Forge exited the craft and he would just pause. There was a low utterance. "Jesus Christ..the world keep changing...." He would glance over at Guin and then his gaze would sweep from side to side taking in the sights. He sucked in a deep breath then and he would consider before he shrugged-- a cigarette was lit up. He took a long drag off it and then nodded his head to the robotic creature who would offer them, "Welcome to Chicago-- City of the Future! After the reconstruction of Chicago in 2049-- the city has taken on an entirely new attitude that still aligns with its jazz, blues, and union roots-- we hope you enjoy your stay in our fair city and if you're coming back, 'welcome home!' " He would glance at Guin then and he would start forward slowly. "Stay by my side....we have no idea what this place is like..."

Guin's eyes widen as she steps to the side, instinctively staying close to Forge without having to be told. She's a city girl born and bred, it's true, but an unfamiliar city can be overwhelming. The robot's voice makes her jump, and as it 'speaks' she looks up and around, trying to absorb it all. And maybe in the back of her mind, look for a phone. She nods at Forge, and chances a look up at him. "If I had my phone you wouldn't have to worry about losing me."

Forge glances over at her. "If you had your phone I'd have to worry about being shot in the back by Eamon."

Welcome to Schönbrunn

Welcome to Virginia!

The welcoming committee is nowhere near as large as in Härnösand. Luleå harbour, fair to say, receives more than one cruise ship a year... they're used to it.

Thanks also for skipping the chopper, a drone was much better :-)

Välkomstkommittén är inte i närheten av den i Härnösand. Luleå tar å andra sidan emot fler kryssningsfartyg än Härnösand... de är vana.

Tack också för att vi slapp en helikopter, drönaren var mycket bättre :-)

This is my little reindeer to welcome friends and family on our front door this Christmas. I made him a red rose and appliqued it rather than paint it on.

To mark World Refugee Day 2022, LWF joins with interfaith partners Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) and HIAS, the Jewish humanitarian organization working with refugees and asylum seekers, to organize an international conference entitled ‘Welcoming the Stranger, Shaping the Future’.

The two-day event at the Ecumenical Center in Geneva is highlighting the work of grassroots faith-based organizations working in refugee response and seeking to strengthen partnerships with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

A Welcome Swallow preens itself, NZ…

The highway Visitor Center in Alabama is a delightful place designed to make the visitor feel welcome and designed to celebrate the history of Alabama. The grounds are landscaped with flowering plants and trees. There are even historical markers, like the one that tells us that this was the site of a Cherokee town, named for the the half-breed chief, Red-headed Will. It was the home of Sequoyah, inventer of the Cherokee alphabet. Alexander Campbell, a British agent lived there during the Revolutionary War. In 1837, Fort Payne was built for detaining the Cherokees, which is as close as the plaque gets to mentioning the stealing of Cherokee land and their exile on the Trail of Tears.
