Plenty of room for me and the ticket inspector as we pulled out of London Bridge Station on a train bound for Horsham. A couple more people did get on board further down the line.
Very modern class of train first in service during 2016. The seating is not as comfortable as on trains from the 1950's though! Fewer seats and more standing room is the order of the day here.

The road bridge at Nijmegen along with the nearby rail bridge were important objectives for Operation Market Garden during September 1944. Unlike a lot of the famous bridges in this area that have been rebuilt, the central span here is original. It had been blown by the Dutch Army on 10th May 1940 with the central span falling in to the Waal River. Presumably largely in tack as the Germans were able to raise it and rebuild the bridge that had originally opened in 1936. Surpringly the German forces did not detonate the explosives on the bridge in September 1944. The rebuilt rail bridge does not look anything like the original, although some element of the old bridge remain.

A major student accommodation block for the University Of Essex-Southend Campus. Opened in 2010 and received a commendation from the Southend Design Awards. It is set around a central courtyard and has 560 student bedrooms arranged in to flats.. The rooms are offered as holiday accommodation outside of normal term time. It also contains a public car park with a dubious reputation and some retail units. Sometimes referred to as the Lego Building locally.
This one in Westcliff-On-Sea, Essex became a sub-post office a few weeks ago. A growing number of these open all hours shops have post office counter facilities available 7 days a week now.
Better external Post Office signage on the one photographed here wouldn't go amiss.
A Bank Holiday Sunday afternoon. In the days of the Southend Airshow this scene would have been packed with daytrippers and the road closed to traffic.
CWGC cemetery containing 216 graves of British forces. Mainly from the operations of September 1944 and just after.
The tributes at the base of the cross were laid on the evening of Saturday 4th May 2019, Remembrance Day in Holland. The 2 minutes silence takes place at 8.00 p.m.. I took the photograph here the following morning which was Liberation Day.
After so much time finally i got again the good feeling in taking pics, thanks to a great and nice model

Southern took delivery of 46 four car sets of this class that were built between 1982 and 1984. The Class 455 as a whole were bulit from about 1980 through to 1985. Some sets incorporate carriages from earlier classes of emu.

Looks to be a late registered MkI as the MK2 Allegro had already been launched at the end of 1975. The much maligned Austin Allegro went through a couple of facelifts in its production run from 1973 to 1982. The early models were famous for the quartic steering wheel which in effect had rounded off corners. Many people retro fitted the steering wheel from the earlier 1100/1300 range. This car also has a normal round steering wheel. My guilty confession is that I rather liked the quartic steering wheel on my own early Allegro, way back when. I also liked the Hydrolastic suspension which when pump up properly gave a very comfortable ride and handling. I know most people with experience of Allegro cars would not agree with that.

The Class 378 commuter trains have been in service since 2009 and were designed specifically for London Overground.
View from the pier head looking towards Southend-On-Sea, Essex. The low tide shows why the original pier was built. So that daytripper pleasure boats could come down the River Thames from London and disembark their passengers regardless of the state of the
tide.

The HC variant of the Viva was in production from 1970 until 1979. Although some very good large engined versions were in the range it was the more basic 1159cc and later 1256cc engined models that were really popular. The basic models were easy to maintain by DIY motorist and relatively cheap to run.
DIY motoring is almost extinct nowadays.
The usual weekend rail replacement bus and coach service in place. Major overhead cable replacement has been going on for a long time now.

Over 70 class 317 EMU's are still in service throught the UK. They were built in two batches back in the early and mid 1980's. Refurbishment and upgrades over the years must point to the sucess of the original design I would think.

This unit was a trailer carriage from the 1890's until 1949 on Southend Pier. It was then transferred to Volks Electric Railway in Brighton. Volks fitted it out with an electric motor from a milk float so the toastrack carriage became an independent unit under its own power.
I believe 3 of these 1890 ex Southend Pier rolling stock units are still around. One in the Southend Pier Museum, one being restored by Volks Electric Railway and the one photographed here at Chelmsford Museum.

The very appealing Silver Rider livery on this short wheelbase Enviro 200 / Dart B28F photographed in the dull and oppressive bus station at Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.
The Silver Rider I circular route was introduced in November 2018.
Lots of short wheelbase buses using Aylesbury Bus Station.
Southend United were losing at home to ten man Barnsley whilst I was taking this photograph. Final score was Southend 0-3 Barnsley.
Hopefully the paramedics had some headache tablets on hand for Southend manager Chris Powell.

Two historic gems that were hidden away from the public until recent times. The remnants of Gogs Berth, nearer the camera are from the Victorian Era. Two large barges, Gog and Magog, used to transport weapons and munitions from Woolwich Arsenal via the River Thames to Gogs Berth where the ordnance was unloaded for testing on the military ranges and mudflats at Shoeburyness, Essex. Barge Pier served in a similar role in later times. A good spot for fishing I have been told.
This area was sold off by the MOD and a very pleasant walking route along the northern shore of the Thames Estuary has now been created along with a wildlife park called Gunners Park. Lots more land nearby has been used for housing.

BVV 947 displayed at the Festival of Steam and Transport 2019. Historic Dockyard Chatham, Kent.
The information sheet on the windscreen says that this is one of only 5 right hand drive MkV DHC's in the UK. Only 90 examples of the 365 Jaguar MkV DHC's made were right hand drive.
A very rare and beautiful car with the looks of the pre-war SS Jaguar models in its styling I would say.
