While waiting for the female Painted Bunting to show up, this Harrier came by. The PB remained anonymous.
Bombay Hook NWR, Delaware.
Always alone, while strolling along these fractured shores.
Biding my time, ever soaring up high with shooting stars.
Cracking a smile, while singing quietly these unheard songs.
Drifting inward, and laughing nonstop to a strange inner space.
Continuing the "Nature on Ice" series. Getting back to some more experimental cosmic candy. I'm still trying to get some Winter ideas out of the bucket. Spring shall return shortly. Wishing my Flickr friends a wonderful weekend!
Thanks for the favs and kind compliments. They are much appreciated!
While in Central Oregon, I took the chance to stop by and see this waterfall for the first time. Turns out I had been right by it in the past, and didn't even know it :)
Happy Waterfall Wednesday :)
While watching the waves, for a moment I thought I'm somewhere else and the time is different.
I had to get away from the everyday rush and clear my mind. I found my peace here, at the shore of Lake Ontario. The weather wasn't good. It was windy and cloudy, but it didn't matter ...
Brown Hare, with bleeding ear, caused by another Hare, during a boxing session. Only just caught the end as we pulled up, one day I will capture it. Taken in Norfolk.
Seen while strolling the beach in Oriental Bay. The plane is not really that close as I was on the telephoto end of the zoom. I guess the people living up there get used to it?
Have a good Wednesday. It's raining and 10C here and I am cooking dinner tonight.
While shooting birds today, I thought I'd try to get these fast movers in flight with my 800mm. Phew!
While many other places in the northern hemisphere are showing signs of warming weather, we continue to demonstrate why it is not the weather that drew us here. No, ironically we came for the jobs.

While back east during the process of putting my young lad to rest after his untimely and tragic demise earlier in February of this , I wandered through several of my old photographic haunts like Hoboken NJ, the wonderful Erie Lackawanna Ferry-Rail Terminal now utilized by New Jersey Transit, PATH and New York Waterway today. The green patina of the oxidized copper adorns it’s exterior.

While on my way north I couldn’t resist not grabbing some shots with the fresh snow on the trees. One spot I’ve had in mind for a while was an over pass just south of the North Billerica depot. With Keolis outbound train #311 nearing it was a good option. I noticed it was late but I still headed out to set up and to my surprise a geometry extra was making its way with recently rebuilt F40 leading the way as they split the automatics. A view of the Lincoln Theater, last known as the Lincoln Grand 8, in the 200 block of S. Kickapoo St. in downtown Lincoln. The architectural style of the original theater is Italian Villa, a design that is typically asymmetrical while the Italianate style emphasizes symmetry. The Lincoln Theater is a contributing property in the Lincoln Courthouse Square Historic District that was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985
.
The Lincoln Theater opened in early-1923 with the Lon Chaney film “John Quincy Adams Sawyer”. In addition to cinema, the theater featured an organ and live stage shows well into the 1930’s. In 1985, the Lincoln Theater was twinned, and was turned into a quad in the mid-1990s. A $6M addition in 2016 added four more screens, 775 seats, a new lobby and exterior streetscape. Rechristened as the Lincoln Grand 8, the theater closed in late 2018 after the owners defaulted on a $3.9M bank loan. Additionally, the city of Lincoln, which had bet on the theater project helping to attract more business and customers downtown, was out $2.3M in Tax Increment Financing (TIF) bond proceeds.
As of October 2020, the Lincoln Grand 8 Theater is on the market for $1.2M. The sale includes more than 42,000 square feet spread among three buildings - the original theater which opened in 1922, the 2016 addition, and a 1920s-built commercial building at the corner of S. Kickapoo and Clinton St.
Although the current pandemic environment has not been disastrous to cinemas, hopefully the theater will find a buyer.
Lincoln is the seat of Logan County, which is situated in central Illinois approximately 26 miles northeast of Springfield, the state capitol. The estimated population of Lincoln in 2018 was 13,685.
The fallen Autumn leaves still on this woodland scene in spring added interest and a bit of a lead in through the scene to the light.
Its a while since I posted a proper landscape shot that wasn’t ICM and ive a few still lurking on my hard drive to post process from winter and spring trips!
While taking a couple of distant photos of this barred owl it suddenly became alerted and flew directly toward me making a catch just 15 ft. in front of me. Unfortunately I didn't have the camera set for a flight shot but did take a photo of the owl covering the catch from where I was standing before quickly backing away leaving it to enjoy the catch. I'm guessing this is one of the three spring owlets.

