The WC shield, a bit battered, and bruised, but still proudly proclaiming its heritage, catches some late afternoon sun in the Waterville Yard. The 50' Plate C boxcars, once a staple of the midwest, have recently migrated east towards Pan Am, carrying SNC reporting marks (this one is SNC 21043). They have reinforced floors, and have a higher load weight for paper than the scores of old Maine Central and Boston & Maine boxcars that used to fill this role.
The Dodge WC series, nicknamed “Beeps,” were a prolific range of light 4WD and medium 6WD military utility trucks produced during World War II. The series evolved from the 1939 T-series trucks and included various purpose-built variants, such as cargo carriers, weapons carriers, and ambulances. Dodge was the primary supplier of these trucks to the U.S. military, with over 380,000 units produced.

August 7, 1989 must have been my day to photograph Wisconsin Central 4006, a GP35m built as MP 623, a GP35, in Feb. 1964. These shots were all taken around Fon du Lac, Wisconsin.
