Hundreds came to St. John Cantius parish to begin the penitential season of Lent. This is a privileged season of grace for the entire Church. It begins the annual solemn preparation for the Easter Mystery which is the culmination of the Church Year.
The Latin name for Lent, Quadragesima, means forty and refers to the forty days Christ spent in the desert which is the origin of the Season.
As happens on every Ash Wednesday, the people receive ashes on their foreheads in the shape of a cross while the priest says, "Remember that thou art dust and unto dust thou shall return." Ashes are a biblical symbol of repentance, sorrow, and humility. It is a fitting beginning to this holy season dedicated to the conversion of our hearts and the need to do acts of penance for ourselves and for the world.
Jacksonville Landing was the scene for the Hooters Green Bikini Contest. We want to appologize now for the lack of pictures. We had a camera malfucntion and are working to restore what we lost
Exercise Cobra Warrior - Wednesday 25th September 2024 - in the second week of the only Cobra Warrior exercise in 2024 (the March exercise was cancelled), I made my second visit to RAF Waddington to try and capture some of the action - Polish Air Force F-16s + Royal Canadian Airforce (RCAF) CF-188 Hornets + Finnish Air Force F-18 Hornets :)
On this visit, the blue skies had vanished, and the wind was up! However, I was able to film and photograph all three visiting airforces, including the Polish F-16s :)
In this shot, we see how the photographer was caught out - not being exactly sure which runway was in operation, whilst standing by the hedge, suddenly this Canadian support Herc loomed into sight, lifting gracefully off Runway 02! Soon after, the airfield switched to Runway 20..
Movements for the morning
- 130339 RCAF CC-130HT made a surprise departure on Runway 02
- HN-452 + HN-457 Finnish AF F-18s departed Runway 20
- G-BEZG Grumman AA-5 departed Runway 20
- 188770, 188796, 188758 + 188783 RCAF CF-188s departed Runway 20
- 4061, 4044, 4060 + 4050 Polish AF F-16s departed Runway 20
- HN-417 + HN-419 Finnish AF F-18s departed Runway 20

Dria cut her hair, SHORT, AND she is wearing crazy contacts. There like black/grey/with orange in the middle I think? It reminds me of the Pretty's and the Special's by Scott Westerfeld. I love those books.
i bought a new little folding table (tv tray!) the other night. also, the dog's face should be rounder, but i was already far into this so i'll just finish it then try another.
