I loved being at Langedrag and being allowed to spend some time in the Lynx cage.

The Lynxes were such beautiful animals.

We were just on our way back from a wedding shoot when the sun began to setting. We stopped the car and began to shoot just for fun. It turned out quite nice.

Would you like to see the before?

We were itchy to take the new car out for a bit of an off-road trip. See, we traded the VW for a Subaru with the hopes of getting better ability to go into more remote locations, where the roads get more sketchy. So we headed out for a National Park we had been to before, but had a bad experience with previously. It was also a revenge trip I guess, of sorts. I should have known that the road there would not quite be as rough as I was looking for. The car never came close to getting stuck in the one small puddle we found. Gr. Ok, I guess we should have picked something a bit more rugged than a national park. Next time.

So the hills are great, and there are so many colors in there. Part of me was glad it was overcast, the color would have popped more if the sun were out, but I would have also had to contend with shadows, which are not always good for expressing colors. This gave me more ability to bring out the color. And the clouds looked great. There are really two ways you can shoot these, you can get up above it and capture a field of color, or get on your belly and try to capture the verticality. That's what I was going for here, but I also wanted to use a wide angle to get the whole scene. Thing is, that pancaked the hills a bit. Solution? Panorama. That's what I did here.

Thanks for looking.

he royal were flying all around us and it was great fun trying to decide which one to capture next. this royal tern was just coming in to land . Never a quiet moment with these beautiful birds !

Wishing you a wonderful and blessed July 5th !!!

We were watching this Barred Owlet from a walking trail as it moved from branch to ground to branch trying to catch a squirrel. It was difficult to get a photo in the darkness of the early morning forest and the light just starting to filter through but then the owlet flew up onto a low branch directly in a ray of sunlight.

Thank you for viewing.

When we were in Paris, we went up Montmartre to the Sacre Couer, and while sitting on the steps, a just married couple arrived on the bottom with a photographer. There were 100's of people milling around, but I put on my telephoto lens and just kept shooting. I cropped this one and got the extra people out of it. Loved the look on her face and the wind blowing her veil.

When they were all together one of the cat's favourite hobbies was bugging the dog.Grace was such a good girl: I think she probably thought of herself as their mom.

At times, we thought we were in a real rally: our 4X4 drivers gave the impression to race, the odometer exceeded the 90 km/h (56 mph) on the track, all in the middle of clouds of dust.

I was never afraid, however, because they drove very well, and the 4x4 were so well suspended that we were practically not shaken.

Here, our driver had started with a bang and got a little ahead. Then, he had the good idea to stop us at the top of a hill, the time to make us admire 2 other cars of our expedition that were rushing behind us to catch up with us.

We were traveling this week. Returning from a trip at Thanksgiving to visit my daughter and our grandchildren in LA. Spent the last evening in Pecos Texas before driving home the next day. We pulled into the drive thru of a local barbecue place. All of a sudden we were surrounded by "The Birds" as a huge flock of starling began roosting in the power lines over us. With my camera gear all packed in the back of the Jeep, I luckily had my iPhone out to Apple pay at the window and got a few quick shots. Amazing how they space themselves out.

The tarns were such vivid green or blue depending on the angle of the sun. The water was recently melted snow and ice and was very clear and cold. If it weren't for the mosquitos I would have liked to stay for hours to enjoy the beauty and tranquility.

Before we were soaked by the hailstorm that caught us in the La Barranca forest, we were able to take some long exposure photos of the waterfalls in one of the streams which descend from the mountains.

It was a moment of serenity and calm, which we enjoyed until it started to rain and then to hail.

I hope you like the photo.

You were my courage

My sword and shield

Grace under pressure

My wall of steel

I was a stone

Weighing us down

You were the angel I chained to the ground

I miss the way you undress

I miss your head on my chest

Can't stop this bleeding

Can't stop you leaving

I'm missing the sound of your heart beating

Baby I'm in love with you

Oh, and I'm missing the sound of your heart beating

Baby you were mine to lose

Oh, and I'm missing the sound of your heart beating

You showed me heaven

You rang a bell

I played with matches

It hurt like hell

Asleep, awake

You're all I see

I can't escape you, can't set you free

I miss your full moon rising

Catching a breath in silence

Can't stop this bleeding

Can't stop you leaving

I'm missing the sound of your heart beating

Baby I'm in love with you

Oh, and I'm missing the sound of your heart beating

Baby you were mine to lose

Oh, and I'm missing the sound of your heart beating

(Missing you, missing you)

I'm missing the sound of your heart beating

(Missing you, missing you)

I'm missing the sound of your heart beating

Baby I'm comin, baby I'm comin

Tell me now baby I'll come running

Baby I'm comin, baby I'm comin

Say the word baby I'll come running

Baby I'm in love with you

Oh, and I'm missing the sound of your heart beating

Baby you were mine to lose

Oh, and I'm missing the sound of your heart beating

In Memoriam ♥

I remember you as you were in the last autumn.

You were the grey beret and the still heart.

In your eyes the flames of the twilight fought on.

And the leaves fell in the water of your soul.

