Visual journal of my trip to Kaohsiung, Taiwan in conjunction of my group exhibition called 'Creative Cities' (lead by Jackson Tan) Kaohsiung Design Festival.
Being inspired by the things around you are absolutely normal, especially to those that are easily attracted to abstract visuals.
With its endless power to stimulate the mind and evoke intense emotions, it is the strong personal connection I have to music that forms the core focus of my work. My creative enquiry involves listening to and observing others move to music, before translating what I see, hear and feel in that moment onto paper or through a camera in the form of expressive lines, shapes, patterns and textures. With laser cutting and engraving as key processes, I explore ways to layer this imagery in order to create 'visual soundscapes' that reflect this spontaneous emotional response, encased within self-imposed spatial blocks that momentarily define each series of impulsive reactions.
