationaler Weltbienentag" - an dem nicht nur die Vereinten Nationen auf mehr Schutz für die Bienen dringen.
In 2015 the bees are still dying in masses. Which at first seems not very important until you realize that one third of all food humans consume would disappear with them. Millions could starve. The foes bees face are truly horrifying – some are a direct consequence of human greed. We need to help our small buzzing friends or we will face extremely unpleasant consequences.
Without bees we cannot survive! We all need to wake up and do something against the destruction of their habitat.
We had a rather bleak approach to Ushguli which is listed as a UNESCO world heriitage site. Currently, heavy road work is under way to improve Ushguli's connection. After finishing, it will be a piece of cake to come here for every tourist arriving by car.
Dresden's Elbtal lost its world heritage status for a comparably intrusive infrastructure project. I haven't heard of a similar discussion going on for Ushguli.
Another cloudy day on the hill. It’s beginning to rain now for the 3rd day. I’m glad I was up earlier to get a couple of shots in. I really don’t need anymore right now, I only have 63K photos.
