Inspired by aharef's html visualizer here's another del.icio.us visualization, but in this case, instead of mapping tags it explores the relationships between del.icio.us users. This network explorer is written in processing and uses force directed graph visualization. The edges between the nodes act like springs. New nodes start from a random position and run to convergence. You can input your own del.icio.us username and see your network of acquaintances build in front of your eyes, assuming of course you've been using the network feature in del.icio.us. For other projects featured in VC, that aim at visualizing the del.icio.us tagging system, you can see more here.

Visualizes the ironies of living in urban Manila. With limited job opportunities, many Filipinos from the rural areas migrate to the city in search for work or better opportunities in life. As the population density increases and competes with the built environment, urban structures are used for more than their intended functions.

Plotting the relationships between microbes as a force based graph (using traer physics). Although some types of microbes cluster together, there is a lot of gene sharing between groups. (this is the same graph as the previous picture at a different angle)

This poster depicts 6 chosen projects and shows important aspects/skills about each. It’s what I need to keep in mind when discussing these successful projects.
On August 21, 2017, the Earth will cross the shadow of the moon, creating a total solar eclipse. Eclipses happen about every six months, but this one is special. For the first time in almost 40 years, the path of the moon's shadow passes through the continental United States. via NASA ift.tt/2rRirhl

During our engagement with Yahoo!, we designed four data visualization tools that allow visitors to explore and understand the sophisticated technical framework that powers key portions of the Yahoo! suite of products.
Unfortunately, as a result of the internal reorganization that swept over Yahoo! last year, two of these projects were put on hold, and then later canceled. That was too bad, because not only had we worked hard on them, we were really excited about releasing them to the public.
One of the tools is shown here. It’s an exploration of the Yahoo! Cloud, and offers visitors a chance to see how active it really is. Visitors can explore the major product offerings and initiate simulated server calls, messages, emails, and other behaviors. Additionally, they can explore geographic locations and capacity of server infrastructure to understand the complex pathways and systems that are involved in even the simplest of tasks.
It’s a look at the essential technology that enables everything we do online, and we’re sure people would be amazed.