Just before I had seen from home that two roe deer raced after each other, one of them broke off the chase (which turned out to be a buck) and had already come back to graze near the fawns and now the female also rushed back
While looking for shots to add to my Stuff in the Sand collection, I came across this log washed up on the beach somewhere between San Simeon and Morro Bay.
Then I realized I got one shot for two collections. it also fits into my Wild and Weathered Wood collection.
While hoping the MNNR job would go down to 35W, I ascertained that a Z and a ballast train with a KCS leader would soon be coming through Dinkytown. West Hump got the Z over to main 2, and then got the ballast train out of Van Buren for a clean run on main 1. A pair of Belles run past the new rustic- and earthy-toned apartments, seen from the nice northside view at East Minneapolis.
While most people were enjoying there extra hour in bed i was leaving my house at 5.45am and heading towards Bath. The plan was to head for Bathampton but due to road closures because of Bristol/Bath Marathon and getting a bit lost i ended up at Limpley Stoke. I had been there before but never with my camera and the mist rising before dawn made me stop there and try to get some images. I hope you enjoy what i captured.
While I am impressed by the additional mask capabilities of Lightroom I would say the Sky selection masking needs some work IMHO, on every image where I have used it has left a halo when I bring the image into Photoshop for final tweaking. Oct and early November are great times of the year to capture lake mist or more technically radiation fog, this occurs because the water has absorbed and retained the suns heat as air that has been cooled by the night temperatures that is moisture laden passes over warmer water of the lake. This scene is of my favorite places to welcome the morning and take in the light show as the sun rises at least when I don’t have a camera in hand and a cup of steaming coffee instead.
I took this on Oct 23rd, 2021 with my D850 and Tamron 15-30 f2.8 G2 Lens at 30mm, 1/5s, f8 ISO 64 processed in LR, PS +Topaz ,and DXO
Disclaimer: My style is a study of romantic realism as well as a work in progress
While out feeding the birds had to snap a picture of my snowman in the backyard. Most schools in northern MI closed today but Charlevoix is open! We are once again in storm warning.
While photographing Atka that day, as I can recall a Poodle walked by strutting her stuff. There was a Dog Show on Canada Day at Lions Park in Brantford On. and as you can see, Atka took notice of her. I'd do the same thing buddy, but I'd get a smack upside the head.
While it seems every man and his dog were up the S&C again, I decided on a more local outing. Not being arsed to have a full day out and seeing 419 was allocated to this, there was really only one option in my opinion. Having done my local spots to death with this train and still not succeeding with the sun, I travelled further up the coast for a more scenic, picturesque view. St Bees is the location and running 46 minutes early, 37419 heads north with the usual monthly 1q47 Derby-Carlisle test train. 37423 was on the rear. Had it been on time it would've been touch and go with the sun as a bank of cloud had started to roll in by then.
Now thats just about every 37 nailed on this train, all I need now is 37425 in it's Regional Railway's livery to complete the set!!
While chasing a S/B from Oneonta, I came across a N/B with pushers. U33Cs-756 & 762 were doing the honors. Earlier in the day, I caught the same two pushing another N/B.
While the stormy clouds building in the distance look good, it does not compete to what I saw when I arrived, and that was brilliant sun that made the good looking clouds absolutely spectacular. Regardless, the SD40-2W working hard on the home stretch back to Flint was worth it as it brings L514 back from Moterm with a decent size train.

While waiting on a tardy Big Boy departure from Denver, a northbound local on BNSF's Brush Sub is seen preparing to cross the UP Greeley Sub in Commerce City, CO.
I hadn't expected to find a Tundra Swan at Anchor Point. In fact, it's the first Tundra Swan I've seen in Alaska. I suspect it's just passing through to it's breeding ground further North. Some of the other photographers present didn't shoot any photos thinking it's just the normal trumpeter swans and it wasn't until I was processing the images when I saw the yellow near the eye. A great find!
Taken 3 May 2023 at Anchor Point, Alaska.
While out shooting I noticed a crop duster operating in the field next to me but didn't think much about it until the noise grew louder and I turned to see this. Immediately the famous crop duster scene in North By Northwest came to mind. I was tempted to run and make my escape but I'm no Cary Grant so I decided to take the photo instead.
As always, your faves and comments are appreciated. Constructive criticism and suggestions are especially welcome as I believe they help to make me a better photographer. Thank you for taking the time to look at my photos.
