It seems that there were many vocal people upset that I would dare to do a bloody gory photo involving a child during a month that is not October. Or that isn't some screenshot from a crime drama. Or any of the acceptable forms of sharing the creative process with my daughter while teaching her it is okay to be twisted sometimes. (I'm not letting her in on all the people calling her mommy names or demanding the photo be withdrawn from Flickr. She loves the picture. She loves getting covered in fake blood. And she's not too shy about real blood either. [Wants to be a vet, blood happens.]) Add in one of the worst asthma attacks I have had in a while (didn't sleep during the night because I stopped breathing), and my day has been rather melancholy and withdrawn.
I almost let it make me give up. Why bother with my camera if people are going to threaten me with a call to the police? I do feel kind of bitter that people will judge me based on a photo without bothering to look at its intent, nor the rest of my work which tends more towards happy whimsy. I mean seriously people? Just because you feel protected by the anonymity of an online forum to spit insults doesn't mean you aren't hurting the person on the side. And yes, by many standards the comments I received were tame.
Anyway, rant over. I'm being good and not running away. I love you, my Hereios. Sorry about the blather.

Perhaps one of the worst names for a shopping establishment that I can think of. But, this is Japan after all. Whity is an underground mall in Umeda that boasts over 200 shops for the enjoyment of its daily 600,000 visitors. Osaka has to be the world's capitol for underground shopping with Namba Walk, Crysta Nagahori, Diamor, among others.
Whity. Umeda, Osaka.
