WC engine facility, Stevens Point. August 20, 1992

A WC GP30 and SD45 bring a short transfer east out of Humboldt Yard and through Camden in Minneapolis, MN back in April 1997. This was another late running WC Transfer day and the short stretch between here and Lyndale was the only place to get any decent side light before it turned and crossed east over the Mississippi on the CP.

WC payback milage to the IC..My pops and I got a heads up from the crew that this was going out this afternoon...Chased this all the way to Burlington until we couldnt catch up anymore.

The WC Heritage unit and a GECX demo takes B790 south on the CN Waukesha Subdivision just south of Waukesha. It was real fitting to see WC on the WC.

One of the 14 FP45s ever built waits at a red signal south the diamond with the CP in Duplainville.

Wisconsin Central SD45s 6595 and 6606 are lined up north of Belmont Ave in Franklin Park IL Mar 1996.

WC 6655 passes a DM&IR SD9 laying over at Stevens Point on it's way out of town with another westbound in late 1995.

The one of a kind painted 584 leads 2401 on an X35 eastbound near Nahma. This job was following along behind regular 35 and had all the short work as far as Trout Lake where he would turn back west doing pickups as time allowed. Mead empties for Gulliver up front followed by TPP empties for Caffey and more Mead empties for Trout Lake along with a 24 car set out at Trout Lake for the Newberry job. February 4, 1996. A rescan.

On the Wisconsin Central Ltd at Stevens Point the evening of February 12th, 1995 - The view through a window of the old Soo Line Roundhouse shows that WC SD45 #6554 is in for some repair work – And with that loose 2251 number board leaning against the glass, it also looks like ex-FRVR GP30 #814 may have also been somewhere inside in the process of being re-numbered. – Over on the left is just enough red paint to indicate that the ex-Santa Fe FP45 warbonnet was also present, and that reminded me that I had previously posted a shot taken inside the Roundhouse just a short time after I had captured this “outside looking in” view – here is the link to that interior photo taken the same evening. - flic.kr/p/CQ48A2 - ~~ A Jeff Hampton Photograph ©

The chase is on, back in Feb 2007 one of our weekend goals was to chase an E-Rail across the old Soo Line from Ladysmith to points East. Feb 18th wold be that day. It turned out to be a set of what got termed the SD45 killers as these units rapidly siplaced the WC SD45 fleet after the CN takeover. doesn't matter in this case as it was a chase over the old Soo Line. We started the chase in Ladysmith when the train took the turn off the Superior Mainline and headed East, here engineer Dave Schultz handles the train through a series of hills and valleys that no doubt kept you on your toes with a heavy tac train. The train speed was low which allowed us to shoot like mad men during the chase parallel to WI Hwy 8, Next up just West of Hawkins rolling through the countryside at MP 147.

A Loaded E-Rail, all rail taconite, crossing the Flambeau River on the Bradley Sub headed for Prentice where it would be tied down for the day

After the 6652 was made operational it underwent a few variations of paint before ending up in the full maroon and gold WC scheme. This was my favorite look of the bunch with a small WC on the cab.5-30-95

ENGLISCH:

Urgent business 😄

The lady in the yellow summer dress and the gentleman who is just locking his Mini are definitely very happy about the toilet house on the motorway rest area.

Dringende Geschäfte 😄

Die Dame im gelben Sommerkleidchen und der Herr, der gerade sein Mini abschliesst, sind bestimmt sehr froh um das Toilettenhäuschen auf dem Autobahn Rastplatz.

Once upon a time the WC roamed this line, previously owned by the Omaha and now the CN. Here a Southbound led by a "Green Weenie" heads through what Kent refers to as Dan"s dip, the sag over the Amnicon river at Rockmont just South of Superior

Qualche fishata ....

WC Transfer pulls across the Mississippi River on their way to Humboldt with cars for CP back on May 31, 1998. A couple of maroon and gold engines was a great way to end a beautiful, long May day in the Twin Cities. Was always a favorite spot for me as it was near my house and looking at the Camden Bridge you wouldn't think you were right in the middle of Minneapolis.

Hard to believe this scene was back in 2006, with plenty of Maroon and the SD45 killers in full force on the WC trains
