There are four people in this picture. One is kneeling, one is sitting, one's on the phone, the other is taking the picture. Waldo is not among them. I don't know where he is.

...depends on where you sit

This guy was waiting for his human to come back out of the store. Every little bit he would let out a pitiful little whimper. Poor guy, it was the end of the world.

At a place called Deadman's Flat, just outside the boundary of the Navajo Nation in northern Arizona, the trunk of an old juniper tree has been turned into a totem where travelers often leave gifts in a hollowed out space below the tallest figure's head.

I have struggled to find any information beyond speculation about the origin, history, or purpose of this curious site. I lived in Flagstaff, was a ranger at Grand Canyon, and now I'm a guide and I still have not found a satisfactory answer.

The painted faces appear to be related to the Hopi Kachinas; a former colleague of mine once told me he thinks they are a representation of Maasaw, the Hopi god of death. There are stories of Navajo repelling raids in the area where this totem sits today. There are stories of a cowboy who went crazy and shot his horse before shooting himself.

Death seems to be a common theme for this location. It's been there a long time, but nobody seems to know how long. Some of the locals say it's been there as long as they can remember. Millions of travelers pass through on the highway without ever noticing it, but once you do, it's impossible not to take note as you go by.

Either way-- it seems to be a common stopping place for travelers in the area to take a picture and perhaps leave a small offering, but to whom and for what?

Season 3, Episode 15: “Two Sides of October”

The latest episode of our original series, “Where Have You Been?” which suggests things to do and places to visit around the Second Life Grid, this episode we visit two destinations whose October intentions are slightly different: one is to scare, and one celebrates all that is October and All Hallows. Both are delightful places to visit.

The cluster (Messier 45) is dominated by hot blue and extremely luminous stars that have formed within the last 100 million years.

The latest result (August, 2014) used very long baseline radio interferometry (VLBI) to determine a distance of 136.2 ± 1.2 pc, thereby claiming "that the Hipparcos measured distance to the Pleiades cluster is in error.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen visited a clinical hospital where wounded Ukrainian servicemen receive treatment.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Mette Frederiksen spoke with the warriors, in particular, with those who were wounded during the fighting in the Kursk region, and in the Kupyansk and Lyman directions.

The President awarded the defenders with the Orders “For Courage,” II and III classes.

“Thank you for your service, for defending our state. Get well as soon as possible,” he said.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy also honored the military medics with the Order of Princess Olga, III class, and medals “For Military Service to Ukraine.”

“Thank you for everything you do for our guys. I have great respect for your work, for saving lives. My heartfelt thanks to you for this,” the President noted.

In addition, the leaders inspected the equipment used by the doctors in their surgeries and examined the project for the construction of a new admission unit, designed to receive 40 patients at a time. It will include a diagnostic center, an examination room, a manipulation room, and an intensive care unit. It will also be integrated into the passageway between the surgical and trauma buildings, providing quick and barrier-free access to the three buildings in the complex.
