I'm always rather taken by little remnants of mechanical features - this, presumably, is a winder for controlling the openings on the long-gone glasshouses.

Finished product with a light wash added to give the entire tree a bit of an aged look.

This gave me a chance to use up some of the ephemera I've been saving for a while, and also looks rather nice on my bedroom wall. The pin at the top is a bottlecap brooch I made, and hot-glued to a thumbtack.
