in case anybody's wondering, that's supposed to be a cougar up in the tree. Not the best job on that but it is what it is. Worked on this one for days.
A tree and a watchtower at San Francisco's Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary reach into the Northern California sky.
Ávila
Enchanting Ávila and it's encircling wall. Built in 1083-1092. It's the largest enact walled city in present time.
In my several travels in Spain, it's quite difficult to say what city is more beautiful, impressionable, memorable or breathtaking but Ávila is top 5, with its humblest of senior residents alway willing to tell it's tales.
Designed by Mary Colter and built in 1932 as a monument to the valley and people of the grand canyon. It welcomed travelers as they visited the area.
On this particular day it was so windy it was difficult to stand on the canyon rim and shoot images of the tower.
View Along the Watchtower On Black
A Sunday (3_2_08) trip to Honeymoon Island to hike Osprey trail and watch the sunset was healing...and made for some grand shot opportunities. Will write more for the next photo to share some of the experiences. Happy Tuesday everyone.
This was built during the Napoleonic wars as a lookout post. It sits high on a cliff on the Donegal coast.
watchtower :
Its main purpose is to provide a high, safe place from which a sentinel or guard may observe the surrounding area. In some cases, non-military towers, such as religious towers, may also be used as watchtowers.
Crossing Taunus mountain range is always fun and a good workout. Especially since the other side of the mountains has some wonderful places. One of them is a place called Idstein. Just on outside that town is a reconstructed Roman watchtower that was part of Limes. The frontier fortifications that separated the empire from the Germanic wilds.
Hey all! Another medieval creation from me! Gotta say, this is so refreshing to build castle instead of Star Wars!
This Build is a part of a collaboration with Zapalski, my former LEGO Masters casting buddy (we sadly did not get in). He's such a great dude and agood friend of mine. I travelled with my part to him last weekend to set up the whole collab. You can see his part and the result at his YT video (commentary in Polish, but with English subtitles):
We're gonna expand this later this year. You know, it was supposed to be a quick collab but now we're planning how to axpand and display it. :D
Stay safe guys!

Upon first seeing the Watchtower. This was the highlight of my day at the Grand Canyon and first view of what I saw at Desert View up close.
