Label reads:" The Pinot Chardonnay grapes for this wine were picked late in January at high sugar and acid levels. The juice was fermented in new French Oak hogsheads in traditional French White Burgundy manner. This is a lighter more delicate wine than in previous years and has been aged for only four months in small wood similar to the 1973 vintage. The Wine is quite high in Alcohol and shows great strenght of acid on the finish which will ensure that the wine will live for many years in the bottle. Murray D Tyrrell Winemaker."

Label reads: Estd. 1877 McWilliam's Mount Pleasant PHILIP HERMITAGE 1966 As far as can be determined, the hermitage grape originally came from Persia and it is now one of the main red grape varieties grown in the Rhone Valley in France where it is known as the "Petite Syrah" It is also grown extensively throughout Australia where it is renowned for the high quality of the wine which it produces in the Pokolbin district of the Hunter Valley. This wine, produced from the Hermitage grown on heavy volcanic loam on the slopes of Mount Pleasant is a full bodied robust dry red which should continue to age and improve for many years. It spent a proportion of its wood ageing in 65 gallon oak hogsheads before being bottled in February 1968. This wine was made from Hermitage grapes grown on the four acre vineyard and was picked late in vintage. The four acres is now our oldest producing vineyard block. This is a big old Hunter stylewith deep purple colour and showing full fruit character on both the nose and palate. A small portion of this wine was maturedin new Oak casks and the remainder in old French Oak which has added complexity to both the nose and palate I believe this to be a great wine and will live for many years if cellared correctly. 750ml"
