Migrants walking on the Ludhiana-Delhi Highway (NH-44) near Ludhiana, Punjab, during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.
As the pan-India lockdown gradually extended to nearly 2 months, migrants all over India - predominantly labourers - began an exodus back to their home states.

The now much loved original Fiat 500 was made from 1957 until 1975 with variations and updates along the way.
This one is the Fiat 500L that was produced between 1967 and 1971. It has front hinged doors instead of the rear hinged 'suicide doors' on the earlier models. It also featured slightly better levels of trim and dashboard layout that the more basic model that was still available alongside the 500L (Lusso).

After so much time finally i got again the good feeling in taking pics, thanks to a great and nice model
Built in 1903 this stone arch bridge spans the Pétrusse river deep in a gorge that runs across thr city. A lower deck was added in 2018 primarily for cyclist, but does also have pedestrian access.
This scene is in the heart of a controversial shared space scheme with a 20 mph speed limit for motorist..
The buildings in view here are far older than they look. Although the frontages are much modified the basis of some of the structures go back as far as the 1820's to 1840's era. Back then they were know as Strutt's Parade. Built by John James Strutt, 2nd Baron Rayleigh. Major-General William Goodday Strutt lived in Rayleigh House, where the Spar and Subway signage is, from around 1824 to 1844 and some of the original building is most likely still present in the current day premises. The cream coloured building in the middle distance is The Hope Hotel which is even older. The prominent large white building beyond that is The Park Inn Palace Hotel from late Victorian times.

Evening scene at Lakeside in Pokhara, Nepal.
I was having a coffee at a roadside cafe when I saw this scene. A family was riding out from their hotel to the BOBMC Rider Mania (@bobmcridermania) venue for the evening party. I was suddenly really missing my family back home. That's what probably set the mood for this shot.
After the first evening of the event, the party had split out from the venue and into the Lakeside area. It was motorcycles, riders, music and drinks on every street. A testimony to the spirit of the RM, and the welcoming city that Pokhara is.
The Bluebell Railway have a good number of early railway carriages from the late Victorian and Edwardian eras. Many of the restored carriages have a story behind them, often rescued from being used as static buildings.
There are carriages of this style that had served with, London Chatham and Dover Railway, London Brighton and South Coast Railway and the Metropolitan Railway.

No idea what this is really, other than it appears to be a 3 wheeler kit car based around the 602cc engine from the Citroén 2CV. On the DVLA website it is listed as a Citroén Tyke.

The area of the central theme of the film A Bridge Too Far, although a different bridge had been used in the film.
John Frost Bridge was opened in 1948, built in the same style as the famous bridge in Operation Market Garden. That had originally been built in the period 1932-35, so a relatively young bridge in 1940 when the Dutch destroyed it and the Germans rebuilt it.
Major-General John Dutton Frost was in command of the small Airborne force that actually made it to the bridge at Arnhem from the drop zones so far away from the town. The battle raged from 17th September until 26th September 1944. The Airborne forces were overwhelmed by the numerically superior and well equipped German Army units in the area.. Had the Allied ground forces working their way up from inside the Belgian border via the other famous bridge at Nijmegen been about 12 hours ahead in their push towards Arnhem the outcome would probably been different. ¾ of the 1st Airborne Division was effectively wiped out in this one action. A force of over 10,000 men reduced to around 2,000 by deaths, capture or wounded. The bridge at Arnhem was about 60 miles inside the German lines. The Dutch had destroyed the bridge in 1940 and it took the German forces until August 1944 to rebuild it. A pontoon bridge had been used at this important crossing point of the lower Rhine for the intervening years.
The 1st Airborne Division had been formed in late 1941 and disbanded in November 1945.
Punjabi migrant workers at night on NH-44 near Ludhiana, returning to Punjab during the 2020 pandemic lockdown.
I had earlier clicked migrants who were leaving Punjab to return to their native places. However, this story was the opposite. These were Punjabis who were returning home as they were laid off due to the lockdown. Coming back from different faraway states, they had made it to New Delhi by rail. But they couldn't find any further public transportation to Punjab, so they were walking and hitchhiking. As can be expected due to the higher social indexes of their home state, they were skilled and semi-skilled workers. Still they were returning penniless as their dues had not been paid. They also lamented that while they got plenty of help from good samaritans on the way to Punjab, once they crossed its borders hardly any of their Punjabi brethren were ready to help them without expectations of money in return. Since the outward migration from Punjab was mostly over by then, road-side help initiatives had already withdrawn, and surprisingly ordinary Punjabis on the roads didn't offer them much help. When some charity money was offered, they refused. So, despite the adverse circumstances, their Punjabi pride and dignity was still intact.

The fellow showed up at the riverside to fish, while I was there photographing migratory birds.
As the sun went down, this was the fellow's last throw of the hook, hopeful of finally catching a fish. After a while, nothing. His mate told him that it was late, time to go. "We'll try again tomorrow", he replied cheerfully. The hope was from the belief that there is another day to come; and the cheerfulness was from the experience of the day gone by. The experience, which is ultimately more important than the outcome - as I oft-repeat.
This is Hollens Street that runs parallel with Oxford Street, London behind the shops.
The Henry Heath hat business started in the early 1800's during in the reign of George IV. This rear facade is however from the rebuilt premises of the 1880's. A specialist top hat manufacturer that demised with changes in fashion.
Looking very smart and presentable in Mitchells Avenue. I noticed that everything I found refering to this building called it a church rather than a citadel.
Thinking about it, I don't really know the difference

Sunbirds twist and turn in interesting ways while foraging for nectar from flowers.

Paddyfield Pipit in a rice field near Ludhiana, Punjab.
Distinguishing between Paddyfield, Blyth's and Richard's pipits can be one difficult task, especially when wintering birds start to arrive in northern India. I spent half a day trying to identify this pipit; finally gave up and went with the more common Paddyfield Pipit.