Clasping my arms like a climbing plant

the leaves garnered your voice, that was slow and at peace.

Bonfire of awe in which my thirst was burning.

Sweet blue hyacinth twisted over my soul.

I feel your eyes traveling, and the autumn is far off:

Grey beret, voice of a bird, heart like a house

Towards which my deep longings migrated

And my kisses fell, happy as embers.

Sky from a ship. Field from the hills:

Your memory is made of light, of smoke, of a still pond!

Beyond your eyes, farther on, the evenings were blazing.

Dry autumn leaves revolved in your soul.

We were lucky to have all that cloud coverage, otherwise it would have too much contrast in the rock formations. I believe this was in the lower rim of the canyons in the state of Arizona.

Were some days off! See you tomorrow!

were lemondrops and gumdrops... We'd be up to our bootays in candy LOL.

These 3 spoonbills were spotted at RSPB Leighton Moss

Images were shot at 1/10 of a second intervals.

At 10 FPS very fast wing action captured.

Nearing 10 weeks old and their actions show their age.

Really feel blessed to have the opportunity to photograph these wonderful birds.

An average of 1.4 to 1.7 eaglets will grow up to first fly at about 12 weeks age.

Our nest has three healthy Eaglets.

Eaglets fly in place over their nest until they feel strong and brave enough to fly for the first time at approximately 12 weeks of age. Winds stimulate the eaglets to exercise to the extent that, where winds are more consistent, they may exercise enough to fly by 10 weeks of age. In the absence of winds, their first flight may be delayed a week or more.

There were 1000's of waders and birds in the lake and that attracted a variety of raptors including 5-6 Marsh Harriers. These were flying around the edges of the large lake disturbing birds and waiting for some bird to be careless. We saw a few catches, though it was too far to determine what it was or take a shot. The water was shallow across the 10-15 sq km spread and just a few feet deep - so the waders are out in full force.

After harrying the waders for a while, these raptors tend to sit down for a while, maybe recovering their energy, before they fly again. This is a common winter harrier found along the water bodies in the countryside. These medium sized birds are migratory from Central Asia and winter in large numbers in India. They hunt small reptiles like Snakes, frogs, monitor lizards and water birds. The hunting pattern is constantly harassing the birds till some of them just give up tired and don't fly away. Then the bird just pounces and makes a meal of them.

Thank you so much in advance for your views and feedback. Much appreciated.

We were driving along this Alaskan Highway when we just had to stop for the view. It reminded me of a black forest, the trees were so dark. But, then light in the background.

Were at Chicago Roosevelt Road yard .We have been following this train since Blue Island racing along the Dan Ryan express way ..He's pulling into the yard and will get head room almost into La Salle street station

As I was driving by this old barnyard, I noticed a few chickens hurriedly making their way across the yard to the shed. Then I spied the problem. A cocky rooster was purposely strutting toward the hens with just one thing on his mind. All I could think of was that the farmer bought a new young rooster and the hens were not pleased. I wish I could have watched what unfolded, but I was stopped in the middle of a country road (yet again). I can hear the ladies now, “We want old Mr. Doodledont back again.”

We were sitting in a great hide though the open front, lack of heating and the -3 degree Celsius temperature made it a tough challenge to take photos! :) We had bad luck again with weather...dense fog settled over the lake seriously impacting the quality of photos. Here I managed to capture a great moment...but the fog...

We were on a tourist boat, on the way to a place where you could snorkel and dive. It is near Sharm el Sheikh with fantastic views of a mountain range and a harbor. It is in the south between Suez Canal and Gulf of Akaba in the Red Sea. I love to remember these day's.

This photo was taken with my first camera, Nikon D 3000. I thought about to let cleaning the mirror, because there is a lot of dust on it. Over 50,000 trips, is it worth it? I think so, hey, it's a Nikon :-)

Thanks for take time and viewing, much appreciated.

Were on the former Monon line at downtown Crawfordsville Ind passing through the semaphores

There were many amaryllis bulbs on the wild while walking on the woods. Can't way to see them in full bloom!

Thanks for your visit and taking the time to comment so I can visit your photos, too... very much appreciated! Have a great day!🙋‍♀️

Stockville, Nebraska

We were pleased when we stumbled upon this very interesting spot. It looks like a ghost town, with a street grid filled with 19th c. relics lurking in the trees, and indicating that it was once a sizable place. There is a current population; the 2020 census indicates that 27 people call this town home. It is proudly the home of the Frontier County Courthouse. This apparently was the very last courthouse in the country to get indoor plumbing.

We were photographing the species that appeared when the guide excitedly told us that an owlet was vocalizing. Since we hadn't photographed an owlet before, we tried with renewed enthusiasm to identify the origin of the sound, but quickly became discouraged as it seemed beyond our capacity to identify a bird that we already knew to be very small, although we had never seen one before. We refocused on what was displayed before our eyes and didn't think about it anymore.

After about 15 minutes, the guide exclaimed excitedly, "it's over there". However, even with the explanation of where to look, it was not easy and some of us took a few minutes to follow the instructions of the trunks to find this small, but beautiful, ball of feathers!

