A view of one of the groynes at West WIttering beach before the mass invasion of beachgoers really got going. We got there at about 8.15am and the car park was already getting full which shows how popular the place is.

Holidays in Scotland in winter always stir the imagination that there will be a decent amount of snow about and the already startling landscape will be transformed into a winter wonderland. The added bonus is that whatever the snow situation there are such a wide range of stunning places, and Gruinard beach is a wonderful spot on a sunny day!! Cold day in the sun by Foo Fighters is perfect , but it's not as cold as last time we visited, when I paddled through sheets of ice!

With the coronavirus lockdown it's time to go back over some old photos which never got processed.

Trees on the beach at Barker’s National Park, West Bay, Grand Cayman.

There were some good sand ripples to be seen our our last trip to West WIttering. I was going to clone out the woman in the red coat but i thought she would add some extra interest.

West Fork is a famous hiking trail in Sedona, Arizona. This trail is 3.3 miles into a canyon and then a return trip out of the canyon. There are 13 stream crossings where you have to jump from rock to rock to get across. That makes 26 stream crossings altogether to get in and out! We took this picture at the very end of the trail where the canyon comes together into these beautiful rock formations. The trek in and out ended up taking longer than expected and we were chasing daylight by the end of our trip. Luckily there was still a hint of light left during our final stream crossing so we were able to keep ourselves and the camera equipment dry!

I woke up around 5:30 to watch the sunrise while at Whiteshell knowing it would be a good one.

NS local C46 out of Norfolk Southern's Pitcairn Yard and intermodal terminal sits amongst the shining gold ginkgo (pronounced ging-kho) trees that line both sides of the 4 track trench. They are stopped waiting on a signal at CP-PENN to proceed into Island Avenue yard to make their set outs and pick ups to take back to Pitcairn with them. On the east end of the train was 1 of the 2 pairs of NS GP33ECO's that are assigned to the Pittsburgh area to improve air quality and reduce emissions.

These trees are just a small part of Pittsburgh's beautiful Allegheny Commons Park West that is located just a block or 2 away from both the Pittsburgh Pirate's PNC Park and the Pittsburgh Steelers Heinz Field. Traditonally these leaves are always some of the last, if not the very last in the city to change before the winter arrives.

Oddly enough this year, they are not despite reaching their prime peak about 2 weeks later than usual. Some parts of the city still actually have green leaves on the trees as of November 23rd...and it's 1 day until Thanksgiving! Absolutely insanity. I've never seen anything like this before.

Another image from Sunday morning. Broadchurch fans will probably recognise this location!

The adventure really started when we found that we were stuck in the snow, after spending some time taking pictures of the falls. Oops.

What remains of West Pier Brighton. The burned building rusting away in the turquoise sea.

Just had to revisit West Burton waterfall.

As seen from the tiny port in the coastal town of Port Orford. The fishing boat is named Ann Kathleen.

I've lived in a lot of places and it's taken me a long time to figure it out - but now I know how deeply and truly I do love the West Coast! My heart is at home here, which really isn't all that surprising since I was born in coastal California!! Isn't it so often the case, that a long journey leads back close to the starting point...
