Students were asked to close their eyes, listen to a song called Daydreaming by the New Zealand band, OKA. I asked them to see the colours for each instrument and look for the movement of the lines, shapes and colours as they listened. They listened for the length of the song - 6 minutes. I played the song again. This time they were asked to draw what they saw as the music played. I asked them to blend colours and create volume and dimension in the important lines with complimentary and adjacent colours. I played the song a third time as they worked. They loved this assignment as did all the other classes I did it with in grade six and eight.