We spent another 10 minutes photographing this beauty, searching for possible angles, backgrounds, and frames. I even managed to find a second bird by myself. The difficult part is finding the first one :)

As we were approaching this barn from the other side, I thought I saw a chipmunk darting about. Sue enough, when I turned the corner, there was the cheeky little thing. He had climbed onto this ledge. I honestly didn't know they could climb because I've only ever seen them scurrying along the ground. . S/he didn't put up with us for very long before disappearing behind the curtain ... as it were.

Note: we are in the midst of busy family times for a few days, so my commenting will likely be minimal.

We were now in the old town of Düsseldorf and now we go to the Orangerie of Benrath to Düsseldorf.

I've already pictures, but now there's only one person to see other plants as a few months ago.

Have fun with the look at the flowers.

We were blessed by a visit from this adult Sharp-shinned Hawk for a few minutes on Christmas day, 2022 (this past Sunday).

All of a sudden, we noticed this beauty in our Walnut tree, checking out the local backyard bird population, looking to invite a birdie or two to brunch.

It was an inclement day, with ground fog in our yard, which led to pics that were not quite as sharp as we'd have wished, but "beggars can't be choosers" is what I was taught, so we just enjoyed the foggy presence of this beauty.

This beauty was pretty patient with me, waiting for me to grab my camera, change lenses, and to then take a few pics thru the window before venturing out into the backyard to see if pictures with a bit more clarity could be obtained.

The Hawk was very cooperative (this time). That's usually not the case. Must have been the 'ol holiday spirit in action.

Fog, low light, and a resulting very slow shutter speed led to the softness of this pic, but hey, it's still a beautiful Sharpie, IMHO.

I'd crawl thru the desert on my hands and knees

Rehearsing my pretty please

Climb the highest mountain

If I were sorry

Shout it from the top

Swim under water until my lungs exploded

Walk into the fire

If I were sorry

I'd run a thousand miles

Wouldn't stop until I dropped

Wouldn't take a break to breathe until I got close enough

Then I'd do it all again

If I really had the chance

But I know deep inside for you it's just another, dance

If I were sorry

I'd give you all the glory

If I were sorry

If I were sorry

It would be a different story

If I were sorry

If I were sorry oh

I'd hold my breath 'til my face turned blue

I'd rob a bank and the post office too

Swim across the ocean

If I were sorry

I'd take a vow of silence

I wouldn't say a single word

Until you really heard

If I were sorry

I'd run a thousand miles

Wouldn't stop until I dropped

Wouldn't take a break to breathe until I, I got close enough

If I were sorry

I'd give you all the glory

If I were sorry

If I were sorry

It would be a different story

If I were sorry oh

Now did you ever realize

That your mistake had a prize

Oh you threw it all away

'Cause you're the devil in disguise

Now would you ever realize

The consequences of your lies

And would you save the falling tear or act as if

There's nothing there

If I were sorry

(If I were sorry)

If I were sorry

(If I were sorry)

If I were sorry

I'd take a vow of silence

I wouldn't say a single word

(If I were sorry)

If I were sorry

I'd be on my hands and knees

Begging pretty please

If I were sorry

But I'm not sorry, no

Here I am on my way to witch school, where I would receive my first lessons in magic and witchcraft.

This little witch is a complex model to fold. But for me it was fun ;-) Unfortunately it needs support to stand.

It was a rainy evening and we were far from a place we wanted to reach. When we were close to a viewing point we saw that sun was shining through a tiny crack in the clouds and the whole valley was filled with a golden light. We ran like the Fellowship of the Ring, jumping over tree roots and steps of a staircase to the viewing point. The whole shoot took around three minutes: unpack a camera, set up a tripod, choose and change a lens, compose a frame, focus and shoot. I had enough time to only take four frames with different exposures and the sun had gone.

We were trekking through the woods when we came across this delightful woodland opportunity. It was at the beginning of the trail when we started and in the shade. Hours later, it was at the end of the trail when we returned, and in the light.

In the tutorials I give we usually start with the technical of photography. We then move on to the artistic and advance onto light. It typically moves the shot into the next category. Many want to get off of automatic and others desire a better composition. At the end of the trail, light is key.

How I wish

How I wish you were here

We're just two lost souls

Swimming in a fish bowl

Year after year

Running over the same old ground

And have we found

The same old fears

Wish you were here

SL Photo Challenge - August's Challenge

We were blessed to take this trip out west given the restrictions of COVID-19. We had to adjust some of the trip locations to less populated areas, as well as confirm the hotels would be open. Those hotels were extremely glad to see us out there exploring the outdoors safely.

The restaurants we ate at were about 50/50 indoors / outdoors. The indoor locations were well separated between tables.

The locations (not all shown here), but the top 12 of the stops along the way are included in this collage. They are shown in the order we visited them.

Having Comet Neowise out there at the same time as a super bonus.

We were walking through the Wollongong Botanic Gardens as the sun was going down. The sun was illuminating this spiders web nicely.

There were thousands in the river and this one just stood out !

Thank you very much for your kind comments, favorites and looking and please stay safe !
