Enjoy:-D....

Anyone who has followed me for more than a few years knew that I had an obsession with the elevator in Morrice, some maybe calling it unhealthy. After it was finally torn down a couple years ago, there really wasn't much reason to visit Morrice, until I started snooping around the other elevator in town that is far less appealing structurally, but has plenty of other things to work with. After discovering the WC was leading an overnight A491, I did my sleep deprivation routine and ventured out into the muggy night and began setting up. Just a few minutes before 5am, A491 comes flying through the small farming town alerting everyone to its presence, and me alerting them to mine with some speedlights.

Still in the archives. A visit to Heathdale - Glen Orden Wetlands in on this day in 2018.

On the Bow River, near Vermillion Lakes, Banff, Alberta, Canada

Papa loon bringing home the bacon. He was working hard to feed his family. I laughed at times because I thought a few fish he brought were too big for the babies. Found this healthy family on a gem of a lake in the middle of nowhere in British Columbia. Not a human soul around! There was 3 successful hatches, two babies with each pair. Definitely loon paradise! Proof that loons uninterrupted by human ignorance have a better chance of surviving.

I want to use my pictures to raise awareness to save the Common Loons.

Loons are dying of lead poisoning after eating fish with lead sinkers, and possibly after picking up discarded sinkers from lake bottoms. The lead is partially dissolved in the loon’s gizzard, or second part of the bird’s stomach, then absorbed into the blood and body tissues. The absorbed lead causes nerve, kidney, and other tissue damage. North American studies indicate that a significant proportion of adult loon deaths on the breeding grounds is attributable to lead poisoning from ingestion of sinkers.

To protect the loons on lakes, boats should be kept well away from swimming birds, particularly when they are with chicks that are too young to dive or fly. Some shoreline areas should be left undisturbed to accommodate loon nests, and boaters passing these areas should travel at speeds that do not cause wash. Anglers have the responsibility of using non-lead sinkers and of ensuring that no hooks or lines are left unattended or abandoned.

I can't remember what had caught this one's attention.

“Somehow, we'll find it. The balance between whom we wish to be and whom we need to be. But for now, we simply have to be satisfied with who we are.”

Sometimes I struggle with close up shots, it's the realism I desire to showcase and at times, that falls flat. This skin by the Skinnery made this shot so easy!

One from the archives again.

For the ones who have been following for a long time, you know how much I like experiencing with blur effect in a natural way, meaning not in photoshop but only by the way I positioned myself. Yesterday I had the chance to photograph this gorgeous Morning Dove at a very close range. It took me at least 45 minutes to get to that range just a bit at a time. She or he was sitting on a log covered by snow and at times, looking for food through the snow. Going through all my images helped me analyzed how I can do it better and found a few things I had not noticed in the past. So in the future, I will position myself that way for a lighter background which gives you the impression of a fog all around the subject. If I had not tried different things, I would have never found this.

Thank you to all who comment and/or fave my images, it is much appreciated.

I'm not sure what we were so serious about...who was riding which bike or which bank was it going to be?

But I know it was fun. Thanks to you and your sisters, Belinda :)

From the Indians who welcomed the pilgrims

And to the buffalo who once ruled the plains

Like the vultures circling beneath the dark clouds

Looking for the rain

Looking for the rain

Just like the cities staggered on the coastline

Living in a nation that just can't stand much more

Like the forest buried beneath the highway

Never had a chance to grow

Never had a chance to grow

And now it's winter

Winter in America

Just when I’d stopped looking, love found me leaning against a club wall, pretending not to notice your smile.

You called me Goldie,

I called you Trouble,

and suddenly the night was a song — teasing, laughing, pulling each other close then drifting apart again, like a dance we didn’t rehearse but somehow knew by heart.

Funny how love shows up when you’ve already written it off… just around the corner, under golden lights, waiting to prove you wrong.

It's starts with You and I ♥
